Donkey Kong Bananza players have managed to blow it wide open in less than a week, and the speedrun potential is bananas: "It's wild how much of the game you can bypass with the right tricks"
When you buy through links on our articles, Future and its syndication partners may earn a commission. Donkey Kong Bananza players are pushing the game's speedrunning potential to its limits. It hasn't even been a week yet, and already someone has figured out how to get to the endgame without unlocking over half of the Bananza transformations. Super Mario Odyssey showed that Nintendo EPD Tokyo has the sauce to create some incredible speedrunning games thanks to their in-depth movement systems; and players were showing that off on day one of Donkey Kong Bananza with a skip for the Canyon Layer being discovered. The game features five Bananza transformations that let DK take on the form of a superpowered beast, and the abilities gained through these are integral for completing their specific areas… at least they're meant to be. Spoilers for the final Bananza transformations and a screenshot of an endgame area follow. In the time since Bananza's launch, it's gotten even more intense, as now players have discovered it's technically possible to beat Donkey Kong Bananza without unlocking a number of the Bananza transformations. In a post on Reddit, a user has posted a thread titled "The amount of sequence breaks in this game is crazy" alongside a screenshot of Pauline and DK hanging out in the Planet Core Layer. However, upon closer inspection, the screenshot reveals that they only have the first Bananza transformation (Kong) and the second-to-last one (Elephant) displayed on their HUD. The amout of sequence breaks in this game is crazy from r/donkeykong "Just did a second run of DK Bananza trying to skip as much content as possible and I ended up unlocking only 2 Bananzas in the entire game." The user said, "It's wild how much of the game you can bypass with the right tricks. There are also entire layers you can skip. It's a really fun and surprisingly strategic way to experience the game differently." While this wasn't a speedrun, it definitely shows off the potential of what Donkey Kong Bananza speedruns could be with this much of the game able to be casually bypassed. I'm sure someone will find a way to skip other Bananza's at this rate. Granted, the final area of the game seems pretty much impossible without these, as there's one segment that requires the Zebra Bananza to reach the final boss, but I'm sure that'll be figured out in no time, too. Donkey Kong Bananza credits reignite a popular Mario Kart World fan theory that the beloved gorilla is getting his own expansion in the Switch 2 racer.

My favourite Switch 2 game is already AU$20.95 off on Amazon — get Donkey Kong Bananza for only AU$89
Recently, I wrote an article on the things I love about my Nintendo Switch 2, and I can now add Donkey Kong Bananza to that list. Apart from being the Switch 2's first major release post-launch, it's arguably the best reason to own the new console to date. Although the game shares some similarities to its development team's previous title, Super Mario Odyssey, Donkey Kong Bananza feels like an entirely fresh approach for Nintendo, thanks to its smashable environments and layered levels, as well as the dynamic movement of its title character. Best of all, Donkey Kong Bananza is just AU$109.95 AU$89 on Amazon right now, which is a solid saving of AU$20.95 on the RRP. Pretty good way to dodge Nintendo's next-gen price hike if you ask me... Donkey Kong Bananza is the first must-have title to release for Nintendo Switch 2 since Mario Kart World, boasting a vast subterranean world that's just waiting to be smashed to pieces. Join DK and Pauline on an epic adventure in search of Banandium Gems. Use DK's fists to smash through the terrain and Pauline's singing abilities to transform DK into various animal forms. Now only AU$109.95 AU$89 on Amazon. I've only played the game for a handful of hours so far, but I'm already hooked on its core mechanic of pummelling the environment to smithereens in search of precious Banandium Gems. In fact, I'm finding it hard to move forward in the game without smashing everything in sight — I may have a problem. But don't just take my word for it — in his Donkey Kong Bananza review, my colleague Anthony Spadafora praised the game's "destructible environments and unique visuals." He also described it as "the 3D Donkey Kong game fans of the character have always wanted", though he did note that there were "some camera issues" and "far too many Banandium Gems to collect in a single playthrough." Of course, those minor quibbles shouldn't stop you from playing one of the best Nintendo games in years — especially now that it's received a sweet 19% discount on Amazon, less than a fortnight after its release. Don't own the Nintendo Switch 2 yet? You can find today's best Switch 2 prices below.

Use tech to expand services of IRCS: Guv
1 2 3 4 Mangaluru: Governor Thaawar Chand Gehlot said the Indian Red Cross Society (IRCS) should adopt technology by using digital platforms to expand its humanitarian services. He was speaking after inaugurating the new centenary building of the IRCS Dakshina Kannada (DK) unit at the Old DC office premises on Saturday. Suggesting the IRCS extend its services beyond the traditional approach, he insisted that there is a need for the involvement of more young volunteers in community service through the Youth Red Cross and Junior Red Cross units. He called upon IRCS DK members to put in efforts into making the new centenary building serve as a hub for public welfare activities. "Being a symbol of humanity and selfless service, the IRCS has upheld its ideals for decades. It has been standing as a supporting force with its humanitarian services in times of illness and crisis. The only religion before the IRCS is humanity, and it works for the welfare of society, thereby offering happiness to all," he said. Rapid urbanisation and rising health challenges increase the scope of IRCS services, he said, adding that the organisation has expanded its services to all villages and cities, offering medical care, emergency services, and promoting blood donation. As an international organisation, it has a presence in over 190 countries, he said. IRCS Karnataka has bagged the national award twice for its active involvement in humanitarian services like health initiatives and awareness campaigns. Assembly speaker UT Khader said that the DK unit of the IRCS, which has been offering dedicated service in the district for the past 70 years, has instilled humanitarian values among the young generation. He said the IRCS should continue its effective campaigns by motivating young people to donate blood. "There was a time when people had apprehensions about blood donation. The campaigns of the IRCS instilled confidence among people and made them understand that blood donation is the greatest gift one can give," he added. Dakshina Kannada MP Capt Brijesh Chowta, lauding the efforts of DK IRCS, said that he will extend his support to avail funds through CSR initiatives and govt schemes to expand the Red Cross Society activities in the district. "The govt may not be able to help everyone directly, but organisations like the IRCS can reach the masses," he said. A digital souvenir titled 'Samarpana' was released on the occasion. IRCS Karnataka vice-president Bhaskar Rao, IRCS Dakshina Kannada president Dr Shantharam Shetty, and Mangaluru City South MLA D Vedavyasa Kamath were present.

