Matlock building fire blamed on tree cuttings being lit
The deliberate burning of tree cuttings was the likely cause of a fire at a derelict building in Derbyshire, a joint police and fire investigation has services were called to the blaze at a former quarry site in Dale Road, Matlock, at 17:07 BST on Fire and Rescue Service said nearby tree cuttings were set alight and flames then spread to the empty fire crews, two water carriers and an aerial ladder platform were sent to the scene at the height of the blaze, the fire service added.

Fire-hit building in Matlock unsafe for investigation work
A derelict fire-hit building in Derbyshire has been left unsafe for investigations into the cause to Fire and Rescue Service said crews from Matlock, Crich, Alfreton, Clay Cross and Wirksworth were called to Lumsdale Road, Matlock, at 17:20 BST on were advised to keep windows and doors closed while the blaze was dealt with but as darkness fell crews were forced to leave the scene at about 22: fire was fully out by about 11:30 on Wednesday but the brigade said the "unsafe condition" of the building has prevented any investigators from beginning a probe into the cause.

Investigation to take place after Normanton house fire
An investigation is due to start into the cause of a house fire in crews were called to a fire in a semi-detached house in Fairfax Road, Normanton, at 16:43 BST on fire crews from Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire were sent to the Fire and Rescue Service said everyone in the property was accounted for and an investigation would start "in due course". Crews left the scene at 22:40 but returned on Thursday morning after reports of smoke coming from the property. Firefighters remained in Fairfax Road damping down the scene, a spokesperson said. A number of homes were evacuated "as a precautionary measure" while firefighting operations took place, a Derbyshire Police spokesperson said on Wednesday. Fairfax Road, part of Lower Dale Road at the junction of Almond Street, and St Chads Road to Stone Hill Road were shut while the fire was dealt with.

Man injured in suspected gas explosion at house

The street backs on to a Lidl supermarket, from where shoppers reported hearing the explosion. The incident's just a kilometre from Rolls-Royce's Raynesway site, home to its submarines division. Police say London Road, also known as the A6, is closed which is the main road from Alvaston into the centre of Derby.
