Girl Saw Mom Being Attacked by 2 Dogs. How 6-Year-Old's Brave Act Saved Her Life
A 6-year-old girl from Texas is being praised for saving her mom's life after calling 911 during a dog attack.
On Thursday, July 17, authorities responded to a call at about 7:40 a.m. local time to a home on Carla Drive in Denison about a reported dog attack, the Denison Police Department said on Facebook. When officers arrived at the address, they saw a woman being attacked by two dogs, who then charged at the officers when they got out of their vehicle.
'To neutralize the threat, officers were forced to use their firearm, resulting in the death of one of the dogs,' police said. 'The other dog ran inside the home.'
The woman, later identified by her family as Lindsay Stroup, was taken to a local hospital with 'serious injuries.' Animal Services arrived later to capture the second dog.
An investigation into the incident is ongoing. The Denison Police Department did not immediately respond to PEOPLE's request for further comment.
Stroup and her young daughter, Lily Goligowski, were watching the two dogs for a friend when the animals began fighting each other, CBS affiliate WLKY reported. Then the dogs turned on Stroup.
'Even if you think you know these animals, they can still hit, flip a switch without you even being aware of that switch being inside of them,' Thomas Goligowski, Lily's dad, told the outlet.
The little girl saw her mom rolling on the ground during the attack before taking Lindsay's cell phone and locking herself in the bathroom. Then, she called 911, WLKY reported.
'She definitely saved her mom's life," said Thomas, according to the outlet.
Minutes later, police arrived at the scene, and one officer administered care to Lindsay before she was transported to the hospital, where she's had several surgeries, WLKY reported.
Lindsay's loved ones have created a GoFundMe as she recovers. The organizer also commended Lily's actions.

'Lindsay is a mother of a beautiful 6-year-old daughter, and without her daughter's bravery in calling the cops during the attack, Lindsay wouldn't have made it,' wrote the organizer, who did not immediately respond to PEOPLE's request for comment.
According to the donation page, Lindsay was able to open her eyes at one point. But, as of Wednesday, July 23, she had to be put back on a ventilator and dialysis.
After the terrifying attack, Lily told her dad that everything would work out.
' 'Dad, Mom's going to be okay. I know Mom's going to be okay,' " Thomas recalled his daughter saying to him, according to WLKY.
