UK beachfront waterpark to open new soft play this summer and it's free to visit

A NEW free-to-visit soft play is opening at a waterpark this year in time for summer. SC2 waterpark was forced to close back in 2023, but has confirmed they would finally be reopening this summer. 6 6 And ahead of the reopening, a new soft play is opening inside as well. The new kids attraction is part of the Rainforest Diner, with the soft play also rainforest themed. Inside the two-storey climbing structure will have nets and tunnels to explore. Jamie Groves, managing director of Denbighshire Leisure Ltd ( (DLL), said: 'We are bringing a free, brand new soft play to SC2 this Summer, ensuring maximum fun and play opportunities. "This Summer is going to the our biggest and best one yet." Guests can opt for coffee with Costa as well as ice cream from Red Boat Gelato at the cafe, as well as snacks such as pizza and burgers. The new rainforest soft play is alongside a larger dinosaur soft play and a Ninja TAG adventure course. But the main attraction is the indoor waterpark which is set to reopen next month. SC2 closed in December 2023 after huge storm damage. But from July 5, families will be able to visit the waterpark once again. TUI resort next door to giant waterpark 6 Inside is a huge indoor pool along with flume rides. And when the weather is good, there is also an outdoor splash pad with fountains and pools. Jamie Groves, managing director at Denbighshire Leisure Ltd, said: "Everyone at DLL is extremely excited to see our flagship attraction reopening. The damage to the roof was extensive, but we were never going to let that get us down. 6 6 "SC2 is the jewel in Rhyl's crown and our priority was to re-open the attraction as soon as we possibly could. "We know how important SC2 is to Rhyl, and we were determined to come back bigger and better than before. Tickets start from £11.50 for adults, which includes an hour access while kids are £9. Under 1s cost £1.95, while the Ninja Tag and soft play also cost extra. In the mean time, here is the £200million indoor waterpark opening in Manchester. Surgeons from Europe observe robotic knee surgery at Ysbyty Gwynedd

The surgeons, from Poland, Slovakia, Romania and the United Kingdom have been observing the operations carried out by Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon Muthu Ganapathi. Ysbyty Gwynedd, in Bangor, has been pioneering robotic knee replacements since 2022 and is the only NHS hospital in Wales to offer this type of surgery. Mr Ganapathi along with colleagues Agustin Soler, Koldo Azura, Amir Azam and Ashok Goel have now carried out more than 250 robotic knee replacements using the ROSA robotic system. Mr Ganapathi said: 'There has been a paradigm shift in how a knee replacement is carried out. 'Traditionally the bone cuts were made with a 'one shape fit all' approach but there is increasing recognition that a personalised approach maybe better. With this type of approach, the bone cuts are personalised to match as closely to the individual patient's knee shape. The precision of the robot allows us to do the personalised bone cuts.' (Image: BCUHB) 'With this personalised approach the recovery seems to be faster and less painful compared to traditional knee replacements.' Sion Quinn, Clinical Lead for Trauma and Orthopaedic Physiotherapy at Ysbyty Gwynedd, said: 'Since the establishment of robotic surgery we have seen patients recovering faster with less pain after their knee replacements. 'Within the NHS we are always looking at ways to improve the patient experience and with the introduction of these robotic knees we have seen improvement in patient outcomes.' MORE NEWS How much was spent on failed Denbighshire Leisure sale – full cost breakdown Man 'trapped' in vehicle taken to hospital after St Asaph crash Last year, Zimmer Biomet (ROSA robot) recognised Ysbyty Gwynedd as an official training centre for robotic knee replacements for surgeons across the UK and Europe which has led to interest further afield in this type of procedure. The use of the robot has also created further benefits by establishing an industry funded advanced Hip and Knee Robotic Fellowship role at Ysbyty Gwynedd. This provides the opportunity for senior surgeons across the UK to work with the robotic team for six months and get trained in robotics before applying for their Consultant posts. Orthopaedic Surgeon, Ashok Singh, who is the current Robotic Fellow has already completed his Orthopaedic training in London and chose this fellowship to advance his skills. He said: 'I was attracted to this Fellowship as the skill sets it offered was unique for this fellowship. It isn't just the robotic technique I am having the opportunity to learn it is also other techniques such as the direct anterior approach which is a minimally invasive technique for total hip arthroplasty and Oxford Uni knees. 'I am really enjoying this Fellowship, the personalised knee replacement technique with robotics has been extremely beneficial and I have seen excellent results. So, it's something I will definitely be using in my practice as I develop in my career.' Mr Ganapathi added: 'We are delighted with the feedback we are receiving from our Fellows since it was established last year – it's been such a positive experience for them and us as Consultants. 'The ROSA has helped us put Ysbyty Gwynedd and the Health Board on the map for innovation and how we are constantly trying to improve our service and ensure we always have the best outcomes for our patients.'

No place for Rhyl as Red Arrows shares full 2025 shows list

The Royal Air Force (RAF)'s aerobatic display team has been a mainstay at Rhyl Air Show, which is typically held on the Saturday and Sunday of the August bank holiday weekend. But the event has not taken place in Rhyl since 2023, with no confirmation yet as to whether it will go ahead this summer. On the Red Arrows' full list of 2025 performances, it says that the aerobatic team will be at the Roskilde Airshow in Denmark on Sunday, August 24 (the bank holiday weekend). This follows its appearance at the Clacton Airshow and the Sidmouth Regatta show in Devon, both on Friday, August 22. Last month, Rhyl Air Show organisers Denbighshire Leisure Ltd said it hoped to share information regarding this year's event soon. The Red Arrows featured at the 2022 and 2023 Rhyl Air Shows, but did not attend the 2019 event – the last prior to the COVID-19 pandemic - as it clashed with a tour of North America. 'Unfortunately, we have been informed that they will be away on an international tour over the summer, and unavailable for UK displays. "We have concluded that it would be impossible for Denbighshire Leisure to deliver a show in keeping with the proud tradition of the Rhyl Air Show, which also meets public expectations, but we will come back in 2025 stronger.' As well as the Red Arrows, the 2023 Rhyl Air Show also featured performances from the RAF Battle of Britain Memorial Flight, Strikemaster Pair, Calidus Autogyro, and more.
