Motherwell 'definitely need some pace' this summer

With the transfer window now open for business for the remainder of the summer, we asked for your views on what new Motherwell boss Jens Berthel Askou what some of you had to say:Mark: We need depth. Not quantity over quality, but meaningful depth. A solid central defender is a must after Dan Casey's exit. A creative midfielder would also come nicely with the money we should get for Lennon Miller. A new wide player and a striker who's not allergic to goal would also be a step in the right Pace! Tom Sparrow and Tawanda Maswanhise aside, we were too pedestrian going forward and back. If our new manager is true to his word on a preference for pressing, he'll have to get some younger legs in from front to He needs youth and energy in the team, so many last season were going through the Definitely some pace. A must. A goalscorer/poacher, doesn't need to be a great player. Strength in midfield. Suppose a lot will depend on the money coming in for Miller. Maybe some hidden gems the manager is aware of.

Casey turns down chance to stay at Motherwell as he sizes up move to England

Dan Casey has turned down the opportunity to remain at Motherwell as he sizes up a move to England. The Irish defender made 85 appearances for the Steelmen over the past two-and-a-half years after joining, initially on a short-term deal, in February 2023. Well – currently without a manager – attempted to persuade Casey to stay beyond the expiry of his contract this summer, but the 27-year-old has opted to leave the Fir Park club. 'Dan Casey will not be returning to Motherwell for the 2025/26 season,' read a statement from Well on Monday. 'After offering Casey a contract at Fir Park, the Irish centre-back has decided to pursue options down in England. 'The club would like to thank Dan for his efforts and dedication in his time at Motherwell and wish him nothing but the best for the future.' Former Cork and Bohs star wants English club move after rejecting SPL stay

Dan Casey is looking to pursue a move to an English club after rejecting an offer to stay at Motherwell. Former Cork City and Bohs defender Casey, 27, was with the Steelmen since February 2023 and played 85 times for the club since initially moving on a short-term deal. However the club has confirmed that Casey has decided to move on, having turned down a new deal with the SPL outfit. His loss is a blow as Casey played 41 times last term - more than any other player at the club - and with the club currently looking for a new manager, following Michael Wimmer's departure last month. 'My time with Motherwell has come to an end," said Casey. "I've loved every minute of being here. 'Some of my favourite football memories were made here and I'll always be grateful for that. "A huge thank you to all the Motherwell staff, my teammates and especially the fans for everything.'
