Teens' beach day deflated by fines after floatie-triggered traffic stop
A vehicle is pulled over on Balm Beach Road in Tiny Township for an insecure load on Mon., July 14, 2025.
Provincial police remind beach-goers to wait until they arrive before inflating their floatie or risk being deflated with a ticket.
A group of teenagers from Brampton learned this hard way as they headed to Balm Beach in Tiny Township Monday evening with an unconventional passenger in the form of a giant inflatable floatie.
A Southern Georgian Bay OPP officer pulled over a vehicle on Balm Beach Road after noticing the large blown-up, two-seat tube balancing on the top of the vehicle and being held in place by a passenger.
"Having your non-seat belted passenger hold onto your beach toy just might end your joy," wrote OPP Const. Dave Hobson on the social media post regarding the incident.
The driver was hit with a ticket for having an insecure load, while the floatie-holding passenger was handed a ticket for being unbuckled.
The group had to deflate the oversized beach toy and stow it away in its box before they could continue on with their day.
