T-Mobile announces free new perk for customers after major loss

T-Mobile (TMUS) is boosting its efforts to win back customers, after a series of price increases prompted many to cut ties during the first few months of the year. T-Mobile's first-quarter earnings report for 2025 revealed that the company's postpaid phone churn, the number of customers who cut their phone service, increased by 5 basis points year-over-year during the quarter. Don't miss the move: Subscribe to TheStreet's free daily newsletter Also, while T-Mobile attracted 495,000 new postpaid phone customers during the quarter, that number is 6% lower than the amount it gained during the same time period in 2024. Related: T-Mobile announces bold offer to win back frustrated customers The loss of customers comes after T-Mobile increased prices for some of its older phone plans last year. In April, it once again hiked the monthly rate for select legacy phone plans by $5. That same month, it also decided to increase its Regulatory Programs & Telco Recovery Fee from $3.49 to $3.99 for voice lines and $1.40 to $1.60 for data-only lines. In response to these changes, some customers expressed outrage on social media, with some even threatening to switch phone providers. During an earnings call in April, T-Mobile CEO Mike Sievert said that customers have "a lot of acceptance" of recent price increases and that the elevated loss of customers was due to "a number of dynamics," such as concerns about the economy and increased competition. "You know, I think there's a certain element out there where people are in a time of uncertainty about the future, grabbing what they can afford now," said Sievert during the call. "And so, you're seeing kind of some amount of probably move forward of upgrades and switching." The phone carrier has announced that starting July 8, T-Mobile customers will get a free DoorDash subscription (DashPass), which offers free delivery, reduced service fees, exclusive offers on eligible orders and rideshare partner discounts. A DashPass subscription usually costs $10 per month or $120 annually. Related: Verizon pulls the plug on a convenient service for customers Customers can claim this free perk in the T-Mobile Tuesdays section of the T-Life app through Aug. 4. The offer will return next year. In addition to touting the free DashPass subscription, T-Mobile revealed that its highly anticipated T-Satellite service launches on July 23. It also unveiled a new Easy Upgrade offer to attract customers from rival companies. "You can choose to get your phone paid off (up to $800) and get a new iPhone Pro on us without a trade OR bring the whole family and T-Mobile will help you pay off four phones and get four iPhone 16s on Us - all for $100/month," said T-Mobile in a press release. These offers from T-Mobile follow its launch of three new low-priced prepaid plans on June 24, each with a five-year price lock guarantee. T-Mobile's increased efforts to win back customers come as it faces increased competition from Verizon and AT&T and, surprisingly, cable companies, which have also recently attracted price-conscious phone customers. According to a recent report from MoffettNathanson, Spectrum, Comcast, and Altice USA have added 886,000 new phone customers during the first three months of 2025, which is up from the 804,000 they added during the same time period last year. T-Mobile Reveals It's Named ‘Best Network In America' By Ookla

Ookla Speedtest has just named T-Mobile the best mobile network in America, in what it claims is one of the biggest network tests of its kind. Is this true and what does it mean? T-Mobile named best network by Ookla One thing that seems certain is that T-Mobile likes the prefix 'un'. 'An underdog story 12 years in the making, the Un-carrier becomes the undisputed industry leader,' it said in its new press release. 'Backed by half a billion real world tests on millions of devices, the results reflect how people actually use their phones for things like video streaming, web browsing and more. By measuring both speed and experience, Ookla confirmed T-Mobile's position at the top, surpassing both AT&T and Verizon,' T-Mobile claimed. Ookla is a respected brand, and specifically referred to six months of analysis 'that included more than 570 million test points and 6 million different devices,' T-Mobile's president of technology, Ulf Ewaldsson told Fierce Network. In recent years, Verizon has held this title, and it's a pretty simple one, best network, rather than most widely available or fastest downloads or whatever. As such, it's worth taking notice of. Such an honor comes at a good time for the brand, which also announced a commercial launch date for its satellite connectivity service, T-Satellite which works on iPhone and Android handsets like the Samsung Galaxy S25. This service runs in conjunction with Starlink (though it doesn't install Starlink on your phone). This will go live on July 23 nationwide, 'extending coverage into more than 500,000 square miles of U.S. territory that traditional cell towers can't reach,' T-Mobile said. It said that the beta program has been trialed by almost 1.8 million users, with tens of thousands of those taking part being customers of Verizon and AT&T. The company's rise to success is partly thanks to the way it has combined its low-band spectrum with the mid-band range from Sprint. Some networks focused on the mmWave spectrum, which offers outstanding speeds but has problems beating some obstacles. Ewaldsson told Cnet that the company went in a different direction. 'We said, 'it's going to be a mid-band play, and it's going to be TDD [Time Division Duplex, a way to send and receive data in the same frequency] spectrum in the mid-band that you pair with a very strong low band.' We were able to get our hands on the best possible spectrum, thanks to merging with Sprint,' Ewaldsson said. The company also introduced new perks for its customers, such as DashPass, which offers DoorDash with no delivery fees and reduced service fees.

