Denbighshire Leisure Ltd (DLL) are blown away with the response to the release of 300 free outdoor Splash Pad tickets at SC2. After releasing the tickets online to local residents to experience the outdoor SC2 Splash Pad in an exciting 'taster day' today, all the tickets were snapped up in less than 45 minutes. For two session, DLL invited local residents to enjoy the waterpark as a free 'taster' for what's to come this weekend when the outdoor Splash Pad opens to the public. Splash Pad will be open weekends and holidays until the end of the summer, with free sessions after 5pm daily aimed at local people. Sessions can be booked online at Jamie Groves, Managing Director at DLL, said: 'We have had a really tough 18 months with the waterpark being closed and we cannot thank our local community enough for their support during this difficult time. We have decided to open the Outdoor Splash Pad a day early and give 300 tickets for free to show our gratitude for their support, and for them to come and see the Splash Pad in all its glory in the amazing weather predicted tomorrow and this weekend. "Our team at SC2 is really excited to be welcoming everyone back to our much loved attraction and we are looking forward to another fabulous summer in Rhyl! 'Splash Pad' at Rhyl's SC2 to re-open

The outdoor splash area, designed for younger children, toddlers and infants, is centred around a paddling pool. The water is 30cm at its deepest. The re-opening of the Splash Pad follows the return of the main £15 water park, which welcomed visitors again on July 5. The facility had been closed since December 2023 due to storm damage to its roof. A total of 300 free tickets for taster sessions went live earlier today (July 10) - these have since sold out. Jamie Groves, Managing Director at Denbighshire Leisure Ltd (DLL), said: 'Everyone at DLL is really excited to have the water park back in action, and we can't wait to reopen our 'Splash Pad' this weekend, with a free taster session on Friday. Denbighshire groups urged to apply for new grant funding

According to DLL, the grant fits into the 25/26 Shared Prosperity Fund priority of Communities and Place, the theme of Healthy, Safe and Inclusive Communities, and the sub-theme of Healthy: Improve health and wellbeing. Jamie Groves, managing director of DLL, said: "We are delighted to once again be able to support local clubs and organisations to provide funding to improve the health and wellbeing of Denbighshire residents. "Our community is one of the three pillars of our company, and helping maintain community participation and club infrastructure remains a priority for DLL. "With this funding from the UK Government, and Denbighshire County Council, it will enable us to help sustain and support important third sector groups, sports and cultural organisations. "Many clubs and organisations are run by volunteers for the benefit of the local community, and provide opportunities for people to come together, which we know has a positive impact on people's mental health and wellbeing." According to a spokesperson for DLL, the objective of providing this community grant scheme is to support the 'strengthening of our social fabric and sense of local pride and belonging' and will have both 'short term and longer-term benefits'. Grants of between £2,000 and £15,000 are available for capital projects under the scheme. Voluntary and community groups, not-for-profit sports clubs, parish and town councils, charities delivering local services, including uniformed groups, and schools are eligible to apply. Projects must demonstrate how they support either 'Healthy, Safe and Inclusive Communities' or 'Improved health and wellbeing' as outlined by the Shared Prosperity Fund. The funding round opened on June 30 and is set to closes on July 28. The DLL Community Grant Scheme is open to projects in sports, arts, and culture. Applications can be submitted via a downloadable form from the DLL website. More than 600 free tickets were claimed in under 30 minutes for the taster sessions, which served as a thank you to the community for their support during the waterpark's closure for roof repairs. Rhyl Events Arena to host free ‘Summertime Weekender' event

On August 2 and 3, the venue will be full of performances and activities for all ages, for an event that has been organised by Rhyl Town Council and Denbighshire Leisure Ltd (DLL). Tickets are now available, with gates opening at 1pm on both days. The festivities begin on Saturday, August 2 with acts including The Big Pop Party Show – featuring tributes to Taylor Swift, Ariana Grande, Dua Lipa and Meghan Trainor - Queen Rhapsody, performing Queen's hits; and classic rock anthems from tribute band Kaiser Monkey Killers. Sunday (August 3)'s line-up includes Midnight Soul Sisters, delivering soulful Motown classics; Elite Elton, performing the hits of Elton John; and Ska Britannia, known for their energetic performances and showmanship. Families can also enjoy a range of fun and free entertainment at the arena throughout the day, including face painting, balloon modelling, a caricaturist and more. A Rhyl Town Council statement read: 'Rhyl Town Council are really pleased to be joining forces with Denbighshire Leisure Limited this year, and we're thrilled with the line-up for the Summertime Weekender. 'Don't miss out. Grab your free tickets, your sunglasses and your best dancing shoes, and we'll see you there!'
