Bring your furry friends: Dog Days of Summer returns on Sunday

(Sanjay Maru/CTV News Windsor) The Dog Days of Summer event is coming back to Downtown Windsor on Sunday. The event, held by the Downtown Windsor Business Improvement Association (DWBIA) and Dog Training with Kb. Dogs and their humans can gather at Senator Croll Park from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., free of charge. The event will feature entertainment, demonstrations, food trucks, vendors, and dog-friendly fun, supporting the Windsor-Essex Humane Society and the St. John Ambulance Dog Therapy Program. Dog-friendly fun includes dog-designed demos, splash pools, treats and accessories, a $7 Rally Obedience Competition, showing off your pup's skills to judges and the audience, and a dog fashion show. 'The downtown core is always full of energy, but there's something extra special when you add dogs to the mix,' said Chris MacLeod, chair of the DWBIA. 'This event is about creating joyful experiences, supporting great causes, and giving people another reason to come downtown and connect.' Kb Singh, a local dog trainer, said this is about community building for everyone involved. 'Windsor-Essex loves its dogs, so an event like this is a great reminder of how strong the bond is between us and our pets,' said Singh. 'It's an event for our most loyal companions and our fiercest allies.' A free pet photo booth and appearances by the Windsor Police Service K9 Unit, giving scent detection demos, will also be present. More information on the downtown fun is available here.

DWBIA holding Motown Block Party
The Downtown Windsor Business Improvement Association (DWBIA) is holding a Motown Block Party Saturday afternoon. Pitt Street East will be filled with food, drinks, dancing, as Motown hits play. It all begins at 4 p.m. Soul Delegation will play live music from 8 p.m. until 11 p.m. 'Motown isn't just music – it's movement, memory, and magic,' said Chris MacLeod, chair of the DWBIA. 'Bringing that energy to the heart of Windsor is about more than just entertainment – it's about celebrating culture, connection, and the soul of the city.' Admission for the event is free. Beach Bash Volleyball Tournament postponed
Organizers say the Beach Bash Volleyball Tournament has been postponed. The tournament was supposed to be on May 30-31, but has been rescheduled for September 12. It is hosted by the Downtown Windsor Business Improvement Association (DWBIA) and the Rotary Club of Windsor (1918). Matches are planned to take place at three vibrant venues: the newly established Khan Courts at 671 Ouellette Avenue, College Boréal, and On the Beach Bar & Grill. Players of all skill levels are invited to participate in various divisions, including Pro Men and Women's Doubles, Competitive Mixed 4's, Corporate Mixed 6's, and Recreational Mixed 6's. Top teams will vie for impressive prizes, with the leading Mixed 4's team earning an $800 reward.
