Teenager assaulted, forcedto lick saliva, drink urine

Kanpur: A group of local youths from the Gujaini police station limits allegedly kidnapped a 17-year-old boy, subjected him to severe physical assault, and extorted Rs 6,000 from him at an isolated location. The assailants also forced him to lick saliva and consume urine. Taking cognisance of a video of the incident, the authorities registered a case and launched an investigation. The victim, who runs a cosmetics shop in Gujaini, recounted that on the evening of June 25, while he was at his shop, he received a telephone call from an acquaintance, Deepak Pal, a resident of Jarauli, who requested him to meet at Ram Gopal Chowk. When the victim reached the location, Deepak, accompanied by Shantanu and Deekay, made him sit in a vehicle and took him to a room where they assaulted him. The perpetrators forced him to perform humiliating acts and recorded the incident. Deputy commissioner of police (South) Deependra Nath Chaudhary said that a case had been registered against the three individuals. "Two teams have been assigned to nab the accused. They will be arrested soon and will face stringent legal action," the DCP added.

Man hires contract killers to murder son over affair and land dispute; 4 held

Amroha: Four men, including a 55-year-old father, were arrested on Saturday, in Amroha district after he allegedly hired contract killers to murder his son over a relationship with a married woman and a dispute over ancestral land. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now Police said Deepak Kumar, 27, was killed on the night of June 22. His body, bearing severe facial injuries, was found the next morning in a field in Shahwazpur village under Rajabpur police station limits. The body was sent for post-mortem at the district hospital and later identified. On June 23, Deepak's father, Satendra Singh, filed a police complaint claiming his son had left for Dehradun for work and had been murdered by unknown assailants. A case was registered under sections 103(1) and 238 of the BNS against unidentified persons. However, during the investigation, call detail records and technical surveillance pointed to Satendra's involvement. According to Amroha SP Amit Kumar Anand, Satendra had struck a deal worth Rs 2.7 lakh to have his son killed. He then attempted to mislead the investigation by lodging a false FIR. Police said Deepak had been pressuring his father to give him his share of the ancestral land and wanted to marry a married woman—both of which Satendra opposed. This led to repeated confrontations. On the night of the murder, the accused allegedly made Deepak drink alcohol, took him to a canal track, shot him dead, disfigured his face, and removed his clothes to prevent identification. Those arrested include Satendra Singh, contract killer Umar; and two accomplices—Zareef from Halpura and Raees Ahmad from Mundakhedi. Police have recovered a pistol and a shovel used in the crime. All four are currently in custody.

In separate incidents, two men arrested in Delhi for killing their fathers

In two separate cases of patricide reported in Delhi within 24 hours since Friday evening, two men were arrested for allegedly murdering their fathers following heated arguments. In the first incident, which occurred around 7.30 pm on Friday in North Delhi's Timarpur, Head Constable Nitin, while on patrol, heard the sound of a gunshot and rushed to the scene. He found a man lying unconscious on the footpath and several people attempting to wrest a firearm from a younger man. The deceased was identified as 60-year-old Surender, a sub-inspector from the Central Industrial Security Force who had retired around six months ago. His son, Deepak (26), was apprehended from the spot with a 12-bore gun, said police. 'Surender wanted to shift to his native place in Uttarakhand with his family after retirement. He had loaded the household articles in a tempo and was ready to leave… Deepak also wanted to go in the tempo. But there was space for only one passenger in the vehicle. They had an intense argument over who would get to go, and Deepak, who was carrying his father's 12-bore gun, fired upon his father…,' said DCP (North) Raja Banthia. The bullet struck Surender on the left cheek and caused multiple splinter injuries to his face, said police. The family rushed Surender to Hindu Rao Hospital, where he was declared brought dead. Deepak was arrested and charged under Section 103(1) (murder) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and also under the Arms Act. The weapon used in the crime, along with 11 live cartridges, was seized from Deepak, said police. In a separate case reported in Central Delhi's Paharganj the same day, a 45-year-old man, Vinod, was assaulted by his son Bhanu Pratap near Ambedkar Bhawan, said police. 'An eyewitness stated that he saw the deceased being assaulted in a nearby park by his son Bhanu Pratap, who pushed him and struck him with stones on the head and the chest,' said DCP (Central) Nidhin Valsan. Despite seeking treatment at a local clinic, Vinod succumbed to his injuries, said police. A murder case was registered at Paharganj police station under Section 103(1) (murder) of the BNS. Bhanu Pratap, who was arrested on Saturday, has admitted to having frequent arguments with his father, claiming that he assaulted him in a fit of rage, said police.

