IT-BT dept hosts Global Collaboration Meet ahead of BTS 2025
The Department of Electronics, Information Technology, Biotechnology and Science & Technology, Government of Karnataka, under its Global Innovation Alliance (GIA) initiative, hosted the Global Collaboration Meet in Bengaluru on Monday to promote the Bengaluru Tech Summit 2025 (BTS 2025) to its partner countries and international trade mission representatives. The meet was convened to further strengthen cross-border collaboration in the lead-up to BTS 2025, scheduled to take place from 18–20 November at BIEC, Bengaluru. Global collaborations 'This year we host the 28th edition of BTS, for the first time at the world-class Bangalore International Exhibition Centre. I warmly encourage all our GIA partner countries to make the most of this opportunity by bringing strong participation of country delegations, hosting national pavilions in the exhibition and curating country-focused sessions in the Global Convergence conference track,' said Ekroop Caur, Secretary to Government, Department of Electronics, IT & BT, and S&T. Beyond Bengaluru According to Ms. Caur, clusters outside Bengaluru including Mysuru, Dharwad, Belagavi, Hubballi and Mangaluru also have been receiving significant traction from foreign countries. Talking about the visit of a delegation from New Jersey to Mysuru, she said, 'We have done a Letter of Intent last year with them and we will be in due course doing an MOU. They are very keen on looking at Mysuru as one of the potential destinations. Similarly, there have been other engagements. We also do three events in each of the clusters as a run-up to BTS. All the three events do see a significant number of countries participating.' She also revealed that Innoverse, a deep tech incubator announced by the government at BTS 2024, will soon start physically incubating startups at the facility, which is in works at NGEF Layout, Indira Nagar. Growing in size The tech summit this year is expected to see more than 1,00,000 attendees, including startup founders, investors, delegates, speakers, and exhibitors. It will feature 10 tracks including IT & DeepTech, Electro-Semicon, Digital Health & Biotech, the Startup Ecosystem, Global Collaboration and India- USA Tech Conclave, AI Universe, Finverse, Defence & Spacetech and My Planet My Future, which focuses on sustainability and climate tech. A major highlight will be the 'Future Makers Conclave', an immersive programme to be attended by more than 2000 startup founders. Special programmes like the Rural IT Quiz, Bio Quiz, Bio Posters, IT, Bio and Exhibitor awards, and Global Leaders Reception will also be part of the summit.

BTS 2025 aims for 20,000 startup founder turnout
Bengaluru, July 21 (UNI) The Karnataka government aims to bring together 20,000 startup founders at the Bangalore Tech Summit (BTS) 2025, in what is being positioned as the largest and most inclusive platform for innovators in the country's tech ecosystem. The announcement was made by Ekroop Caur, Principal Secretary of the Department of Electronics, IT, Bt, and S&T, during the curtain-raiser event held today. Caur said this year's BTS will offer an early-stage launchpad for startups through multiple rounds of pitching, mentorship from leading industry figures, and exclusive access to venture capitalists. 'This will be a focused, outcome-oriented engagement that supports innovation, investment, and cross-border collaboration,' she said. The event, now in its 28th edition, will take place from November 18 to 20 at the Bangalore International Exhibition Centre (BIEC), moving for the first time from its traditional venue at Bangalore Palace. The shift, according to Caur, reflects the government's intention to scale the event in size and ambition. 'Our dream is to move from leapfrogging to pole-vaulting,' she said, describing this year's theme, "Future-Eyes", as a call to shift from incremental to transformative innovation. This edition will feature a significantly expanded format, with 10 thematic tracks, up from six last year. New additions include verticals on Artificial Intelligence (AI Universe), Defense and Space Tech, Finverse (for FinTech), and My Planet, My Future, a track focused on sustainability. Each vertical will host its own sessions, business meetings, and exhibitions, providing deep-dive sectoral engagement. One of the key highlights will be the Future Makers Conclave, a three-hour exclusive event for startup founders, featuring ten influential speakers sharing life-changing ideas in 10-minute talks, a keynote address, and an experiential learning session. Entry will be restricted to founders and co-founders only. The summit will continue to highlight Karnataka's expanding global connections through the Global Innovation Alliance (GIA), which now includes partnerships with over 30 countries. Caur emphasized that these ties go beyond ceremonial MoUs. 'We have facilitated over 2,000 startups, 60 MoUs, and 500 international sessions through GIA. This is not symbolic; it is structural and strategic,' she stated. A major focus this year will be sustainability. The event will be entirely plastic-free, with all materials, including lanyards and ID cards, made from biodegradable materials. Waste generated on site will be processed in-house, and the event will run on green energy. The move to BIEC was also driven by the need to reduce reliance on diesel generators, which were unavoidable at Bangalore Palace. BTS 2025 will also present a holistic cultural experience, with curated Bangalore Walks allowing participants to explore the city's heritage and creativity. Visitors will be taken to cultural landmarks such as the Science Gallery, National Gallery of Modern Art, Museum of Art & Photography, and the Venkatachalapathy Art Gallery. Caur said the summit would also serve as a gateway to emerging tech clusters beyond Bangalore. Cities like Mysuru, Hubballi-Dharwad, Belagavi, and Mangaluru are being actively developed as innovation hubs. The government has launched a ₹1,000 crore Local Economy Accelerator Program (LEAP) to support infrastructure, incubation, and entrepreneurship in these clusters. 