Rockwall and Rockwall-Heath both made it into the top 50 teams in the Class 6A state rankings as compiled by Dave Campbell's Texas Football Magazine. The 65th summer edition of the magazine has been released and as usual it features extensive coverage of Texas college and high school football. Southlake Carroll, which returns 10 starters on offense and nine on defense, earned the No. 1 preseason ranking. The Dragons went 15-1 last season. North Crowley, a 16-0 state champion in 2024, is ranked No. 2 though returning only two starters on offense. Duncanville, 13-1 in 2024, is ranked third, followed by perennial powers Austin Westlake and Galena Park North Shore. Those two teams won both 14 games last season. The magazine picked Longview to repeat as the District 10-6A champions, followed by Rockwall, North Forney, Heath, Forney, Tyler Legacy and Royse City. The magazine picked Forney running back Javian Osborne, who rushed for 1,239 yards and 22 touchdowns last season, as the preseason Offensive Most Valuable Player for District 10-6A and Longview defensive lineman Krystin Williams as the Defensive MVP. Osborne also earned second-team honors on the magazine's Super Team on offense. Rockwall wide receiver-defensive back Jack Duckworth made the magazine's top 10 list of athletes who are college prospects. Legend Bey of North Forney also made the top 10 list. Advertisement Duckworth caught 34 passes for 472 yards and five touchdowns last season for the Yellowjackets and returned 13 kickoffs for 245 yards with a long return of 60 yards. He also intercepted a pass on defense. The magazine also picks an FBS Power Poll of the top college football teams. Texas, whose head coach Steve Sarkisan is on the cover, was ranked No. 1 followed by Texas Tech, Texas A&M, SMU, Baylor, TCU, Houston, UT-San Antonio, North Texas and the Texas State Bobcats.
