Cricketer Yash Dayal booked in Jaipur for allegedly raping minor
Cricketer Yash Dayal has been booked by the police in Jaipur for allegedly raping a minor, The Indian Express reported on Friday. The case comes weeks after Dayal was booked in a separate rape case filed on the basis of a complaint by a woman from Ghaziabad. The cricketer plays for the Royal Challengers Bengaluru in the Indian Premier League. The latest case against Dayal was filed on Wednesday based on a complaint by a 19-year-old aspiring cricketer. She alleged that he raped her in 2023, when she was 17 years old, PTI reported. The complainant alleged that a similar assault took place in April this year at a hotel in Jaipur's Sitapur area. She claimed before the police that Dayal had promised to help her in her cricketing career. 'FIR was registered against Yash Dayal for rape under relevant sections of POCSO [Protection of Children from Sexual Offences] Act and the BNS [Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita],' PTI quoted Anil Jaiman, the station house officer of Jaipur's Sanganer Sadar police station, as saying. The previous case of alleged rape against Dayal was filed earlier this month, after a woman from Ghaziabad alleged that he 'emotionally, mentally, and physically' exploited her after promising to marry her. The woman had registered a complaint on June 21 through the chief minister's online grievance portal. In the complaint, she said that she had been in a relationship with Dayal for five years.

JAIPUR: IPL side Royal Challengers Bengaluru's under-fire pacer Yash Dayal has been accused of raping a minor in an FIR registered against him by Jaipur Police. The 27-year-old cricketer from Uttar Pradesh is already facing charges of sexual exploitation from a woman in Ghaziabad who has alleged that Dayal abused her after promising to marry her during a five-year relationship. SHO of Jaipur's Sanganer Sadar police station Anil Jaiman said that the latest FIR was registered on Wednesday. "FIR was registered against Yash Dayal for rape under relevant sections of POCSO (Protection of Children from Sexual Offences) act and the BNS (Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita)," he said here on Friday. According to Jaiman, the victim has alleged that the player raped her first in 2023 when she was 17 and a similar assault took place in April this year at a hotel in Sitapura area. "She alleged that the cricketer had promised help and support in her career. He contacted her in April this year when he was in Jaipur for IPL and called her to the hotel where he allegedly raped her again," the SHO said, adding that the matter was under investigation.

Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) pacer Yash Dayal finds himself in more trouble as a second FIR has been filed against the cricketer, TOI reported. The latest FIR alleges that the Uttar Pradesh-based player sexually assaulted a 17-year-old from Jaipur in 2023. This comes only weeks after a rape complaint was filed against him in UP's Ghaziabad by a woman who accused him of "exploiting" her. SHO Anil Kumar Jaiman of Sanganer Sadar police station confirmed the cricketer's identity based on the FIR registered on Wednesday under Section 64 of the new penal code BNS, which mandates a minimum jail term of 10 years, and relevant sections of the POCSO Act, the TOI report stated. The complaint alleges that Dayal raped the then 17-year-old girl first in 2023 and once again in April this year in a hotel in Jaipur. "It is alleged that around two years ago, when the complainant was a minor, he raped her on multiple occasions after offering to help build her cricket career," Jaiman told TOI. "This year, he contacted her again when he was in Jaipur on IPL duty, called her to his hotel and allegedly raped her there," he added. A case was registered immediately after the victim chose to report the multiple instances of alleged sexual assault. Investigators are working on the case, including steps to record her detailed statement, he Allahabad High Court stayed Dayal's arrest in the Ghaziabad case on July 15, saying no coercive action should be taken against him till the next hearing. The FIR in that case was been filed on July 6 at Indirapuram police station, based on a complaint by the survivor to UP CM Yogi Adityanath through the state's integrated grievance redress system.

Dayal started his IPL career with the Gujarat Titans in 2022 before moving to RCB, which bought him for Rs five crore in the 2024 players' auction. He was retained by the Bengaluru team for this year's season too and was a key member of the trophy-winning outfit under Rajat Patidar.
