‘Suspicious' 17-year-old wielding loaded machine gun arrested in Danville
DANVILLE, Ill. (WCIA) — A 17-year-old was arrested Wednesday afternoon after officers saw them walking in the middle of the road with a loaded machine gun in Danville. According to Terry McCord, Deputy Chief with the Danville Police Department, on June 2 at approximately 4 p.m., officers witnessed the suspect acting 'suspicious' while walking illegally in the middle of the roadway. The juvenile was stopped and found to have a loaded machine gun. One hospitalized on I-57 in Shelby Co. semi-truck crash The 17-year-old was then arrested on the following charges in the area of Martin and Normal Streets: Aggravated unlawful use of a weapon Possessing a weapon under the age of 21 Unlawful use of a weapon-possession of a machine gun Obstructing a peace officer A member of the Danville Police Department Community Housing Unit, with help from the Problem-Oriented Policing Unit and Vermilion County Metropolitan, carried out the arrest. The suspect was then taken to the Vermilion County Juvenile Detention Center and held for a court hearing. Danville police searching for missing 9-year-old boy with autism
Danville police are searching for a 9-year-old boy with autism who disappeared Saturday evening. Alex Duarte, who is believed to be around Camino Tassajara and Blackhawk Drive, was last seen in the area around 6:30 p.m. Saturday, the Danville Police Department said Sunday morning. Alex, who is nonverbal, is Latino, stands 4 feet 11 inches, weighs about 70 pounds, and has black hair and brown eyes. He was last seen wearing gray shorts and a black T-shirt. Several agencies are aiding in the search, police said. Anyone with information on Alex's disappearance should contact Danville police at 925-646-2441 immediately.

Two teens arrested on weapons charges in Danville
DANVILLE, Ill. (WCIA) — A 17-year-old and an 18-year-old were arrested in Danville Wednesday night after police found guns in their possession, one of which was stolen. Around 6:30 p.m., Danville police officers were patrolling in the Holiday Hills area. Police said officers tried to 'make contact' with two people walking at the intersection of Westview and Holiday Drive, but they ran from the officers. After investigating, talking with witnesses, and using a Danville K9, the officers found two guns. One was defaced because the serial number was scratched off, and the other one was stolen, police said. Keys was taken to the Vermilion County Jail. He has been booked on charges of aggravated unlawful use of a weapon, being under the age of 21, possession of ammunition without a FOID card, and defacing identification marks on a firearm. Danville juvenile arrested on weapons charges
A 16-year-old Danville juvenile was arrested on multiple weapons charges by Danville Police recently. On Friday, May 23, members of the Danville Police Department Problem Oriented Policing Unit attempted to stop a subject on foot in the 1400 block of Lape Street for the investigation of a crime, DPD Deputy Chief Terry McCord said. Officers witnessed the suspect take off running after orders to stop were given. After a short foot pursuit, the suspect was placed in custody. During the pursuit and investigation, P.O.P. officers located a loaded illegal firearm. The suspect was identified as a 16-year-old juvenile from Danville who was transported to the Public Safety Building and booked on charges of Aggravated Unlawful Use of a Weapon-Possession Under 21, Aggravated Unlawful Use of a Weapon-No Concealed Carry Permit, and Obstructing/Resisting a Peace Officer. Danville man arrested for aggravated discharge of a firearm
DANVILLE, Ill. (WCIA) — A Danville man was arrested overnight after he was accused of shooting toward two people. Just after midnight, officers were dispatched to the 1500 block of E. Fairchild St. for the report of an armed person, the Danville Police Department said in a release Tuesday morning. Dispatch informed the officers that a man fired a shot toward the caller. Coroner ID's Forsyth couple found dead on Monday When officers arrived, they talked with two victims who described the man and said he fired a handgun toward them. Officers were able to locate the man in a residence within the area, who they identified as 28-year-old Melvin Alexander. They later recovered a firearm belonging to him. Alexander was arrested and taken to the Public Safety Building and then booked in the Vermilion County Jail on charges of Aggravated Discharge of a Firearm.
