A 13-year-old boy and a woman, identified as 49-year-old Knisha Ann Perkins, were arrested on July 15, after the 8-year-old, identified as Kylen Powell, was found dead, according to WALB-TV. The teen, who was not identified due to his age, allegedly shot and killed Kylen at around 11 p.m. local time on July 11 at their grandmother Perkins' home in Bainbridge, Ga., per the outlet. WALB-TV reported that the two boys were cousins. The boys had been staying at their grandmother's house when the 13-year-old allegedly shot the 8-year-old in the face with a 9mm handgun, WALB-TV reported. It's unclear how the teenager got hold of the firearm. A deputy with the Decatur County Sheriff's Office arrived on the scene and found the 8-year-old lying on the living room floor and 'determined that he was beyond life-saving measures,' WALB-TV reported, citing an initial incident report from the sheriff's office. The deputy also said in the report that officers were 'unable to locate the firearm as it was not near the scene of the deceased.' Following the incident, deputy Decatur County Coroner DeWitt Phillip warned families to 'secure' their "firearms,' especially when kids are in the house, in an interview with WALB-TV. 'Kids get a hold of them, and they don't think,' Phillip said. 'They watch TV and everyone gets up. We need people to secure 'em so we don't have these children dead. Don't leave them out where kids can play with them, because they just don't understand.' 'I have worked so many of these, and it's not easy and it never gets easier for us,' Phillip added. 'The families have to live with it, but the coroners do too.'The teenager was charged with felony murder and aggravated assault, and Perkins was charged with three counts of cruelty to children in the second degree and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, according to the outlet. The Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI), Decatur County Sheriff's Office (DCSO) and Decatur County Coroner did not immediately respond to PEOPLE's request for comment on the incident. YouTube icon and sometimes professional prizefighter, Jake Paul has just completed one of the biggest real estate deals in Georgia's history. According to the Robb Report, Paul laid out $39 million to purchase a 5,600-acre ranch in Decatur County. The property, known as Southlands, was originally a hunting lodge. However, it now appears as if Paul will have it all to himself to enjoy. Paul beamed about the purchase on his "Iced Coffee Hour" podcast, where he also revealed he has been dreaming about buying a ranch for a long time. "I've wanted to buy a ranch for the last 15 years," he said. "I wanted a place where I can wakesurf, hunt, and build a racetrack." Paul also said he was excited about the prospect of using the expansive property to begin growing some of his own food and commune with nature. Don't Miss: Warren Buffett once said, "If you don't find a way to make money while you sleep, you will work until you die." Here's , starting today. $100k+ in investable assets? – no cost, no obligation. Although Paul began his career on YouTube, he has made a high-profile transition to professional boxing. He is coming off a victory over former world champion Mike Tyson in a lucrative pay-per-view match that, according to the Robb Report, paid him $30 million. Paul also told his listeners that he used the earnings from that fight to purchase Southlands. The Robb Report says Jon Kohler and Walter Hatchett of Jon Kohler & Associates brokered the transaction. Broker Jon Kohler & Associates, which handled the transaction, said in a press release that Paul's purchase was "one of the most expensive private land purchases in Georgia history." Kohler described it as "land ownership equivalent of owning an NFL team." The property's history dates back nearly 100 years, when conservationist Herbert Stoddard purchased a 26,000-acre parcel that would become known as Southlands. Trending: It's no wonder Jeff Bezos holds over $250 million in art — In 1937, Stoddard sold the land to former Rhode Island Sen. Jesse Houghton Metcalf, who built a lodge on a bluff overlooking Lake Seminole. It was under Metcalf's ownership that Southlands became known as a sportsman's paradise. Lumber giant International Paper (NYSE:IP) purchased Southlands in 1958. It owned the property until 2010, when it caught the eye of investor Jim Dahl. It's not hard to see what attracted Dahl to Southlands. The entire property is surrounded by a lush, protected habitat that provides hunters with an ample supply of quails and deer. There is also a well-stocked pond and plenty of streams for fishing. Southlands' eight-bedroom, five and a half bathroom main house is complemented by multiple outbuildings that include a guest cottage, barn, and two managers' quarters. Southlands was originally listed for $42.5 million, but Paul secured a small discount and closed the deal at $39 million. Southland is the latest addition to Paul's growing real estate portfolio. reports that Paul also owns a $16 million compound in Dorado, Puerto Rico. Like Southlands, it is a large compound and includes an eight-bedroom main house. That property also includes a 40-person hot tub. Paul is certainly living a charmed life. Inside Jake Paul's stunning new $39m Georgia ranch... bought with earnings from blockbuster Mike Tyson fight
