Perth's Faith Ward achieves ‘life-long dream' after becoming the newest Dallas Cowboys cheerleader

Perth dancer Faith Ward is ready to saddle up as the newest member of the illustrious Dallas Cowboy Cheerleaders. The 22-year-old, known as Flexi Faith, was announced today as one of six rookies that will join the team of 36 after being presented her iconic blue crop top. She is the latest member of the team that dates back to 1961 that have donned the recognisable crop top, white hot pants, cowboy boots and pom poms who will live on the sidelines at AT&T stadium this NFL season. Ms Ward, who has more than 200,000 followers on TikTok, competed against thousands of aspiring cheerleaders that were vying for just six spots on the 36-woman squad, after she successfully made it through a rigorous application process. It began with the wide-eyed dancer sending through dance photos and videos, with each applicant required to learn specific choreography in their auditions before being invited to Texas. After making it through the first trials in June, Ms Ward said, 'no matter the outcome, it'll be amazing to be part of the experience, and making it this far is already just incredible.' Now the hard work has paid off for the New Zealand export who moved to Australia when she was 10, with aspirations of becoming a dancer, and now she has fulfilled a 'long-term dream' after reaching the pinnacle of the cheerleading world. Born with double-jointed hips, Ms Ward began working as a professional dancer at 18, performing on cruise ships - but now she will be on the big stage, in front of more than 90,000 people every game. The cheerleaders that are affectionately called 'America's Sweethearts', support the American Football team the Dallas Cowboys, undoubtedly the biggest sports franchise in the world. The squad has long been adored across the United States, but they recently gained global popularity thanks to the Netflix docuseries America's Sweethearts: Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders, which went behind the scenes of the squad for an entire NFL season. Despite the national pride the group carry for America, Ms Ward isn't the first from Down Under to don the Lone Star - with the past DCC alumni including Aussies Angela Nicotera Brown and Jinelle Esther. The hard work for Ms Ward has only just begun, as members of the squad are required to put in hours equivalent to that of a full time job - but she comes in at a golden time after the squad received a significant pay rise this off season. Following heavy public scrutiny, the Cowboys franchise - which is worth more than $15b - has given the cheerleaders a 400 per cent pay rise, meaning Ms Ward will pocket a salary of around $77,000. Which many argue still feels like under's considering the time and effort they put in to keep up with the physical requirements. As the football team enters training camp, the cheerleaders will be entering their own with the first home preseason game for the Cowboys scheduled for August 17, before their season officially kicks off at their home turf in Arlington, Texas on September 15.

I'm a Squid Game superfan and we need to talk about that Season 3 ending

*Warning: Contains major spoilers for Squid Game Season 3* To quote the Dallas Cowboy Cheerleaders (my other Netflix obsession), Squid Game is often imitated but never equalled. The twisty Korean thriller brought not only a totally unique aesthetic to viewers, but a gut-punching storyline that never unfolds in quite the way you'd expect. That was never more true than for Season 3 of the show which picks up after Season 2's bloody - and let's face it, doomed from the start - rebellion. In the newest episodes, Player 456 Gi-hun (Lee Jung-jae) is a ghost of his former self until he finds himself responsible for the survival of Player 222 Jun-hee's (Jo Yuri) newborn baby. READ MORE: 'The fire happened right underneath our room, so it was one of the first to be destroyed. It's horrific' READ MORE: Sainsbury's urgently recalls two popular drinks from shelves amid safety fears While he couldn't save his relationship with his own daughter, Gi-hun sees an opportunity to make amends by ensuring this child makes it, especially given it was Jun-hee's last wish that he protected the baby at all costs before she fell to her death. The show's director made clear that the baby is symbolic of "humanity and conscience", with Gi-hun feeling like he's "looking at his own daughter" when holding her. For many viewers, it quickly became obvious that at some point Player 456 would have to make a terrible choice between his own survival and that of the baby. Lo and behold that's exactly what happens, but the way in which it unfolds is no less shocking. While you may be able to predict some of the twists in the show, the way in which they actually happen remains astounding and is testament to the quality of the writing. In the very last game in the Season 3, Sky Squid Game, Gi-hun and the baby's real father Myung-gi (Yim Si-wan) are the last two adults standing, meaning surely the baby could have at least one father figure post-games. No such luck: the pair fight and Myung-gi falls to his death before the round officially starts meaning just Gi-hun and the baby remain, with one player still needing to be eliminated. While the VIPs watching on think Gi-hun will sacrifice the baby, he chooses to end his own life and in the process confronts them and Front Man (Lee Byung-hun) with his humanity. It is a poetic, dramatic and highly-emotional moment and from this point, we see a huge shift in Front Man as he sits uncomfortably with his newfound feelings as he torches the whole island to evade capture by the Coast Guard. A happy ending in the Squid Game universe is always bittersweet, but viewers definitely get more happiness than in previous seasons with a number of storylines satisfyingly concluded, including the baby becoming a newly-minted Squid Game winner and the revelation that Pink Guard No-eul's (Park Gyu-young) daughter may actually be alive after all. But before viewers breathe a sigh of relief that Player 456's sacrifice finally brought an end to the brutal games, we discover there's another branch. After returning Gi-hun's belongings to his family in LA, Front Man encounters a besuited Cate Blanchett playing ddakji in an alleyway, confirming the games were actually an international affair and bigger than we ever thought. Ultimately Player 456's sacrifice was for nothing and the misery and suffering perpetuates. Viewers that expected anything else missed the point. From where I'm standing, it was the perfect ending to a perfect show, and I'll certainly be lapping up every spin-off that comes next. All seasons of Squid Game are now streaming on Netflix

