Santi Aldama agrees to three-year contract extension with Memphis Grizzlies
Santi Aldama is expected to sign a three-year extension to remain with the Memphis Grizzlies, according to a June 30 report from ESPN. The new deal is expected to be worth $52 million. The NBA free agency period opened at 5 p.m. CT on June 30. Teams may talk with players and come to an agreement, but contracts cannot be signed until July 6. Advertisement Aldama, a 6-foot-11 forward, was acquired by Memphis in the 2021 NBA Draft with the 30th overall pick. He has worked his way into one of the team's best scorers in a reserve role. He averaged a career-high 12.5 points and 6.4 rebounds in the 2024-25 season. Memphis is losing 3-point shooting after Desmond Bane was traded, and Luke Kennard reportedly will sign with the Atlanta Hawks. That made bringing back Aldama even more important. Memphis Grizzlies star Jaren Jackson Jr. is dealing with a right foot injury. Jackson is expected to undergo a procedure to repair a turf toe injury in his right foot, the Grizzlies announced on July 1. He suffered the injury in a live basketball run away from team facilities. Advertisement The news comes a day after Jackson agreed to sign a new five-year contract extension worth $240 million with the Grizzlies. A timeline will be provided after Jackson undergoes the procedure. This is the second notable injury to a Grizzlies starter this offseason. Zach Edey underwent a procedure to stabilize his left ankle. Edey is expected to miss the start of the season. The timeline of Jackson's injury will be an important development. Memphis Grizzlies trade up, pick Washington State's Cedric Coward at No. 11 in 2025 NBA Draft
The Memphis Grizzlies have traded up and selected the draft rights to Cedric Coward out of Washington State with the 11th overall pick in the 2025 NBA Draft on June 25, the NBA announced. Coward, a 6-foot-6 forward, played six games with Washington State last season after transferring from Eastern Washington. He averaged 17.7 points, 7.0 rebounds and 3.7 assists with the Cougars before suffering a season-ending shoulder injury. Advertisement Memphis is sending the Portland Trail Blazers its No. 16 overall pick, a 2028 first-round pick from the Orlando Magic and two second-round picks. Before transferring to Washington State, Coward averaged 15.4 points, 6.7 rebounds and shot 38.3% on 3-pointers as a sophomore at Eastern Washington. He originally announced his commitment to Duke while also entering the draft. He became one of the fastest risers at the NBA draft combine after a standout performance in May. Memphis Grizzlies acquire Jahmai Mashack with final pick in the second round of NBA Draft
The Memphis Grizzlies are acquiring Jahmai Mashack with the 59th overall pick in the 2025 NBA draft. Mashack, a guard from the University of Tennessee, joins Javon Small and Cedric Coward as members of the Grizzlies' 2025 draft class. Advertisement Memphis originally owned the 56th overall pick. In a trade with the Golden State Warriors, Memphis moved back to the 59th and final selection in the draft.
