He wanted to prove that he was the best musician in his family and often tried to ruin my father's career. Whenever my father got a film, he would snatch his work by luring the producers with a little money or work for free; he is a thief.' They Used To Play Games Speaking further, Amaal spoke about how Anu Malik and Sajid Wajid destroyed his father's work by playing mind games. He said, 'Anu Malik's mistakes inspired me to prove myself. Not only Anu Malik, Sajid-Wajid also ruined my father's career. They used to play games. My father was betrayed by his own family and friends in the music industry. My father was so naive that he could not fight back. Amaal further told that Mahesh Bhatt was about to make a deal with his father for the music of 'Murder' but Anu Malik cleverly snatched it from him. This was one of the many projects that he snatched from his father Dabboo. These professional betrayals pushed Dabboo towards depression. I Just Wanted To Remove The Tag Amaal also mentioned about his father's depression period and said, 'My father struggled with depression from the age of 32 to 45. I kept all this in my soul. I was a child. Things got imprinted on my heart. I started working at the age of 16 and my only motivation was to take revenge through my music. The industry did not understand his talent and goodness. They did not support him. He saw many ups and downs in his life. He has worked in at least 70 films, but no one ever called him. He was often called Anu Malik's brother. He is struggling. I just wanted to remove the tag of struggle from him.'

Calling Anu Malik 'overly competitive', he said that the renowned music composer has often tried to sabotage Daboo Malik's career. Amaal claimed that every time his dad got work, Anu Malik would snatch it from the producers by offering to work for little money or even free. Amaal added that Anu Malik often competes with him as well. While speaking with Siddharth Kannan, Amaal Mallik said, 'When Daboo Malik and Anu Malik meet, you can't separate them. They are like mad brothers. But, in the professional dynamics and jealousy, Anu Malik can get a little fiery. They have had issues with each other on the professional front. Anu Malik was overly competitive with my father. He wanted to prove that he is the best composer from his family and often tried to sabotage my dad's career. Amaal Mallik Alleges Sajid-Wajid Also Sabotaged Daboo Malik's Career He further stated that it was Anu Malik's wrongdoings that made him want to prove himself. He also alleged that not just Anu Malik, even composer duo Sajid-Wajid sabotaged Daboo Malik's career. 'They would play games. My dad was betrayed by his own family and friends from the music industry. My dad was too naive to fight back," he said. He further shared that his father dealt with depression from age 32 to 45. When Amaal began working at the age of 16, he only wanted to take 'revenge' with his music. He expressed his disappointment with the music industry and said that it failed to support Daboo Malik. 'He has worked on at least 70 films but nobody ever invited him. He was often addressed as Anu Malik's brother… He's struggling. I just wanted to rip off the struggling tag from him. I just want to do something that people don't address us as Anu Malik's nephews but, introduce him as uncle of Armaan and Amaal," he said. Amaal further added that Anu Malik also often tries to encroach on his projects. 'Not just my father's work, but Anu Malik is behind my work as well. A lot of times when I make announcements, he jumps into that as well. He competes with me too. But, at least he respects me and tells me I have done some tremendous work," said Amaal. A while ago, Amaal Malik penned a long note recently on social media where the singer, song-writer revealed that he's breaking ties with hsi family. He spoke about his strained relationship with his parents Daboo Malik and Jyoti Malik and said that they were also responsible for his strained relationship with his brother Armaan Malik . Amaal had said, "Through the last many years, they have left no opportunity to disturb my well-being and belittle all my friendships, my relationships, my mindset, my self-confidence. The journey has been terrific for both of us, but the actions of my parents have been the reason we as brothers have gone too far from one another." Now in a recent interview, Amaal has revealed that his girlfriend broke up with him because he's a Muslim. After Armaan Malik reveals ex-girlfriend broke up because of his ‘Muslim background', father Daboo Malik assures he's ‘always there'
Earlier this year, singer Armaan Malik revealed he's severed ties with his parents — veteran music composer Daboo Malik and Jyoti Malik. Weeks after that, Armaan's elder brother and composer Amaal Mallik also followed suit. He claimed while his bond with Armaan is 'stronger than ever,' he blamed their parents for creating a gap between the two brothers. Now, Daboo has reached out to Armaan on Instagram after the latter opened up on issues he's faced in his love life in the past. He claimed that an ex-girlfriend had dumped him because of his 'Muslim background,' although he maintains 'there is not even I of Islam in me.' She'd even asked Armaan to gatecrash her wedding. Daboo Malik commented on SCREEN's Instagram post detailing these revelations by Armaan. 'Son… Remember your father is always there… I know your pain and I love you to eternity… There can be no one like you…,' he wrote. Armaan is yet to respond to his father's comment.