YouTuber-turned-boxing star Jake Paul has bought a sprawling, $39million ranch in Georgia with the money he made by beating Mike Tyson. Paul, 28, took on Tyson in a controversial, money-spinning clash fight back in November. He is more than three decades younger than the former heavyweight champion. He claimed to have made $40m from the win at AT&T Stadium and the former YouTuber later revealed that that he has wanted to buy a ranch for the past 15 years. He has now snapped up a historic plantation that covers 5,746 acres and boasts a 30-acre duck pond, 20-acre eagle lake and five miles of spring creeks. The ranch, in Decatur County, Georgia, is known as Southlands Plantation and was originally listed for $42.5m. It's been described as 'the land ownership equivalent to owning an NFL team' and is believed to be one of the most expensive private land sales in the state's history. Paul admitted the plantation is a little bit bigger than what he wanted but said he knew he had to buy it. Decatur County is deep in the south of Georgia, near the border with Florida, with the Appalachian Mountains only a stone's throw away. The main house includes eight bedrooms and five-and-a-half bathrooms, with a manager's house, several guest homes and a barn also on site. The ranch is also home to a range of wildlife, including deer and turkeys, while it also offers the chance for horseback riding, hunting and watersports. Paul, the younger brother of YouTuber-turned-WWE star Logan Paul, has won 11 of his 12 professional fights. He faces Julio Cesar Chavez Jr on June 28. 'I would say Chavez is most likely going to be the toughest opponent (I have faced yet), the most experienced, literally the most amount of fights out of all of my opponents,' Paul told DAZN. 'He's a former world champion which I haven't faced a former boxing world champion other than Mike Tyson but obviously Mike was older, Chavez is still in his thirties so I think this is gonna be the toughest one.' 'The Problem Child' has also been linked with a sensational fight against Anthony Joshua and Paul recently lifted the lid on their social media exchanges. When asked about his relationship with AJ following a phone call earlier this year, Paul said: 'It was all nice [speaking to AJ on the phone]. 'You know, we've been cordial. He DM'd me today, like saying "lol" to one of my training clips, and then I sent him a "lol" of him getting knocked out.' According to Paul, the exchange was all in good fun but it nevertheless highlighted a simmering tension between the two stars. 'I guess we're kind of s*** talking behind the scenes a bit,' he continued. 'But I have a lot of love for Anthony Joshua. I think this type of stuff is funny, and he's a great guy.' He added: 'A fight between us would be awesome, and I do believe I can win.'

Jake Paul has spent $39M for a massive Georgia ranch — ‘I wanted a place where I can wakesurf, hunt and build a racetrack'
Jake Paul, the YouTube star-turned-prizefighter, has just picked up a sprawling piece of Southern sporting history. The 27-year-old paid $39 million for a roughly 5,653-acre ranch in Georgia's Decatur County known as Southlands, in what brokers say is one of the largest recreational land deals in the state's history, according to a press release. The property, which came to market in October for $42.5 million, hadn't been publicly offered for nearly 90 years. Paul discussed the purchase earlier this month on 'The Iced Coffee Hour' podcast, revealing he used the bulk of his roughly $30 million earnings from his 2024 boxing match against heavyweight legend Mike Tyson to fund the acquisition. 'It's always been a dream of mine,' Paul said. 'I've wanted to buy a ranch for the last 15 years.' Set roughly 8 miles from Bainbridge, the plantation is a rare find in Georgia's quail belt. In addition to wild quail, the estate is home to trophy white-tail deer and features a variety of natural amenities, including 5 miles of spring-fed creeks, a stocked lake, a duck pond, a 60-acre irrigated field and direct frontage on Lake Seminole. Less than 3% of the land is wetlands. Jon Kohler of Jon Kohler & Associates, who co-listed the property with Walter Hatchett, likened the significance of the sale to owning a sports franchise. 'Southlands is an institution; it's like owning your own professional football team,' Kohler told Mansion Global. 'You get history, culture and traditions, and you're a land steward dictating its future.' The ranch includes a recently renovated 4,884-square-foot main lodge with eight bedrooms, five full bathrooms and one half bath. The grounds also hold a collection of updated and new outbuildings, including a four-stall barn for horseback and quail hunting, a manager's house and guesthouse, a pavilion, an equipment shed, a workshop and a cooler facility for game processing. Southlands was previously owned by Brian Philpot, CEO and principal owner of AgAmerica Lending, which specializes in agricultural loans. Philpot acquired the property in 2023 through a private transaction; the price was not disclosed. For Paul, who recalled spending time at a cabin with his father as a child, the purchase is about more than luxury. 'I wanted a place where I can wakesurf, hunt and build a racetrack,' he said on the podcast.
