Amazon Introduces New Colorsoft E-Reader That Costs Less
When Amazon released its first color e-reader, the Kindle Colorsoft Signature Edition, last November, some people balked at its $280 price. We've seen it dip to $225 during Prime Day sales events, but Amazon has now released a new lower-priced $250 Colorsoft model with less storage as well as the "first-ever Kindle in color for kids." The two new models are in fact the same device but the Kindle Colorsoft Kids ($270) includes one year of Amazon Kids+, a two-year "worry-free" guarantee (Amazon will replace it if it's damaged, no questions asked) and a "kid-friendly" cover. While the Kindle Colorsoft Signature Edition is equipped with 32GB of storage and features wireless charging and an auto-adjusting front light and wireless charging, both new models are equipped with 16GB and leave off the auto-adjusting lighting and wireless-charging features. The new models have the same adjustable warm light as the Signature Edition but you have to adjust it manually (it doesn't auto adjust based on your environmental lighting conditions). Read more: Best e-readers of 2025 The Kindle Colorsoft Kids is available for $270 with two cover options, including the Fantasy cover shown here and a Starlight cover. Screenshot by David Carnoy/CNET I gave high marks to the Kindle Colorsoft Signature Edition in my review and preferred it to the latest Kindle Paperwhite, which was released at around the same time as the Colorsoft. However, I did say that the "new, improved Kindle Paperwhite or entry-level Kindle are better options for most folks" due to the Colorsoft's high price. Not long after it launched, Amazon had to pause shipments of the Colorsoft after some early users reported having an issue with yellow tinging at the bottom of the Colorsoft's display. When it resumed shipping the device, Amazon noted on the Colorsoft's product page that a small number of customers had reported a yellow band along the bottom of the display and asked any customers who noticed this to reach out to Amazon's customer service team for a replacement or refund. Amazon said that it had had made "the appropriate adjustments to ensure that new devices will not experience this issue moving forward." Watch this: Kindle Colorsoft Review: Amazon's New Luxury E-Reader 07:48 However, several users posted negative reviews of the Colorsoft, making it Amazon's worst-rated Kindle e-reader (by its users). These are the hazards of releasing a premium product that doesn't quite live up to people's expectations, especially for those who might be expecting a similar color experience to that of a tablet with a color LCD, not a color E Ink display, which looks a little washed out by comparison. Also, it's worth noting that the resolution is cut in half for color elements on the Colorsoft. The color resolution is only 150 pixels per inch for color, while it's 300 ppi for black and white. 150 ppi lacks some crispness, but it's still nice to see e-book covers in color, and having color brings comic books, graphic novels and images more to life. Some people will appreciate that you can also highlight text in different colors like you would with real-world highlighter pens.

Walmart Deals of the Day: Score Sonos' Premium Ace Headphones for a Record Low $299
There's typically a lull in major sales around this time of year, but with a little digging, you can still score some serious savings. That's our specialty here on CNET's shopping team, so we're rounding up the best bargains you can shop every day at Walmart. For today, July 21, those include a significant $150 discount on Sonos' top-rated Ace headphones, a convenient Keurig iced coffee brewer that you can pick up for less than $60 and an unreal Galaxy Watch 7 deal that's only available in certain locations. We've also found the best deals you can shop today at Amazon as well. Sonos Ace: $299 (save $150) See at Walmart Sonos makes some of the absolute best speakers and soundbars on the market right now, so it's no surprise that its Sonos Ace headphones have also earned a spot on our list of the overall best headphones for 2025. These premium over-ears impressed CNET audio aficionado David Carnoy with their comfortable design and top-of-the-line sound and noise-canceling capabilities, though Carnoy found the $449 price tag a little too high to justify. But they're a great bargain now that you can grab them at a record-low price, which makes them an excellent and more affordable alternative to the AirPods Max. Galaxy Watch 7: $200 (save $150) See at Walmart The Galaxy Watch 8 hits shelves soon, but for the time being the Galaxy Watch 7 is still one of the best smartwatches on the market. And it's a steal now that you can pick it up for a record-low $200 -- half the price of the Apple Watch Series 10. It impressed our reviewer with its vibrant 2,000-nit display, helpful Quick button and impressive fitness features. Just note that select functions like the ECG and sleep apnea monitor require a Galaxy phone. At the moment, only the 44mm silver configuration is on sale at this price, and availability may vary by location. If you are looking to take advantage of this deal, we'd recommend getting your order in fast. Keurig K-Iced Essentials: $59 (save $20) See at Walmart With warm summer weather in full swing, a refreshing iced coffee is the perfect way to start your day. And with this single-serve Keurig brewer, you can make it at home in minutes. It has a special "brew over ice setting" that starts hot to help extract flavor and then cools down so it won't melt the ice and water down your drink. It has multiple cup size settings, and this deal also comes with a 12-ounce tumbler so you can take your coffee on the go. Plus, it's just 6.5 inches wide to help you conserve counter space.

