Police say alcohol was a factor in Saugeen Shores water rescue

Saugeen Shores police, the Fire Department, and paramedics assisted in a water rescue Saturday afternoon.
First responders were called to the scene near Denny's Dam around 4:45 p.m. after they received reports of multiple canoes capsized and stuck in netting at the top of the dam.
Nine people were rescued, and no injuries were reported.
'We want to remind the public that alcohol and water do not mix. Please do not drink while out on the river as disaster can happen in an instant,' a statement from Saugeen Shores Police Service reads.
