Texas A&M Football Wins In-State Recruitment Battle Against Texas For Linebacker DaQuives Beck in More Ways Than One

Texas A&M Football Wins In-State Recruitment Battle Against Texas For Linebacker DaQuives Beck in More Ways Than One originally appeared on Athlon Sports. Texas A&M football landed a blue chip in-state commit on Tuesday, July 1 and kept the Aggies recruitment roll ongoing past June. Head coach Mike Elko has seen success after success in the class of 2026 recruitment cycle, and his most recent commit keeps on adding to that Advertisement Texas A&M Aggies head coach Mike Elko reacting Lysaker/Imagn Images Twenty-four hours after announcing his commitment, four-star linebacker DaQuives Beck shut down his recruitment. He received 20 offers, and Texas A&M's biggest competitors were Texas, SMU, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, and Arizona. Beck is from Carthage, Tex. and is the No. 196 overall recruit from his class. He's also the No. 11 overall linebacker and No. 25 athlete out of Texas. Gabe Brooks of 247Sports wrote in his scouting report of the rising senior that he's a "physical off-ball linebacker prospect" with impressive speed, power, and overall athleticism. In the NCAA, regardless of where he committed, Beck is expected to be a multi-year starter and has NFL potential long-term. Advertisement As a Carthage Bulldog, Beck earned Defensive MVP of the 2024-25 4A Division II State Championship game. He had 10 tackles, 3.5 tackles for loss, and one sack in the contest against Waco La Vega. Beck helped lead his team to the high school program's 10th state championship. He first visited College Station back in January. Beck said to On3 that he and the coaching staff developed a very good relationship, specifically assistant coach Trooper Taylor and defensive coordinator and linebackers coach Jay Bateman. Beck also has connections with the Aggies through a teammate who already committed to Texas A&M: KJ Edwards. Beck is the second linebacker commit for the Aggies after three-star Storm MIller's announcement back on April 2. Now that Beck shut down his recruitment, Elko can focus on the next primary targets, defensive lineman Lamar Brown and wide receiver Boobie Feaster. Brown appears to be going back-and-forth between Texas A&M and LSU. Feaster is currently projected to land with the USC Trojans. 2026 4-star LB places Texas A&M among his final three college choices

2026 4-star LB places Texas A&M among his final three college choices NEWS: Four-Star LB DaQuives Beck is down to Oklahoma, Texas A&M, & Oklahoma State, he tells me for @on3recruits The 6'1 205 LB from Carthage, TX is ranked as a Top 10 LB in the '26 Class (per On3) Where Should He Go? ⬇️ — Hayes Fawcett (@Hayesfawcett3) June 1, 2025 Texas A&M's future at linebacker will always be uncertain, no matter the players on the current roster, as the transfer portal will continue to be an issue for every team until it is eventually regulated. However, coach Mike Elko and his defensive staff have prepared for the inevitable, landing linebackers Noah Mikhail and Kelvion Riggins in the 2025 signing class. In the 2026 cycle, Texas A&M has already received a prediction from On3 to land elite four-star linebacker DaQuives Beck back in early April, which, if this holds, represents the future of the Aggie LB corps once Taurean York and Scooby Williams depart for the NFL, which will likely be the case next April. Like Scooby Williams, Beck's size, speed, and ability to cover the tight end make him one of the more sought-after athletes in the country, and his on-field production lives up to his recruiting grade. As Beck continues to rise in the rankings, he has narrowed his options down to three programs: Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, and Texas A&M. After taking an official visit to Oklahoma State on April 4, Beck will head to College Station for an official visit on June 13, followed by a visit to Baylor for an official visit on June 20, which is surprising given that Baylor did not make his final list. Right now, it's likely between the Cowboys and Aggies, while Texas A&M holds the upper hand. Over his last two seasons, Beck recorded 234 tackles, 12 sacks, 30 tackles for loss, five pass breakups, and two fumble return touchdowns. According to 247Sports, Beck is currently positioned as the 159th-ranked prospect in the 2026 class, the 9th-ranked linebacker, and the 23rd-ranked prospect in Texas. Oklahoma Sooners among top 3 for 2026 4-star linebacker from Texas

Oklahoma Sooners among top 3 for 2026 4-star linebacker from Texas The Oklahoma Sooners have begun to make some headway on the defensive side of the ball in the 2026 recruiting class. Oklahoma earned their first defensive commitment in May in safety Niko Jandreau. And that was quickly followed by commitments from linebacker Jakore Smith and defensive lineman Brian Harris. Now, the Sooners may be closing in on another defensive standout. According to Hayes Fawcett of On3, Oklahoma is among the top three for four-star linebacker DaQuives Beck out of Carthage, Texas. Beck is considered a top 10 linebacker in the 2026 cycle by ESPN and 247Sports and is a top 200 player in the 247Sports Composite and the On3 Industry Rankings. Beck's top three includes Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, and Texas A&M, and he holds offers from SEC schools like Texas, Ole Miss, Missouri, Tennessee, Arkansas, and Mississippi State. He also has offers from Oregon, SMU, Baylor, TCU, Houston, and Texas Tech. He's a versatile linebacker who would be a fantastic fit as the cheetah in Brent Venables' defense. Beck shows the ability to line up along the line of scrimmage and set the edge in the run game. He's physical at the point of attack and has the strength to hold up offensive tackles in the run game. He's got a great first step off the edge that often leaves him getting into the backfield unblocked. Beck displays a great motor, chasing down ball carriers when the play runs the opposite way. He can also line up as an off-ball linebacker and shows the awareness to diagnose the play and track down the ball carrier. Beck plays with good speed and athleticism and shows the ability to drop and play in coverage. The Sooners will have a significant recruiting battle on their hands to win Beck's services but it appears they're in great shape to add one of the best linebackers in the 2026 recruiting class. Texas A&M is predicted to land 2026 4-star LB out of Carthage (TX)

Texas A&M is predicted to land 2026 4-star LB out of Carthage (TX) On3's @SWiltfong_ has logged an expert prediction for Texas A&M to land 4-star LB DaQuives Beck👍 — On3 Recruits (@On3Recruits) April 9, 2025 Texas A&M's 2026 recruiting class could land its 11th commitment sooner than later, as one of the top-ranked linebacker prospects in the cycle, four-star DaQuives Beck, has received a prediction to land with the Aggies, according to On3's Steve Wiltfong. Beck's relationship with coach Mike Elko and defensive coordinator Jay Bateman has been growing since the start of the 2025 offseason. Beck's surprise visit to College Station in early February was more significant than some fans may have thought. Still, knowing the future of Texas A&M's linebacker rotation, his potential addition is beyond crucial once Scooby Williams leaves. At the same time, Taurean York could enter the 2026 NFL Draft if he has the year most of us are expecting. Beck's rise isn't due to his natural skillset, even though he is an impressive athlete. Still, his production on the field has continued to catch the eye of every Power 5 program in Texas, and he looks like an immediate contributor as soon as he steps on campus. Elko has already proven his recruiting chops, as all 10 Aggies' commitments are four-star rated prospects. During his junior season at Carthage (TX) HS, Beck was named Defensive MVP during the Texas 4A D-II state championship, recording 10 tackles, 3.5 TFL, and one sack in an impressive performance. According to 247Sports, Beck is currently positioned as the 153rd-ranked prospect in the 2026 class, the 9th-ranked linebacker, and the 22nd-ranked prospect in Texas.
