Recall issued for products sold at Costco as shoppers are urged to stop using everyday items
Costco is advising shoppers to inspect their items following an abundance of product recalls. The chain sent out several notices last month informing members that companies have recalled a variety of products sold at stores nationwide. Its latest notice was for the Anker Power Bank's A1257 models after experts discovered potential issues with its lithium-ion battery cells from single vendors. The product is similar to the Anker PowerCore Power Bank model A1263, sold between June 1, 2016 and December 31, 2022. All Anker Power Bank owners are advised by the company to stop using them immediately if they're affected. Another product experts advise Costco members to stop using is the recalled Danby 8k U-Shaped Window Air Conditioner due to mold risks from slow water drainage. Other recalled air conditioners were manufactured by brands like Midea, Comfort Aire, Danby, Frigidaire, Insignia, Keystone, LBG Products, Mr. Cool, Perfect Aire and Sea Breeze. Midea's U-Shape Window ACs took a massive hit after it was discovered that six of its models' pooled water units showed possible signs of mold creation. Owners of Danby 8k U-Shaped Window Air Conditioner are advised to stop using the machines immediately Power banks and air conditioners were not the only danger for Costco members. Costco members who purchased Michelin Agilis CrossClimate C-Metric Tires sized 185/60R15C were informed they failed to meet safety standards for tire endurance. According to the notice, the tires did not meet the standard because 'chunks of tread rubber may detach from the shoulder block.' Owners of Bridgestone Blizzak 6 Tires Size 235/40R19 may also have issues after it was discovered the items were missing a Department of Transportation (DOT) certification seal. The DOT found that tires missing the seal may be more likely to crash. The other item Costco suggests members get rid of immediately is BowFlex adjustable dumbbells due to the possibility of weight plates dislodging from the handle during use. Costco also sent out notices for 18-packs of Topo Chico Mineral Water from select locations in five states. The membership-only chain has time windows on certain products. Customers returning electronics have a 90-day return window, and some returns may depend on warranties. Costco has also sent out notices for Topo Chico Mineral Water Some returns may have time tables or depend on the length of warranties Many items have been recalled this year. The automobile industry has taken a massive hit with over one million vehicles being recalled so far. Ford recalled approximately 534,755 vehicles last month, and Nissan is recalling over 480,000 cars in the US and Canada. Publix issued two recalls of ground beef in less than a week over concerns the food contained 'foreign material.' Other major recalls this year include vitamins sold at Target and Walmart, an entire line of defibrillators, and blueberries distributed by Alma Pak International LLC.

Costco shoppers urged to stop using some recalled items immediately
Costco shoppers may want to check their purchases for recalls. The popular retailer has flagged nearly a dozen recalled items in recent months, from various manufacturers. The products range from power banks to window air conditioners, some of which consumers are advised to stop using immediately. Several items were sold through Costco Next, a program that lets shoppers purchase items directly from brands at Costco prices. Others were sold through Costco. Here's what customers should know about recalls and returns at Coscto. Anker Power Bank (10K, 22.5W) — Model A1257 (Costco Next): The recall notice indicates a "potential issue involving lithium-ion battery cells from a single vendor" with minimal likelihood to malfunction. It doesn't go into detail, but Anker's website says consumers should "Stop using the device immediately." Anker Powercore 10000 Power Bank Model A1263 (Costco Next): The recall notice says the power bank may overheat, posing a potential fire risk. Anker's website says consumers should "Immediately stop using the product." Danby 8k U-Shaped Window Air Conditioner: The recall notice says units may not drain water quickly enough, which can lead to mold, and advises consumers to "Stop using it immediately." The Consumer Product Safety Commission notes these air conditioners were across various retailers under different brands: Midea, Comfort Aire, Danby, Frigidaire, Insignia, Keystone, LBG Products, Mr. Cool, Perfect Aire and Sea Breeze. Midea U-Shape Window AC's (Item #'s 1572673, 1657921, 1677429, 1768985, 2677450, and 2677429): The recall notice says pooled water in the unit may lead to mold, which can trigger respiratory issues or other infections. Michelin Agilis CrossClimate C-Metric Tires Size 185/60R15C: The recall notice says the tires fail to meet a federal safety standard for tire endurance, and "chunks of tread rubber may detach from the shoulder block." Bridgestone Blizzak 6 Tires Size 235/40R19: The recall notice says these tires are missing a Department of Transportation certification seal, and while they comply with performance requirements, DOT has found that tires without the seal may be used inappropriately, potentially increasing the risk of a crash. BowFlex