'We invite foreign delegates and investors to explore these regions,' she added. On the skilling front, Caur highlighted the 'Nipun' program, an industry-led initiative to drive large-scale skilling, upskilling, and reskilling in emerging technologies. The government has also initiated the setting up of a deep-tech incubator in Indiranagar and a state innovation museum in Bangalore. International collaboration will be further deepened through more delegations, exchange programs, and mixer events under the GIA platform, she said. Upcoming market access programs will see outbound delegations to countries like France, South Korea, and Finland. Caur called on global partners, international trade bodies, and technology associations to engage meaningfully with BTS 2025. 'This summit is not just Karnataka's showcase. Bengaluru Tech Summit 2025 to be held from Nov 18-20
Agency: Bengaluru, Jul 21 (PTI) Bengaluru Tech Summit 2025 is scheduled to take place from November 18 to 20, an official said on Monday. It is an initiative of the Department of Electronics, IT and Biotechnology, Government of Karnataka, in partnership with industry stakeholders, and brings together the worlds of technology and business, according to its website. 'This year, we will host the 28th edition of BTS. It is a powerful platform to showcase your country's innovation ecosystem, connect with Indian industry leaders and startups, and explore collaboration across research, technology, and policy," Ekroop Caur, Secretary to the Government of Karnataka, Department of Electronics, IT & BT, said. The summit is expected to bring together over one lakh attendees, including more than 20,000 startup founders, 1,000 investors, 15,000 delegates, nearly 600 speakers, and 1,200 exhibitors. She announced the dates during the Global Collaboration Meet held in Bengaluru. The Global Collaboration Meet, organised by the Department of Electronics, IT & BT under the Global Innovation Alliance (GIA) initiative, saw participation from partner countries including the United Kingdom, Australia, Germany, Japan, Switzerland, the USA, among others. According to a press note, GIA was launched in 2017 to foster partnerships with leading nations in technology and innovation. From an initial 10 countries in 2018, the GIA network has grown to include 35 countries in 2025, it added. Karnataka's US roadshow generates Rs 5,500 crore prospective investments
BENGALURU: In a significant boost to its innovation and technology ecosystem, the state government has wrapped up a 10-day roadshow across the United States, generating prospective investments worth Rs 5,500 crore. These investments are expected to span talent acquisition, infrastructure development, Research and Development, and collaborative ventures, collectively projected to create employment opportunities for more than 7,200 individuals, with further investments actively in the pipeline. Organised by the Department of Electronics, IT and Biotechnology, the roadshow covered Boston, New York, and San Francisco between June 16 and 25. The state-led delegation engaged with over 120 companies, from multinational corporations to startups, visiting leading academic institutions, and hosting roundtables. Several MoUs and Letters of Intent were signed as part of this initiative. The official delegation was led by Dr Ekroop Caur, Secretary at the Department of Electronics, IT/BT, alongside Hoskote MLA and Chairman of KEONICS, Sharath Bachegowda, among others, to highlight Karnataka's dynamic policy framework, deep talent pool, and collaborative potential across sectors including Biotechnology, Electronics System Design and Manufacturing (ESDM), and Deep Tech. During the roadshow, the state participated in global conferences. The BIO International Convention in Boston attracted over 20,000 participants from 72 countries to the India Pavilion.

Karnataka govt. initiates study to assess impact of AI on workforce
The Department of Electronics, IT, and Biotechnology of Karnataka has launched a study to assess the impact of artificial intelligence (AI) on the State's workforce. According to Karnataka's IT and BT Minister Priyank Kharge, the initiative aims to inform the upcoming IT Policy 2025 and shape strategic interventions under the government's flagship skilling initiative, NIPUNA Karnataka. As Karnataka continues to lead India's technological journey — with Bengaluru recently being ranked in the fifth position globally in AI and big data ecosystems, besides being home to over one lakh AI professionals — the State is placing strong emphasis on evidence-based policymaking to ensure inclusive, future-ready growth, the Minister said in a communique. The AI Workforce Impact Survey invites responses from industry leaders, HR heads, technology practitioners, and the academia. The survey, among other things, aims to understand how AI is being integrated into day-to-day operations across organisations, which business functions are seeing the biggest changes due to wider access to AI tools, and which job roles are most vulnerable to automation.
