HERE Technologies and Genesys International tie up to tackle distracted driving in India

In a strategic push to enhance road safety and digital driving experiences in India, global digital mapping firm HERE Technologies and Indian geospatial solutions major Genesys International have announced a collaboration to build next-generation in-car navigation systems . The initiative aims to reduce distracted driving by integrating advanced mapping, real-time traffic updates, and Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) into vehicles. With over 80,000 road fatalities annually in India—more than 3,000 of which are attributed to mobile phone use—the partnership is focused on delivering intelligent, safety-driven solutions. Leveraging HERE's AI-powered digital mapping and Genesys' India-specific ADAS map technologies, the duo plans to develop cockpit-ready navigation systems that offer road hazard alerts, speed limit data, real-time traffic updates, and precise guidance for EV drivers, including charging station locations. A HERE survey found that 98 per cent of Indian road users expressed concern about road safety, while 91 per cent recognised ADAS as critical to ensuring safer driving. The solution addresses India's growing demand for Software-Defined Vehicles (SDVs) by creating embedded navigation systems that work seamlessly with infotainment and safety platforms. 'Our collaboration with Genesys International bridges global expertise and local innovation, enabling automakers to integrate intelligent, ADAS-ready solutions,' said Deon Newman, SVP & GM for Asia Pacific, HERE Technologies. 'This partnership will empower Indian vehicles with dynamic maps and real-time safety data,' added Sajid Malik, Chairman & MD, Genesys International. As part of the long-term strategy, HERE and Genesys are exploring the creation of a dedicated Mobility Innovation Centre in India to co-develop and test solutions tailored for local driving conditions.
