Duke lands productive WR from Alabama
The Duke Blue Devils can light off some celebratory fireworks. Three-star wide receiver DeShawn Spencer committed to Duke on Friday, picking them over the Maryland Terrapins. It is a massive win for Manny Diaz's program, he is the 16th player overall and the second wide receiver to join their 2026 recruiting class. He is also their second-highest ranked commit and a proven winner. He has helped Saraland High School go 27-2 over the past two seasons and reach back-to-back Alabama 6A championship games. He switched to wide receiver ahead of his junior year and took off, catching 54 passes for 1,037 yards and 13 touchdowns in 12 games. The former running back also carried the ball 20 times for 183 yards and two more touchdowns. He was a successful running back as a sophomore, finishing with 561 yards and six touchdowns on 59 carries, an average of 9.5 yards per rush. Duke can use that versatility when Spencer makes it to Durham to create good matchups for him in either the slot or backfield. Spencer is ranked as the No. 475 overall player and No. 76 wide receiver in the 247Sports composite rankings. The 5-foot-11, 170-pounder is also the No. 19 player from Alabama. Wisconsin football offers 2026 wide receiver from Alabama
Wisconsin football offers 2026 wide receiver from Alabama Wisconsin football extended an offer to class of 2026 wide receiver DeShawn Spencer over the weekend. The Badgers join the three-star recruit's growing offer sheet that also includes Houston, Arkansas, Auburn, Kentucky, Georgia Tech, Maryland, UCF and Vanderbilt. 247Sports currently ranks Spencer as the No. 451 overall player in the class of 2026, No. 73 wide receiver and No. 18 recruit from the state of Alabama. According to the service, he has official visits scheduled to UCF (June 13) and Houston (June 19), with several weekends still to be filled. 247Sports has yet to log a commitment prediction, though On3 currently lists UCF as the prohibitive favorite at this stage of the process. As things stand, Wisconsin's class of 2026 ranks No. 43 nationally with six players committed. Of those six, three-star Tayshon Bardo is the only wide receiver. Spencer will be a name to monitor as May continues, especially if Wisconsin adds him to its busy June official visit list. Wisconsin seldom recruits the state of Alabama. Three-star cornerback Jay Harper (class of 2024) is the program's only commitment from the state in the last decade. Running back Bradrick Shaw was the last, back in 2015.