Adjustable Dumbbells: The recall notice cites reports of weight plates dislodging from the handle during use, posing risk of impact. Consumers are advised to "immediately stop using" these. Topo Chico Mineral Water Glass 18pk - Select Lot Code - Select Locations in Texas and Louisiana: The recall notice says the water may be contaminated with pseudomonas, which occur naturally in water sources like mineral water and may pose minor health consequences in people with weakened immune systems. Fresh and Ready Foods Prepared Sandwiches and Salads (Multiple Items) AZ, CA, NV and WA Business Center Locations Only: The recall notice says select items with a use by date of May 11 may be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes and should not be consumed. The organism can cause serious and potentially fatal infections in young children, "frail or elderly people" and others with weaker immune systems. It may also lead to miscarriages and stillbirths. Igloo 90 Qt Flip & Tow Rolling Cooler: The recall notice says there's a risk of the tow handle pinching consumers' fingertips against the cooler, leading to "fingertip amputation and crushing hazards." Consumers are urged to "please immediately stop using the cooler." Ninja Foodi Pressure Cooker + Air Fryer: The recall notice cites reports of pressure cooker lids being able to be opened while pressurized, leading to severe burns. Consumers are advised not to use the pressure-cooking function until they get a replacement lid. Nissan recalls over 440,000 vehicles: See the impacted models To find Costco's latest recalls, visit the Product Recalls section of its website. Past recalls are also archived online. Consumers can check for other recalls across retailers and manufacturers on the websites of the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, U.S. Food & Drug Administration, U.S. Department of Agriculture Food Safety and Inspection Service and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. All of those sites have searchable databases. CPSC, FDA and USDA also list recalls in reverse chronological order. USA TODAY also maintains a database of recalled items. Costco accepts most returns without time limits, though there are some exceptions. Electronics have a 90-day return window. Cigarettes and alcohol may not be returned where it's against the law. Airline and live performance event items, ticket items, precious metals, Shop Cards and gift cards are not returnable. Diamonds larger than 1.00 carats must have all original paperwork for returns and are subject to authentication. Tires, batteries and other products with limited use life expectancy may have product-specific limited warranties. Custom products made to order from Special Order Kiosk and Custom Installed Programs may not be returned or refunded, "except for warranty repair/replacement due to failure to meet specifications." Recalls are separate from standard returns. Consumers should check recall notices for next steps on specific items. Costco just issued a massive recall for several items, including a household staple many are using this summer
If you shop at Costco, you'll want to take a moment to check your recent purchases. The membership-only warehouse club has announced a sweeping recall of multiple products currently on shelves and in homes. Some of these items are common household staples, including air conditioners, which many people use to beat the summer heat. Several of the recalled products pose potential health or safety risks. That means if you own any of them, you should stop using them right away and follow the recommended next steps from the manufacturer or retailer. Below is a full breakdown of what's being recalled, why, and how to get help if you've bought one of these items. One of the biggest concerns in this recall is the Danby and Midea U-shaped window air conditioners. If you purchased a Danby U-shaped model between June 10, 2021, and February 2, 2022, or a Midea U-shaped model between June 2021 and May 2025, you're being urged to stop using it immediately. According to the recall notice, these units may not drain water properly, allowing it to pool inside. That can lead to mold growth, which can pose respiratory health risks to you and anyone else in your household. Mold exposure can trigger allergic reactions and worsen asthma or other lung conditions, making this a serious concern during hot, humid months when the units are running often. If you own one of these air conditioners, you have a few options. You can request a free repair kit that comes with a new drain plug and bubble level, or you can arrange for a technician to repair the unit for you. If you prefer not to keep it, Costco and the manufacturers are offering full or prorated refunds depending on when you bought your unit. Be sure to stop running the air conditioner until it's repaired or returned. For those who travel often or rely on portable chargers, check your bags and drawers for an Anker power bank purchased between June 1, 201,6, and December 31, 2022. Several Anker power banks sold at Costco have been recalled because they may overheat, posing a risk of fire. In some reported cases, the overheating has caused plastic components to melt, and in rare instances, smoke or fire has resulted. If you own one of these devices, stop using