The Soundcore by Anker P40i buds feature adaptive active noise cancellation to detect ambient noise in your surroundings and block it out, so that you can enjoy your music or podcasts undisturbed. The earbuds have a 12-hour battery life, but that's expanded to 60 hours with the included charging case. They offer a more bass-heavy sound with Anker's BassUp technology. Hey, did you know? CNET Deals texts are free, easy and save you money. CNET writer David Carnoy tested these buds for our best cheap earbuds roundup and praised the Soundcore P40I's multipoint Bluetooth connectivity and "respectable voice-calling capabilities." He also noted that the charging case that comes with these earbuds can be used as a smartphone stand, which is a fun added feature. We recommend that you take advantage of this deal quickly, as Amazon discounts fluctuate. If you want to shop around, we have a list of the best deals on wireless earbuds for phone calls, best cheap wireless earbuds and best noise-canceling earbuds. Why this deal matters We saw these earbuds drop down to one of their lowest prices ever, $45, during Amazon's big Prime Day event in July of 2024. Given that the current sale price is just $3 more for a highly desirable, affordable pair of earbuds, there's no time like the present to buy a pair. There's no telling when this limited time discount will end or when it'll come back so if you're interested you should probably act on it.

These Stylish Bluetooth Headphones With Unbelievable Battery Life Are Still a Steal After Prime Day
Discount available: Marshall's Major V headphones are worth it even at full price, but right now they're down to $111 -- or around 31% off -- on Amazon, which is still a great deal. I might not be a true battle-tested headphone expert like CNET's David Carnoy, but I still love headphones and I'm confident in what I like about them. My most recent pickup, the Marshall Major V on-ear Bluetooth headphones, quickly became a pair that I adore. What is Marshall? Marshall is a British audio hardware company that got its start back in the early '60s and became renowned for producing amps and speakers for live music performances. More recently, it's made a mark in consumer audio, producing home speakers with a distinctly rock 'n' roll aesthetic -- think rough-patterned black leather materials, gold trim and prominent physical buttons. Hey, did you know? CNET Deals texts are free, easy and save you money. The brand has also brought its signature sound and style to headphones. Recently, I picked up the Major V, Marshall's latest iteration of its on-ear Bluetooth model (that's V as in 5), and I could hardly love them more. Marshall boasts that these headphones can last up to 100 hours on one charge, an almost ludicrous number that has largely held up as I've used them. The audio quality, while not a patch on the heavier hitters in the Bluetooth market, is excellent for its price, with strong bass and clean high notes. Vocals can sometimes come off a little shabby at first blush, but I find you get used to it real quick. The connectivity performance has also really impressed me. For such a cheap pair of headphones, the Major V easily maintain connections to at least two devices at a time and can switch between them almost seamlessly. That's not something I've found to be the case for a lot of the affordable Bluetooth headphones I've tried in the past. It's a strong contender overall in the budget Bluetooth headphones space. Why does this deal matter? I was able to scoop up the Marshall Major V for $100, the lowest their price has gone since they debuted last year. For that price, it's basically a steal, and I'd say the same for its current price of $111. For the amount of blissful use I've gotten out of them so far -- listening to music, watching movies or getting through my audiobooks -- it's been more than worth the price of admission. For now, only the standard black Major Vs are on sale. They also come in brown, cream and midnight blue varieties, but those will cost you closer to full retail price for now. They usually retail for around $160, making their current price a 38% discount.