T-Mobile is handing out a major freebie, and it could save you hundreds a year

T-Mobile is adding another perk for its users, this time through a new partnership with DoorDash. Starting July 8, eligible T-Mobile customers will be able to get a free DashPass subscription, which usually costs $10 per month or $120 per year. The benefit will be available through the T-Life app and includes the standard DashPass features. That means no delivery fees on eligible orders and reduced service fees. For people who order delivery often, this could lead to noticeable savings over time. The announcement came during T-Mobile 's recent livestream event called "Trade-offs Left The Chat," where the company also discussed its expanding T-Satellite coverage. CEO Mike Sievert said customers who use DoorDash regularly could save between $600 and $700 a year through this deal. This offer isn't just for new or premium plan holders. T-Mobile says the DashPass perk will apply to users on "all popular plans," including older ones like Magenta and ONE. It's not clear yet if customers on even older plans like Simple Choice will be eligible, but if you currently have access to T-Mobile Tuesdays, there's a good chance you'll get this benefit too. To claim the free DashPass, customers will need to go through the T-Life app starting July 8. Once the offer is live, users can activate it and link it to their DoorDash account. One detail that hasn't been confirmed is whether the subscription will include access to HBO Max, which sometimes comes bundled with an annual DashPass membership. T-Mobile has not commented on that, and it's unlikely to be included unless a separate agreement is made. Most of these kinds of perks tend to offer the basic version of a service. Still, this is a solid addition to T-Mobile 's lineup of benefits. It could be especially useful for people who order food or groceries often. As delivery and service fees continue to rise, cutting those extra costs can help. If you're a T-Mobile customer, it's worth setting a reminder to go ahead and check the T-Life app on or after July 8 to see if you're eligible. You just might be. DoorDash launches family sharing option

You can find original article here Supermarketnews. Subscribe to our free daily Supermarketnews newsletter. DoorDash has launched a new 'family sharing' option, allowing users to share membership benefits with another person for no extra cost. Users who opt into the new 'DashPass Family Sharing,' launched Monday, only share benefits, not their accounts, with each person keeping their own DoorDash account, payment methods, order history, and delivery preferences separate. The move mirrors that of Instacart, which launched its own Family Carts benefit feature in 2022. Instacart's 'family' feature allows three additional users to be added to an account. Additionally, DoorDash has rolled out more foodservice deals as part of its ongoing annual Summer of DashPass event, now in its sixth year, which runs June 26 through July 30. The member-exclusive discounts include up to 25-50% off on meals, groceries, electronics, summer essentials, and other items, including local deals at over 120,000 small and medium-sized businesses. Foodservice deals throughout the summer include partnerships with Chipotle (free select entree on orders $25-plus); McDonald's (free 10 piece McNugget Meal or Big Mac Meal on orders $20-plus); Starbucks (spend $25 get $10); and Taco Bell (free crispy chicken burrito with orders $20-plus); among others. Retailer deals include Wawa and CVS (35% off orders $25-plus); as well as $5 off two Ben & Jerry's pints on grocery and convenience orders on July 20 for National Ice Cream Day. 'As the value of DashPass continues to grow with exclusive savings across restaurants, grocery, retail and more, DashPass is the best way to save on all things locally,' said Ryan Parietti, DoorDash VP & GM and head of marketplace. In recent months, DoorDash has expanded its robot delivery pilot to both Chicago and Los Angeles. The service is available for grocery and convenience orders in those cities. The company also said it also plans to integrate drones into its delivery platform through its partnership with Wing, a drone delivery company owned by Google's parent company Alphabet. ** Join us at Grocery NEXT, September 10-12 at the Westin Chicago Northwest in Itasca, Ill., where industry leaders will explore the future of grocery technology, AI, automation and evolving consumer trends. T-Mobile named best network in the US, celebrates with new perk

Joe Maring / Android Authority TL;DR T-Mobile is now rated the best network in the US, and in order to celebrate, it is offering a free year of DoorDash DashPass to customers starting July 8 via the T-Life app, saving you $120. The offer is available to most T-Mobile plans, including Experience, Go5G, Magenta, and T-Mobile One. You have until August 4 to redeem the offer, though T-Mobile says the perk will be offered again next year as well. Today, T-Mobile hosted a major live stream event to celebrate the latest Ookla report, which declares the Uncarrier as the best network in the US. The claim is backed by half a billion real-world tests on millions of devices, though, as always, actual performance can vary depending on your city or region. More importantly, alongside the not-so-humble brag, T-Mobile is also introducing a new perk to mark the occasion. Starting July 8, you'll be able to snag a year's subscription to DoorDash DashPass via the T-Life app. For those who've never used it, the subscription service gives you steep discounts on DoorDash delivery fees, special promotions, and more. This service normally runs $10 a month, which means a savings of $120 a year. While the promotion is technically a one-off perk that won't be available after August 4, T-Mobile clarified that it intends to offer this promotion again next year as well. So, what plan do you need to get DashPass for free? Although T-Mobile hasn't spelled out every qualifying plan, it did mention that all its current plans, Go5G plans, Magenta, and even T-Mobile One plans should be covered. In other words, most prepaid plans will get in on the action. It's also possible this could be extended to certain prepaid plans that have T-Mobile Tuesday service, but that's just speculation at this stage. I've reached out to T-Mobile and will update if and when I learn more. Got a tip? Talk to us! Email our staff at Email our staff at news@ .