SEVENTEEN's Joshua breathes new life into Slander's Love Is Gone
In a fresh spin on an emotional classic, SEVENTEEN's Joshua has teamed up with American DJ duo SLANDER for a poignant reimagining of their hit acoustic track Love Is Gone. Released on July 25 at 1 PM KST (9:30 AM IST), the new version highlights Joshua's delicate vocal colour, offering a stripped-back yet emotionally potent take on the track, which originally featured Dylan Matthew, explores the aching emptiness of a love lost. Aaron Rodgers and DK Metcalf are Steelers training camp suitemates
Surprise, surprise. Metcalf has a suite mate. And one who comes with big benefits. The knock came from Aaron Rodgers. "He was like, 'Aw man, I was hoping it was you,'" Metcalf said. Of course, it is no mere coincidence that the legendary quarterback and big-play receiver are sharing a suite, their dorm rooms separated by a bathroom. The arrangement has Mike Tomlin's fingerprints all over it. The crafty Steelers coach has been known to sometimes assign stalls in the locker room while seeking to position new players near certain personalities, for one reason or another. So, why not in this case? That Rodgers and Metcalf will be in such close proximity during training camp - and this camp comes with the need for some serious bonding with several prominent new faces in tow - comes with the potential for all sorts of intangible benefits. "We can talk about a lot of stuff that we see the same on the field, conversations that we might not get to talk about in the meeting room," Metcalf said. "He gets to listen to a lot of my music tastes or hear me yell at the video game sometimes. But it will be fun having him across the hall." Aaron Rodgers went to Mike Tomlin's backyard cookout. There was chemistry (and good food) They will expedite the curve of getting to know each other, that's for sure. Metcalf, the seventh-year veteran obtained in a trade with the Seattle Seahawks, enjoys playing video games in his spare time. Rodgers caught wind of that on Wednesday as Metcalf played an NCAA-themed game on his console. "He walked in my room yesterday and said, 'Oh, you're gaming!'" Metcalf said. "And then he just walked out." Rodgers, 41, has had a healthy share of roommates and suitemates during an NFL career that began 21 years ago in the Green Bay Packers camp at St. Norbert's College. Metcalf, it seems, fits the profile for an ideal suitemate in his mind for reasons that go beyond strengthening the connection with a go-to target. "I was here Tuesday night and not many other guys were here other than the rookies, and when I got in the room and realized we were sharing something, I was secretly hoping it wasn't a big lineman or something," Rodgers said. "Maybe somebody who cared about their hygiene a little bit. So, when I walked in, I saw a standard suitcase. I said, 'Oh, I think it's going to be good. This is probably DK.'" Training camp clearly provides the setting to develop chemistry, and the Steelers' old-school setup - Pittsburgh is one of the few NFL teams that still goes away to a college campus for camp, at St. Vincent's College for the 58th year - amplifies that theme. In the case of Rodgers and Metcalf, though, this chemistry was launched months ago. In March, while Rodgers contemplated his future, Metcalf flew to Los Angeles and worked out with the quarterback at UCLA. It added fuel to the speculation that Rodgers would ultimately sign with the laid a foundation for the current prospects. "We talked about a lot of football stuff," Rodgers said. "We FaceTime, we texted during the offseason after minicamp. So, we've got a good relationship. It's going to just keep on growing." Metcalf: "I'm going to try to soak up as much knowledge as I can. I'm going to listen to everything. Even the criticisms he has; I'm going to be really open, searching for those answers from him. He's had great receivers in the past. I'm just trying to be among them." There is no denying that the bond that Metcalf and Rodgers develop as a go-to connection will be essential to the best-case scenario for the Steelers offense. Yet it's also evident that Rodgers, a newcomer assuming the ultimate leadership position for an established team, has made it a priority to quickly try developing bonds throughout the team. Will Howard, the rookie quarterback, said that he's been struck by Rodgers' tendency to mingle with a wide range of players at every position. That might address one of the questions floated about Rodgers as he went through the process of committing to play this season. Some wondered whether the time he did not spend with the team during the offseason would be a hindrance. Since signing just before the team's mandatory minicamp in June, though, Rodgers has tried to make up for lost time. In the window before training camp, he hosted skill-positioned players for workouts in Malibu, Calif., where he has a home. Steelers' star pass rusher T.J. Watt got his megadeal. Now comes the hard part Also, on the day he signed his one-year contract in June, Rodgers attended a cookout at Tomlin's house and spent several hours mingling with members of the coaching staff. The next day, he went to a cookout that veteran defensive end Cam Heyward hosted at his house for players. And the day after that, Rodgers showed up at Heyward's charity golf tournament. The effort to mesh with his new team was surely noticed. "I know it wasn't on everybody's time frame for when things were supposed to happen, but I can only speak to the man I met," Heyward told USA TODAY Sports. "When a guy comes to my golf outing or comes to my house and interacts with my family, with me and my teammates, that's all I can ask for. I think that's a good start." How it ends remains to be seen for a team hoping to become a legitimate contender. Yet Rodgers seems to be all-in for the bonding - and his new suitemate can vouch for that.