This Portable Streaming TV Turns My Patio Into an Entertainment Oasis
Back in the day -- we're talking 40 years ago -- portable TVs were a big thing. That's when people would tune into over-the-air signals with a Sony Watchman and watch whatever local TV stations were broadcasting. But with smartphones, tablets and laptops now able to stream content wirelessly, including live TV from apps like YouTube TV and many other services, a portable TV seems like something of a novelty. And to a certain degree, that's just what Skyworth's battery-powered 24-inch P100 Companion Series portable TV is. At a typical list price of $400, it isn't exactly cheap, but it's also the largest portable TV I've ever used, and it's turned my patio into an entertainment oasis. Read more: Best TVs of 2025 There are a few key things to highlight about the 1,080-pixel Skyworth portable TV. First, it's Wi-Fi enabled and is equipped with Google TV, so it's a streaming device. It's also got Chromecast built-in, so you can cast to it from an Android phone (I was able to cast the Spectrum TV app to it from my iPhone 16 Pro but had to fiddle around with the settings in my Google Home app to get it to work). Finally, it has an integrated battery that delivers up to 3 hours of battery life in energy-saving mode (the battery life seemed closer to 2 hours in my tests). You can also plug the TV in -- that's what you have to do to charge it -- just like a normal TV. Hey, did you know? CNET Deals texts are free, easy and save you money. David Carnoy/CNET Skyworth 24P100 portable TV specs Here are the details about this battery-powered TV. Size: 24-inch LED TV with matte screen to reduce glare 24-inch LED TV with matte screen to reduce glare Resolution: 1,920x1,080 (1,080p) 1,920x1,080 (1,080p) Refresh rate: 60Hz 60Hz Sound: Built-in mini soundbar (two 6W speakers) Built-in mini soundbar (two 6W speakers) OS: Google TV (supports Google Chromecast) Google TV (supports Google Chromecast) Wireless: Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 5.0 Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 5.0 Weight: 9.04 pounds (4.1 kg) 9.04 pounds (4.1 kg) Dimensions: 21.59x14.41x2.91 inches 21.59x14.41x2.91 inches Battery Life: Up to 3 hours (expect closer to 2 hours, however) Up to 3 hours (expect closer to 2 hours, however) Included: Remote and two AAA batteries, power adapter (12 volts, 5 amps) and faux-leather handle Remote and two AAA batteries, power adapter (12 volts, 5 amps) and faux-leather handle Connectivity: 1 HDMI, USB-A, LAN, 3.5mm aux-in and digital audio out ports This Skyworth TV is technically a 1080p LED TV with HDR10, but when you first see the user interface, the channel icons don't seem all that sharp. However, when you start streaming, the picture does appear to be 1080p. You just aren't going to get inky blacks. But it is a matte screen that cuts down on the glare and has a relatively wide viewing angle. The TV is designed to be taken outdoors, though it has no water resistance rating, so you wouldn't want to leave it out in the rain. (Sylvox makes a 15.6-inch portable TV that's apparently waterproof, but it's considerably smaller than this TV). There's a mini soundbar in the base -- Skyworth says the TV is equipped with Dolby Audio -- that can play pretty loud, but the dynamic range is a little narrow. That's a polite way of saying there isn't a whole lot of bass. But again, for casual viewing, it does the job and you could connect a better speaker to it if you wanted to you. You could also connect a streaming device like a Roku 4K Streaming Stick to it. On the side of the TV, you'll find a single HDMI port, a USB port out for power, an optical output, 3.5mm auxiliary output and Ethernet port. The TV's connectivity options. David Carnoy/CNET Screwed into the back of TV is a handle made out of faux leather for carrying the TV, which is fairly lightweight at 11 pounds. Skyworth also sells a carrying case for it, which is also currently on sale for $50. Is this a better option than a portable monitor? In some ways, yes. First off, this is bigger than most portable monitors, and to reiterate, the key feature here is the integrated battery (alas, it doesn't appear to be replaceable), so you can view the TV wherever you want (for 2 to 3 hours anyway). I used it on my home Wi-Fi but also connected the TV to my phone's hotspot when I was outside, and it worked fine streaming content. True, it's significantly more expensive than many portable monitors, but the use case for a portable monitor tends to be different.
