Who do you love? Presenting the 2025 ‘Dollars and sense' Chicago sports media survey
'Dollars and sense' is a column about Chicago sports media and business. It's been three years since we last conducted a Chicago sports media survey, and the world is slightly different from what it was in 2022. There's a new TV network in town, and former 670 The Score host Dan Bernstein, a big winner in 2019 and 2022, is out of a job. Advertisement So I figured it was a good time to do a new survey and see how you feel about the current state of sports media in Chicago. You can vote below or through this link. I know it's Chicago, but please only vote once — pause for groans at the oldest Chicago joke in the world — as the sanctity of the survey is at stake. We'll keep it open until Monday, July 14. Chicago radio host Dan Bernstein out at The Score
Dan Bernstein, the longtime voice of Chicago sports, no longer works for 670 The Score. What they're saying:"We wish him nothing but the best and thank him for his time and service," vice president Mitch Rosen said to listeners on Friday afternoon as he announced the departure. Context: Bernstein was serving a week-long suspension after a social media fight over the size of a fish got ugly, with Bernstein apparently threatening to dox another X user's children. The exchange also caused the charity Camp One Step to remove him from its board of directors. Zoom out: Bernstein started at the sports station in 1995 and has been part of some of the most successful shows in Chicago sports radio history, including the "Boers and Bernstein" show which ended when co-host Terry Boers retired in 2017. He's also hosted solo on the station. "He is the smartest, funniest and most talented host in the history of Chicago sports radio," FS1's Danny Parkins said on X.

Dan Bernstein fired from 670 The Score after doxing controversy
Dan Bernstein, a longtime host at Chicago sports radio station 670 The Score, has been fired following allegations of doxing in a social media dispute. The decision was announced on air by station head Mitch Rosen on March 21, 2025, at approximately 1:50 p.m. An email was also sent to station staff confirming Bernstein's immediate departure. The controversy began when Bernstein posted a photo of himself holding a northern pike with the caption, "This was a helluva fight." A social media user accused him of killing the fish, to which Bernstein responded that it had been released. The user remained skeptical, leading to an argument where Bernstein allegedly threatened to reveal the user's identity and referenced involving the person's children. Screenshots of the exchange circulated online before the posts were deleted. Following the backlash, Bernstein was removed from the board of directors for Camp One Step by Children's Oncology Services, an organization he had long supported. The charity stated that Bernstein's remarks did not align with its values. Bernstein had been with 670 The Score since 1995, co-hosting several popular programs, including "Boers and Bernstein" and "Bernstein & Holmes." While known for his strong opinions on Chicago sports, he had previously faced criticism for controversial remarks. His termination highlights the consequences of online behavior and the increasing scrutiny of social media conduct in professional settings.
