'Great bit of business' - your views on James' new deal

We asked for your views on Dan James' new long-term deal at the club. Here are some of your comments:Mark C: Can't fault James in terms of the loyalty and consistency he has shown, so securing him on a long-term contract feels right. His experience will be a valuable asset going Absolutely delighted that Dan James has signed a long-term deal to stay at Leeds. His work rate and commitment is exemplary. Well done DJ is probably the most improved player in the squad over the last two seasons. He's turned from a one dimensional speed merchant into a tricky, hard working all-rounder. Credit must go to Daniel Farke and his coaching Excellent news that our best player from last season is happy to extend his contract with us in his prime, and have a real good crack at the Premier League again next up for news notifications on your clubPaul: Best bit of news out of Elland Road for a long, long He's been a brilliant performer for Leeds, especially once he got rid of his Old Trafford hangover. His pace and directness will scare even the most seasoned Premier League defender but I expect there will be some tackling skulduggery to try and slow him down to be Dan James has had a couple of fabulous Championship seasons so I'm delighted he has signed up again. It's as important to retain the right players as it is to sign new ones. His speed will be vital to Leeds if we play counter attacking football so it's great to have him on This is a great bit of business for us and James. He was not only our best player but arguably the best player in the Championship too. He never stops working and he's finally getting that end product that was missing, plus he has plenty of Premier League experience. Delighted!

Dan James's new deal provides continuity for Leeds amid raft of squad changes

Leeds United have been given a significant boost ahead of their Premier League return with Dan James agreeing a new long-term deal at Elland Road. James, 27, won the club's Player Of The Year award last season for his performances in the Championship title-winning campaign in which Daniel Farke's team reached 100 points. The Wales international, a £25 million signing from Manchester United in 2021, had one full season left on his previous terms and has agreed a new four-year deal with Leeds set to announce he has committed his future to the club. Farke is shaping his squad for next month's season opener against Everton on August 18, with James firmly in his plans as he looks to buck the trend of promoted clubs struggling in the top flight. James made 37 appearances last season playing on the right wing, scoring 12 goals in total as Leeds reached the century mark for points. James also has the World Cup next year in his sights, having played at the 2022 tournament in Qatar where he started against USA and England. In his four seasons at Leeds he was signed by Marcelo Bielsa and stayed with the club when they went into the Championship and looked to bounce back, with other senior players transferred or loaned to other clubs. All change at Elland Road – the ins and outs so far Leeds have drafted in Belgian centre-back Sebastiaan Bornauw in a deal from Wolfsburg worth £5.1 million. The 26-year-old has been on the radar of other Premier League clubs while playing in Bundesliga, with Leeds moving swiftly to secure him on a four-year deal. Leeds have also signed Lukas Nmecha on a free transfer after he left Wolfsburg. Jaka Bijol has also arrived for around £15 million. It has also been confirmed that left-back Junior Firpo has left the club following the end of his contract, with the 28-year-old set to sign for Real Betis.
