BJP neta: Cong still hasn't apologized
Mumbai: The till date has not apologised for the Emergency, said politician . Elan Valley Dark Sky Park to celebrate 10th anniversary
A special event celebrating the tenth anniversary of the Elan Valley International Dark Sky Park is set to take place in Powys. The event will be held on June 29 at the Elan Valley Visitor Centre from 10.30am to 3.30pm. Visitors can expect themed talks, an astrophotography exhibition, and children's activities. Young space enthusiasts can join free, interactive sessions to handle real space rocks and learn about meteorites at 10.30am, 12pm, and 2pm. Throughout the day, various astro-themed talks will be held. At 10.30am, Matt Gadfield from the Elan Valley Dark Sky team will recount the history of the park. At noon, Leigh Harling-Bowen will discuss creating England and Wales' first Dark Sky Community. Dr Henry Scofield will explore the world of bats at 1.30pm, followed by Rob Davies at 2pm, who will introduce attendees to the hobby of astronomy. Attendees can also expect to see live telescope equipment with the First Light Optics team and meet members of the Newtown Astronomy Society. The Cambrian Mountains' dark sky-themed produce will also be available to buy or order. The Elan Valley was designated an International Dark Sky Park in 2015 by DarkSky International. This designation was in recognition of the park's efforts to preserve and promote one of the UK's darkest nightscapes. The anniversary celebration is designed to offer a unique opportunity for visitors of all ages to immerse themselves in the world of astronomy, engage with expert speakers, and appreciate the importance of dark sky conservation.

Kris Alive Music Fest to benefit local musician
SUMMIT STATION — Local musician Kris Guitas has dedicated much of his time, energy and resources into performing at events for charitable causes. Now, it's time for the community to repay him. Guitas, 50, of Cressona, was involved in a devastating car accident in early March that left him severely injured. While driving to work one morning on Route 183, he was momentarily blinded by the sun, and he got into a three-car crash. While Guitas has come a long way and is now receiving outpatient rehabilitation treatment, he's currently unable to work and will need assistance with medical costs, according to his good friend, Ed Burke. Thankfully, a coalition of local musicians have joined together to give their friend a boost. The Kris Alive Music Fest, scheduled for June 29, is a benefit event at the Southside Grill intended to help Guitas through his recovery. Slated for noon to 10 p.m., it will feature 10 local musical acts, including Gleasons Drift, the Zenith, the Boys Upstairs, and Eric and Michelle from the rock band Sapphire. As its lead singer and rhythm guitarist, he and his bandmates would often perform at events for worthy causes, such as benefits for fire victims, according to Burke. Burke, a local drummer, has known Guitas for a long time through their involvement in the local musical circuit, and he has always admired Guitas' generous efforts for the community. In light of the accident, he and Guitas' best friend, Mike Gustitus, brainstormed ways to support their friend. That's how the two came up with the idea of Kris Alive. Inspired by the album 'Alive' by Kiss, one of Guitas' favorite bands, the name of the event bespeaks Guitas' powerful will to live and to move forward, as forcefully as the invigorating energy of Kiss' best music. After running it by their local musical friends and connections, the two co-organizers were heartened by the number of people interested in performing for the event. Burke said D.G. Yuengling & Son has sponsored banners, posters and promotional items for the event. Each band will perform an approximately 40-minute set at the Southside Grill. While the event is free, attendees are welcome to donate to the cause throughout the day. Those who make donations of a certain amount will be eligible for a cooler giveaway from Yuengling, Burke said. Given the all-star lineup and the positive response from the community, Burke is 'pretty confident' Kris Alive will be a success. 'Wish it wouldn't have happened to him, but it's nice to see the response and all the people who wanted to jump in,' Burke said. 'The support has been overwhelming.' A Portland Boathouse Is Reopening As a Kid-Friendly Destination for Fish Sandwiches
A year-round indoor and outdoor restaurant on Hayden Island is set to open in less than a month. Pal's will open in early July with all day, seven days a week service. Donald Kenney, raised in Oregon and one of the partners behind the project, is one of the minds behind the buildout and the menu. Hayden Island sits in the Columbia River as a natural divider between Washington and Oregon states. In the mornings from 7 to 11 a.m. it'll be coffee and pastries, with grab-and-go items meant to provide what a grocery store might. Then a lunch and dinner-focused menu will be on throughout the afternoon until 10 p.m. This will be the only upscale outdoor restaurant on the island of about 4,000 people, including the houseboat residents. That menu is seafood-forward as can be. There'll be Oregon albacore tuna salad, oversized fish sandwiches with the goods spilling out the side, and Oregon's own Bay shrimp on a local rendition of a lobster roll. The fish comes breaded in Panko and dusted in kettle chips, shoved between those comically tiny buns. Dungeness crab should make an appearance when it's in season. There's soft serve on deck, too. Fellow business partner and cocktail wiz Sean Ford is behind the no-joke drinks program. He's got his own cocktail syrups company, was the Teardrop general manager, and is part-owner of various bars. He's rolling out classics including the Dark and Stormy alongside more inventive beverages like a Banoffee Bahama Mama riff served with Hamilton dark rum, banana liqueur, a shot of soft serve, and a spoon. For his part, Kenney helped open the lakeside resort the Suttle Lake Lodge & Boathouse in Sisters back in 2015. The resort and restaurant sits by the 380-acre Suttle Lake in the Deschutes National Forest. The idea was to bring an egalitarian and approachable food option that kids would remember stopping at once they're older. Much of that same energy is brought to Pal's by Kenney and his team. The vibe is going for somewhere between the original Dairy Queen's and Maine's classic Bagaduce Lunch. He's got the opportunity thanks to a friend who owns the Pal's space asked him if he'd be able to run that Suttle Lodge playbook on Hayden Island. The space is a some 40-year-old leasing office in the marina. The building and grounds are getting a facelift into a big lawn with space for kids and families to sit and enjoy the food. Kenney got this idea from his experiences working in Austin, Texas where he says it's much more common for wide open private spaces that are attached to a restaurant. Pistils Nursery is helping design the buildout and provide plant life. The hope is for families to come here again and again, to spend warm days down by the water eating soft serve late into the night.'I see the kids running around throwing food for the geese to eat,' Kenney says, 'and people pulling their boats up for a bite to eat.'