Delhi: Grief, fear grips village as decade-old gang dispute claims another life

Tension and shock gripped Nangal Thakran village hours after the murder of Deepak Thakran, the 38-year-old nephew of jailed gangster Manjeet Mahal, in front of his 10-year-old daughter near Bawana on Friday morning. The unease was palpable, with heavy police deployment — nearly 30 personnel in uniform and plain clothes — stationed across the village, especially around Deepak's residence, to prevent any further violence and provide security to his family. Relatives of Deepak Thakran return from the crematorium at Nangal Thakran village on Friday. (Sanjeev Verma/HT Photo) When HT visited the village, the mood was one of fear and grief. At Deepak's home and the nearby crime scene, barely a kilometre apart, residents maintained silence, unwilling to speak about the murder. Both sides of the road leading to his house were lined with 60-70 parked cars belonging to relatives and friends. A sombre calm descended as Deepak's body, post-autopsy, arrived for cremation. More than 200 people attended the funeral under tight security. Villagers openly discussed the murder, with many blaming Mahal's notoriety for Deepak's death. 'Not only Deepak but all his family members are innocent and law-abiding people. His only fault is being Manjeet Mahal's nephew. We never saw him involved in any dispute,' said Rakesh Kumar, a local resident. 'His brother Devesh works in a nationalised bank.' Shops along the entry to the village — a soft drink stall, a garment store, a sweet shop, and an ice-cream parlour — were open, but deserted. Most male residents had gathered at the crematorium in the village centre, while women had assembled at Deepak's residence to console the family. Security cameras at the gate and along the corridor leading to Deepak's house monitored all incoming vehicles and visitors. An adjoining property, owned by Deepak's uncle, had a hall on the ground floor with chairs and hookahs arranged for male relatives and neighbours. When HT visited, it stood empty — the men were all at the cremation. Outside, security was intense. Around 10 police personnel, some in plainclothes, were stationed near Deepak's home. Another 20 cops, armed with short- and long-range weapons, including MP5 guns, were posted at the crematorium. The atmosphere was heavy with sorrow. Deepak's father Devender and brother Devesh, both in tears, performed the last rites. After Deepak's body was cremated — covered with logs, cow dung cakes, and dry rice straw — people slowly began to leave in groups. Some spoke quietly about the killing and its implications. Most, however, avoided talking altogether. 'It's not the right time to discuss the case. Things could turn ugly if you stay longer here and ask questions,' said one neighbour, visibly shaken. Visitors folded hands in front of the grieving family, exchanged brief condolences, and departed quietly. Deepak's father and brother, still crying, thanked them for their support. The murder took place around 7.30am when Deepak, a share trader, was out for a walk with his daughter Ananya, just an intersection away from his house. Two men on a motorcycle fired 12 rounds at him, hitting his chest and abdomen. He died instantly. Ananya was wounded in the arm. Deepak's father, walking nearby with a neighbour, rushed to the spot on hearing gunfire and found his son in a pool of blood. Relatives and neighbours remained tight-lipped about the decade-long ugly rivalry between jail gangster Mahal and UK-based gangster Kapil Sangwan alias Nandu — Mahal's arch rival. Their rivalry has led to the deaths of at least two dozen people. The feud began in 2015 after the murder of Sunil alias Doctor, brother-in-law of Kapil and Jyoti Sangwan, allegedly by Mahal and his associates. This sparked a series of retaliatory killings over the years, claiming nearly two dozen lives. Kapil Sangwan alias Nandu, now believed to be operating from the UK, later claimed responsibility for Deepak's murder in a social media post, warning that anyone meeting Mahal during parole would 'meet the same fate.' HT could not independently verify the authenticity of the post.