Dallas Cowboy Cheerleader-approved setting spray keeps make-up in place all day

Netflix's Dallas Cowboy Cheerleaders is back, and we've got the answer on what setting spray keeps the girls make-up in place in the Texas sun just in time for our next heatwave If, like me, you've been binging the new season of the Dallas Cowboy Cheerleaders on Netflix, and are left wondering what exactly they use to keep their make-up in place during the Texas heat, you're in luck as we've got the answer. And with our own heatwave back on its way for the weekend, this information has come just in time. After a little digging, we found pro make-up artist Madeline Cope 's DCC make-up tutorial on team member Reece Weaver, and she let us in on the whole sweatproof routine. The MUA confirmed that it's the combination of the ONE/SIZE Secure The Sweat Primer, priced at £34 at Sephora, topped off with the ONE/SIZE On 'Til Dawn Mattifying Waterproof Setting Spray, currently £15 for the mini size, that's the secret to having your make-up last all day long. The ONE/SIZE Setting Spray features a non-sticky aerosol application, and claims to keep full glam make-up in place for up to 16 hours. What makes it especially great for warmer weather is the green tea extract and witch hazel. The green tea helps to tighten pores, which gives that blurring, airbrushed effect, while the witch hazel absorbs any excess oil, for a mattified, shine-free finish. And the Dallas Cowboy Cheerleaders aren't the only ones to give this heavy-duty setting spray their seal of approval. Back during the Renaissance World Tour, Beyoncé's make-up artist Rokael Lizama confirmed it was the ONE/SIZE spray that kept the superstar's make-up in place during sweating temperatures and torrential downpours. If it's good enough for Beyoncé and the DCC, it's definitely good enough for us this summer. However, if a matte finish isn't your thing, ONE/SIZE has a glitter version, that washes your face with an iridescent shimmer - perfect for summer festivals or concerts! A couple other products the cheerleaders use to get their flawless glam includes, Makeup By Mario's SurrealSkin Foundation, priced at £42, and Hourglass' Ambient Lighting Palette, priced at £68.

Rachael Martin, beauty director says, 'At this point it's genuinely difficult for me to find a Charlotte Tilbury product that I don't love. This one is a dream for those with oily, combination skin types in particular. Just a sweep works hard to balance the skin thanks to the infusion of nourishing rose wax and almond oil. These work together with the mattifying pigments to create glow - but in all the right places. The staying power is great, but I do benefit from a top up around the sides of my nose around 4pm. Then, my make-up will sit beautifully right through to cocktail hour. My only gripe? Charlotte Tilbury's packaging. It fades and flakes fast, meaning you'll loose the luxe feeling quickly. But perhaps this is a small price to pay for beautiful make-up? I certainly think so.' Pros Flawless finish Oil-absorbing Cons For the price some reviews expect a powder puff 12. TARTE Tartelette Tubing Mascara What the brand says: 'Lash extensions in a tube! Our 1st-ever tubing mascara with micro-tubing technology is like a cashmere wrap for your lashes.' What we know: Tubing mascaras use a special formula that wraps each lash in water-resistant, tube-like polymers rather than coating them in traditional pigment. This means less smudging, flaking, and super easy removal with just warm water - the 'tubes' slide right off without rubbing. Renee Washington, Grazia's digital fashion and beauty writer says, 'This mascara somehow makes my lashes look longer and healthier, and I never get that crunchy feeling some mascaras leave behind.' Pros Lengthening Comes in brown and black Cons Some reviews say its hard to remove 13. Kosas The Sun Show Glowy Warmth Talc-Free Baked Bronzer What the brand says: 'Founded by creative polymath Sheena Yaitanes, Kosas blurs the line between make up and skin care. Fusing complexion-complementing ingredients to create botanical-rich formulas, the brand's covetable cosmetics are just as soothing and hydrating as they are powerfully pigmented, and The Sun Show Glowy Warmth Talc-Free Baked Bronze (6g) is no exception. A smoothing powder, it's your one-stop-shop for a naturally bronzed look.' What we know: This bronzer is a makeup and skincare hybrid, it is infused with meadowfoam oil and shea butter so it cares for your skin whilst adding a nice glow. Renee Washington, Grazia's digital fashion and beauty writer says, 'Kosas always nails that skin-loving, makeup-meets-skincare vibe. This bronzer warms skin beautifully.' Pros Clean indgredients Nice packaging Buildable Cons Some reviews say it leans a bit red or golden, which might not work for cooler undertones. Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders get 400% pay raise

America's sweethearts are getting a raise. The Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders secured a pay raise of approximately 400% for the 2025 season. The pay bump is revealed in episode 7 ("Saturn Returns") of the second season of "America's Sweethearts: Dallas Cowboy Cheerleaders," which began streaming on Netflix June 18. In the episode, Megan McElaney, a four-year veteran of the team, speaks to the camera, telling the audience there are "new changes" this season. "Our efforts were heard and they wanted to give us a raise," McElaney says. "And we ended up getting a 400% increase, which is like, life-changing." "'Happy' isn't even the right word for it," former cheerleader Jada McLean says separately. "I think I was just... kind of felt, like, a relief -- like everything had paid off. And it was, you know, finally, we were done fighting." "We pushed, and we got back good results," fellow team member Armani Latimer adds. When reached by ABC News about the matter, the Dallas Cowboys said, "We're pleased, as you'll see in the series, that the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders were happy with the outcome." In September 2019, the Cowboys settled a lawsuit with former cheerleader Erica Wilkins and doubled the cheerleaders' game-day pay from $200 to $400. The Dallas Cowboys are one of the most valuable NFL teams in the league. Forbes ranked the organization as the No. 1 richest league at over $10 billion in 2024.
