JESSICA JONES Star Krysten Ritter Talks About Returning to the Role in DAREDEVIL: BORN AGAIN Season 2 and Having to Keep It a Secret — GeekTyrant
Krysten Ritter made her Marvel debut as Jessica Jones in the Netflix series that ran for three seasons before Disney+ took over the Marvel properties and the shows fizzled out. Now that Jones' co-Defender, Matt Murdock aka Daredevil, is back in action in the series Daredevil: Born Again , fans are finally getting what they've been asking for with Ritter's return in season 2. Ritter has been asked nonstop about whether she'd be seen in the new series for the last few years, and she had to play coy, but it turns out that she knew all along, and has had to keep it a secret. While promoting her latest project, the series Dexter: Resurrection , Ritter chatted about the situation on the Bingeworthy podcast for The Playlist. She reflected on the torturous time during which she had to hide the return of Jones: "Keeping it a secret has been torture. I'd known for almost two years, and it's a long time. A long time. It's either been talked about, in the works, or some state for a long time. 'So, keeping that secret and keeping the enthusiasm and waiting until the [Marvel] upfronts to announce it, it was like, when it was finally out, I was like, 'Oh my God!' 'I'm always pretending I'm not in New York… I was like, 'If it gets out, it's not because of me, because I have kept the secret!' It's just really special and exciting. And the team is amazing, and I feel grateful." Ritter also talked about what it felt like to revive the fan-favorite private investigator, saying: "It felt crazy — like no time had passed. It felt celebratory; everybody was so excited. This is all due to fan demand. I really believe I'm back because the fans have been so vocal about Jessica and feeling so passionate about her. 'And I am so thrilled to be back in these iconic boots. This is a character that I love and means so much to me, and means so much to so many women and men. And the fact that she gets to come back in this huge way is a thrill. And it's a really great team." As for what the future holds for Jones in the MCU, nothing has been confirmed, but Ritter said, hopefully: "I think there are many opportunities for Jessica. I think that she's a great way in. I think that she brings her own flavor and her own style. And I think that you could probably find her anywhere, but I do love the grounded street element. 'And what I've always loved about Jessica is how deeply personal it is. I think there's just so much to this character. She's so dynamic that it's exciting to officially be in the MCU and be brought back in this big way. 'It's amazing and wild; it's really so rare that something like this happens. So, I'm thrilled that Marvel's been so amazing and that the fans brought her back. I'm just over the moon about it." Daredevil: Born Again season 2 is set to hit Disney+ in March 2026. via: Movieweb

Krysten Ritter Officially Returning as Jessica Jones for ‘Daredevil: Born Again' Season 2
Krysten Ritter is officially back as hard-fighting, hard-drinking Marvel hero Jessica Jones. The announcement was made during Disney's upfront presentation to advertisers in New York on Tuesday. Ritter took the stage with Charlie Cox, star of 'Daredevil Born Again,' to reveal that she would be joining that show for its second season. 'I'm so excited to bring back this iconic character, and without giving too much away, there is much more in store for Jessica Jones. This is going to be an incredible season!' Ritter first played Jones in the self-titled Netflix series that debuted in 2015. 'Jessica Jones' was one of five Marvel shows to air on Netflix, along with 'Daredevil,' 'Luke Cage,' 'Iron First,' 'The Punisher,' and the crossover series 'The Defenders.' 'Jessica Jones' ultimately aired for three seasons, with its final Netflix season airing in 2019. It was canceled, along with all the other Marvel-Netflix shows, when Disney initiated plans to air Marvel Cinematic Universe shows on Disney+. Ritter received widespread praise for her portrayal of the character, who has super strength and the ability to fly. After a brief but failed stint as a superhero, Jones began working as a private investigator in New York. As Variety reported at the time, part of the Netflix-Marvel deal included a provision which prevented the characters featured in the shows from appearing in any non-Netflix series or film for at least two years after cancellation. Disney has already begun bringing the characters back, with 'Daredevil: Born Again' starring Cox and Vincent D'Onofrio debuting on Disney+ in March 2025. Jon Bernthal also returned in that show as Frank Castle, a.k.a The Punisher, with Season 2 of 'Born Again' already in the works. Krysten Ritter Comments on Returning as Jessica Jones in DAREDEVIL: BORN AGAIN and There's "Much More in Store" — GeekTyrant
Yesterday, news broke that Krysten Ritter is officially returning as Jessica Jones in Daredevil: Born Again Season 2. Ritter has since commented on the big announcement, saying: "It's so great to be back, returning to Jessica after three seasons and The Defenders and now joining the MCU. I'm so excited to bring back this iconic character, and without giving too much away, there is much more in store for Jessica Jones. This is going to be an incredible season!" I love that Ritter is joining the fold, and now we have two Defenders down, with two to go… Mike Colter's Luke Cage and Finn Jones' Iron Fist, but I could do with out Jones' version of Iron Fist. Who know if those characters will even return. I hope that Ritter's involvement in the next season will involve a decent sized and meaningful story arc, maybe something that leads to a Jessica Jones Marvel Special Presentation, like Jon Bernthal got for The Piunisher. The character is just a interesting, unique and one of the more complex and compelling heroes Marvel TV ever gave us, and she deserves the spotlight. As Daredevil: Born Again Season 2 gears up for its March 2026 premiere, we'll be watching closely for more news. Source: Variety
