Danny Dyer's staggering earnings revealed after being 'so skint' when BBC offered him EastEnders role that he 'couldn't afford a lager'

Danny Dyer staggering earnings have been revealed after he raked in huge amounts from a string of hit shows over the last year. The actor, 47, recently admitted he was once 'so skint' he couldn't even afford to buy BBC execs a lager when they offered him a role on EastEnders in 2013. But thanks to his successes, accounts filed at Companies House have revealed that his firm, Arty Bucco, made £1.4million in the last financial year. The figures show Danny has made a huge £712,221 more than the previous year. In 2023, he quit his role as Mick Carter on the BBC soap EastEnders after nine years to try other things and the move appears to have paid off. Since then, he's leaned into his softer side and taken on a variety of different roles - including Jilly Cooper's Rivals and an emotional appearance on ITV 's new show The Assembly. Danny also reportedly bagged £100,000 for presenting television series The Wall. He recently revealed his children get driven to their swish private school in a Bentley, after his role in EastEnders and a series of top films saw his bank account swell. But it all could have been so different for national treasure Danny, who previously told the Jonathan Ross Show: 'I didn't have an audition, they rung me up, I had a touch. 'They said, "Listen we want you to come in the show, take over the Queen Vic" and at the time I was skint and I just had about enough petrol money to get there, that's the truth. 'They thought I was a multimillionaire and I met them in the hotel and I walked in absolutely skint, not a bean about me. I thought, I hope they don't ask me to get them a lager because I've got no dough. 'They sat me on a throne and said how great I was and how they wanted me to come in and take over the Vic and [I was] going to have a really big storyline about having a gay son.' Danny explained he made out it was no big deal, but secretly he was overjoyed by the career-saving offer. He said: 'I was like, "Wow, I want to do a cartwheel in front of them" but I thought, "Play it down, don't show your bolt too early." The actor added: 'I went, "I'll think about it" and then I walked out and I did a couple of backflips on the way out! I played it right down, I didn't want to look desperate and I was desperate.' Speaking about what he might have had to do if the role didn't come up, Danny said: 'I might have had to go and load skips Jon, I just couldn't catch a cold, I was doing nightclub appearances.' In 2023, the Marching Powder star put his past financial woes down to a run of 's*** films' including 2012's Run For Your Wife which made just £602 in its opening weekend. He told The Sun: 'I was on my a**e. I was f***ed. I had made too many bad films. I'd had my shot and made some good stuff. I had resorted to going to nightclubs and waving off balconies. 'That chips away at your soul that I'll tell ya. Where do you go from there?' His life now is worlds away from the dark pre-EastEnders days and Danny told ITV's new show The Assembly last month that his kids head to their private school in Chigwell in style. Each episode of the series sees a different celebrity face questions from a group of autistic, neurodivergent and learning disabled people, which will force them to cast aside their media training, with no topic off limits. And in last week's instalment, he said that because of his fame, his kids have never been on a bus and instead get driven 'door to door in a Bentley'. Danny, who hails from east London, has three children with his wife Joanne – Sunnie, 18, Arty, 11, and reality star Dani, 28, who won the fourth series of ITV dating show Love Island. He revealed in March that they were going to send his son to a private school in Chigwell.

Danny Dyer DOUBLES his millions in just three years after being left ‘skint' before career u-turn