it right away. You can contact Anker customer service or visit their website for instructions on how to return the product and request a replacement or refund. If you've added a home gym setup recently, be aware that Costco has also recalled BowFlex 552 adjustable dumbbells. These popular weights have been reported to have a defect where the weight plates can dislodge from the handle during use. That poses an impact hazard, especially if you're lifting overhead or near your feet. Costco is offering instructions on how to return the dumbbells for repair or replacement. If you use these weights, stop immediately to avoid injury and contact BowFlex or Costco for next steps. Two tire models sold at Costco have also been recalled for failing to meet federal marking requirements. The affected models are Bridgestone Blizzak 6 tires and Michelin Agilis CrossClimate C-Metric tires. The Bridgestone tires do not have the proper DOT certification symbol on the sidewalls, which is required under U.S. safety standards. The Michelin tires have a separate issue where pieces of tread rubber can detach from the shoulder block. Both situations can compromise the safety and performance of your vehicle, especially in adverse driving conditions. If you purchased these tires from Costco, reach out to your local warehouse or the manufacturer to arrange for a replacement or a refund. In addition to the items above, Costco's recall also includes a range of other products that may be in your home or garage: 18-pack of Topo Chico Mineral Water Glass bottles: Specific batches have been pulled due to potential safety concerns. If you need a reliable alternative, try this reusable insulated water bottle to stay hydrated this summer. Igloo 90 Qt Flip & Tow Rolling Cooler: This cooler, which many use for summer picnics and camping, is affected by the recall. A good substitute is this Coleman Xtreme Wheeled Cooler that keeps drinks cold for days. Ninja Foodi Pressure Cooker + Air Fryer: Some units have been identified as having potential issues. As an alternative, consider the highly rated Instant Pot Duo Crisp Air Fryer for your kitchen. Kirkland Signature Severe Cold & Flu items: Certain batches of these over-the-counter medicines are included in the recall. To keep your medicine cabinet stocked, try this Vicks DayQuil and NyQuil Combo Pack for cold and flu relief. Sublue Underwater Scooter: Another recreational item being recalled for safety reasons. Fresh and Ready Foods Prepared Sandwiches and Salad: Select ready-to-eat food items have also been flagged. If you think you may have purchased any of the recalled items, here's what you should do: Check your receipts and product labels: Review purchase records or check product serial/model numbers against the recall information. If you're unsure, you can always call your local Costco for help verifying your item. Stop using the item immediately: This is especially important for items like the air conditioners, power banks, and dumbbells, which pose more immediate safety risks. Contact the manufacturer or Costco: Each product has a different process for repair, replacement, or refund. Visit Costco's website or call their customer service line to get specific instructions. Recalls are issued to protect you and your household from harm. Even if you haven't experienced any problems yet, continued use of a defective product could put you at risk. In the case of mold growth from air conditioners or a fire hazard from overheated power banks, delaying action could lead to health problems or property damage. Taking care of these recalls promptly also makes it easier to get the best remedy possible, whether that's a free repair, a full refund, or a replacement unit. Staying informed about product recalls is just one way to keep yourself safe. If you're planning a trip abroad, make sure to also check out the latest travel advisories that could affect your plans before booking your tickets. If you're hitting the road or planning outdoor activities this summer, keep in mind that some of these recalled items are things you might take with you. The Igloo cooler, Topo Chico water, electric scooters, and even portable power banks are all common travel and recreation staples. Double-check your gear before your next trip to ensure everything is safe and compliant. If you're traveling this summer, it's a good idea to double-check your gear for any recalled items before heading out. And if you're flying soon, you might also want to know how to tell if an air marshal is on your flight for added peace of mind while traveling. Costco is known for offering high-quality products and excellent customer service, and issuing recalls when needed is part of maintaining that standard. While no one likes to deal with a defective product, these recalls are meant to keep you safe and informed. Take a few minutes today to review the list of recalled items, check your home, and reach out to Costco or the appropriate manufacturer for help. Staying on top of recalls is an easy way to protect your health, safety, and peace of mind, especially as you enjoy the summer season. If you'd like more information about these recalls, you can visit Costco's recall page or call their customer service directly. They're ready to help walk you through the next steps for any affected item.

