Argentina stands with India to prevent Terrorism in all its form: Argentine Ambassador Mariano A. Caucino

Ambassador Mariano A. Caucino has stated that Argentina is standing with India on the need to prevent and combat Terrorism. 'Argentina was among the first countries to convey our message of support to the Indian Government and the Indian People on the atrocious terrorist attack that took place on April 22 in Pahalgam (Kashmir),' Caucino said while speaking during the Argentina's National Day Celebration in New Delhi on Tuesday. 'Terrorism is unacceptable in any of its forms and sovereign states have the right and the obligation to prevent and prosecute this threat to peace and world security', the envoy stated. Caucino expressed his strong support to India during the two hundred and ninth anniversary of Declaration of Independence of Argentina, which took place on 9th of July, 1816. Live Events The envoy stated that the bilateral link between the two nations is thriving to the extent that 'we celebrate the historical visit that Prime Minister Narendra Modi made to Argentina just two weeks'. Caucino sayed that 'Hon. PM Modi and President Javier Milei had the chance to exchange views on several areas of mutual interest including the share common views on the importance of free markets, deregulation, limited government and the rule of law'. Caucino reminded that the two countries share common values regarding 'democracy, freedom and respect for human dignity'. At the same time, 'both countries are pursuing a path of development with basis in a common understanding of the benefits of free markets'. 'I feel it is a great privilege to serve here when India has reached so high achievements in its recent historical experience, having become the World's fifth largest economy'. Caucino thanked India for its historical support on the "Malvinas Question" before the UN. The ambassador referred that 'in the economical field that I am pleased to highlight the remarkable progress in our bilateral trade over the past years. With a total trade volume reaching 4.6 billion US dollars, Argentina has solidified its position as the leading supplier of soybean oil to the Indian market and the third-largest provider of sunflower oil, significantly contributing to the food security of the Indian consumer'. In terms of the key sector of Mining, the envoy emphasized that 'recent years marked a significant milestone for Indian mining companies. The province of Catamarca is now hosting Indian firms that are not only exploring lithium but also showing interest in copper and gold. Governor Raúl Jalil of Catamarca visited India two months ago in order to enhance and promote these ties'. 'These investments are particularly important as India advances its electric vehicle (EV) development, aiming to secure a resilient and diversified supply chain for critical minerals essential for various industries in India', Ambassador Caucino added. 'We can contribute to India´s energy security as well', the envoy stated. 'It should be reminded that this year Mr Horacio Daniel Marín, President of YPF, Argentina's main oil and gas company, visited India and signed a MOU with Indian energy companies, in what represented an important step ahead for our relations on that matter'. Caucino was appointed Ambassador to India in 2024. Born in 1976, he is a lawyer, a historian and foreign policy expert. Previously he served as Argentine Ambassador to Costa Rica, Israel and Cyprus.