DANNY Dyer has had a lot to be celebrating over 2025, with his business doubling in value within the space of a year. The TV favourite has amassed a £1.4million fortune at his private firm, Arty Bucco, across the last financial year – the most lucrative earnings of his career. 7 7 7 New accounts filed at Companies House reveal the star was sitting on over £1.5million in assets before bills, holding £896,857 in ready cash, £153,000 in investments and £483,182 worth of monies due in. Dyer's cash mountain is a staggering £712,221 up on the year before. It tops off an incredible year for the star, who took home his first ever Bafta for Sky comedy Mr Bigstuff, as well as seeing massive success with Disney+ series, Rivals. And it looks like it's only set to continue, with a new documentary series seeing him invest in a caravan park with daughter Dani for a new documentary series set to rival Clarkson's Farm. A second season of Rivals – a 'bonkbuster' based on the novels of Jilly Cooper – is currently being filmed in Bristol, and the second season of Mr Bigstuff was released last week. His success comes after he's made conscious moves to ditch his East End hard nut persona to show fans his softer side, causing a career u-turn, which has helped boost his bank balance. He also has a podcast, Live and Let Dyer, with Dani and wife Jo, and a new entertainment series with Rivals co-star Emily Atack was confirmed two days ago. Danny's riches include a £161,410 profit for 2025 - which works out at £3,104 per week, while his bills – reported at £155,804 – include £149,404 in taxation and social security. The figures were signed off by the former EastEnders star yesterday and span the year ended 31 January 2025, with the firm only employing two members of staff – thought to be Danny and his wife, Joanne Mas. Though their pay is not reported, the small print reveals that between them they owed the business £110,949 - £400,000 less than they did in 2024. Danny Dyer reveals he was 'off his nut' on drugs during 'f***ing dark' EastEnders filming and slams 's**t' soap scripts Dyer set up the business – whose activities are listed as 'motion picture, video and television production' back in 2015 alongside Joanne. Since then it has seen a strong and steady increase, earning his first £500,000 in 2020 before passing the £1million mark three years later. It's a major improvement on his former company Old Mother Media, which was set up in 2010 and went bust just three years later. At the time, a statement of affairs signed off by Dyer reported £29,170 worth of debt – including £24,827 owned to HM Revenue and Customs. 7 7 7 7

Forgotten Danny Dyer thriller critics called ‘nasty and exploitative' is streaming for free

A controversial thriller starring Danny Dyer that fans forgot has now found a free streaming home in the UK Danny Dyer's obscure thriller from the 2000s critics slammed for being 'nasty and exploitative' is currently streaming for free in the UK. ‌ Co-starring Sex Education's Gillian Anderson, this brutal revenge film pits the unlikely pairing against a group of violent men following a devastating attack. ‌ EastEnders legend Dyer portrays Adam, a young security technician who begins a whirlwind fling with glamorous businesswoman Alice Comfort (played by Anderson). ‌ After heading to a party together - where they enjoy a night of passion - they return home, only to hit a stag in Alice's car and experience a horrifying attack by a group of men. Months later, the pair are healed but traumatised and hatch a sadistic plan to get revenge. ‌ Titled Straightheads, this extremely shocking thriller is available for free on Channel 4 for anyone who thinks they can stomach it. Receiving mixed to negative reviews from critics, The Guardian went so far as to give it just one star, calling the film 'nasty and nonsensical' and 'a feature-length exercise in wrongness'. Empire was a little more generous with their two-star review, praising Anderson's 'engaging performance', adding it '[delves] into the sexual psychology of a traumatised odd-couple with interesting results'. ‌ They concluded: 'Anderson bares (almost) all in this flawed but fitfully fascinating thriller with a comical, if less compelling, turn from Danny Dyer.' While the Times penned: 'It has its thoughtful moments and is satisfying on a base level, but it's an exploitation flick at heart.' However, Straightheads does have its fair share of defenders, with a Letterboxd user claiming: 'There are still parts of the film that I don't think need to be there… ‌ 'But for the most part I think the film was fantastic and is one that I don't think many will want to watch again because of how effective it is while not showing too much. I give the film a 5/5.' Another thriller fan said: 'Brilliant, brutal, breathtaking ....great slice of grub pie a la Straw Dogs and Piggy.' And a final user wrote: 'Horrible topic but Gillian's emotional range here is incredible, she is such an insanely talented actor… still, a really hard movie to watch.' Will you be braving Straightheads this week or is this boundary-pushing video nasty getting a wide berth? Straightheads is available to stream on Channel 4.