Costco Has Issued a Recall of Several Items That Could Be in Your Home
"Hearst Magazines and Yahoo may earn commission or revenue on some items through these links." If you bought a window air conditioner from Costco in the last few years, you might want to give it a good look. The membership-only retailer has just issued a recall on two different window air conditioners along with several other big ticket items that could prove to be a safety risk, and some of the recalled products should stop being used immediately. Costco recalled all Danby brand U-shaped air conditioners that were sold between June 10, 2021, and February 2, 2022, as well as Midea brand U-shaped window air conditioners sold between June 2021 and May 2025. The company has asked customers to discontinue use of these products "immediately" due to issues with water pooling underneath the units as they are not draining quickly enough. This presents a "risk of mold growth." Customers who wish to have the issue repaired can be sent a free repair kit from Costco which would include a new drain plug and bubble level, depending on the model. Customers can also reach out to Costco to get a full or prorated refund, based on the purchase date or the date of the unit's manufacture. There have been several other items recalled by Costco as well, including Anker power banks, which are used for portable charging. There is a potential risk factor with these power banks, which were sold between June 1, 2016 and Dec. 31, 2022, due to the possibility that they "may overheat, posing a potential fire safety risk," which "could lead to melting of plastic components, smoke or fire," per the recall. Anyone who has purchased one of these power banks can reach out for a refund or a replacement with a photo of the product showing the serial number on the back, model number, date the photo was taken, and the word "recalled" written on the power bank in permanent marker. Costco has also recalled Bridgestone Blizzak 6 tires and Michelin Agilis CrossClimate C-Metric tires. The Bridgetstone tires were sold as replacement tires only and "do not bear the DOT certification symbol on the tire sidewalls and therefore do not comply with tire marking requirements in Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard 139," per the recall, while the Michelin tires were recalled as "chunks of tread rubber may detach from the shoulder block." Other Costco items that have been recalled include the 18 packs of Topo Chico Mineral Water Glass, Igloo 90 Qt Flip & Tow Rolling Cooler, Ninja Foodi Pressure Cooker + Air Fryer, Segway Ninebot Electric Kickscooter and the Sublue Underwater Scooter. There were also select Kirkland Signature Severe Cold & Flu items added to the recall, as well as multiple products from Fresh and Ready Foods Prepared Sandwiches and Salads. Finally, Bowflex 552 adjustable dumbbells were recalled "due to reports that the weight plates can dislodge from the handle during use, posing an impact hazard." Costco Recalls Popular Items Over Safety Concerns, Urges Shoppers to Act Fast
Costco customers are being urged to check their homes after multiple recalls were announced this week for products sold at the retailer, ranging from workout equipment to window air conditioners. Newsweek reported that one of the most urgent notices involves Danby U-shaped window air conditioners purchased between June 10, 2021, and February 2, 2022. According to Midea America Corp., the supplier, the units have a design flaw that allows water to pool inside, creating a risk for mold growth. With summer in full swing, it's imperative to pay attention if you have one of these units. Exposure to mold can cause respiratory problems and infections. Costco is offering a full refund at any of its warehouses or a free repair kit, depending on the model. Affected units are labeled DAC080B6IWDB-6. Another recall targets the BowFlex 552 adjustable dumbbells. Manufacturer Johnson Health Tech Trading issued a voluntary recall after reports that the weight plates could unexpectedly fall off during use, posing a potential injury risk. Customers are advised to stop using the product and return it to Costco for a full refund. Anker also recalled several of its Model A1257 power banks over battery safety concerns. Though the company claims the risk is minimal, it is offering replacements to affected customers who provide proof of purchase. Finally, Michelin has recalled certain Agilis CrossClimate C-Metric tires in the 185/60R15C size. The tires reportedly failed to meet federal safety standards, increasing the chance of a crash. Specifically, the tread rubber may detach from the shoulder block. Customers who purchased these tires are being directed to their local Michelin retailer for free replacements. Each of these recalls highlights different hazards, ranging from mold exposure and fire risk to physical injury, underscoring the importance of taking prompt action.
