Former Yankees Legend Derek Jeter Reveals Cubs/Yankees World Series Pick

Former Yankees Legend Derek Jeter Reveals Cubs/Yankees World Series Pick originally appeared on Athlon Sports. With the 2025 MLB All-Star Game taking place Tuesday evening at Truist Park in Atlanta, all the stars were on display. After the game, former MLB stars and current FOX Sports broadcasters David Ortiz, Alex Rodriguez, and Derek Jeter gave their picks for the 2025 World Series. Jeter was the first to give his prediction. Last year, Jeter chose the Baltimore Orioles to represent the American League in the World Series because they had a lot of pieces in their farm system to make trades with at the deadline. The former New York Yankees' legendary shortstop used the same strategy when picking his AL representative this year, but the representative from the National League might surprise you. "So this year, I am going with the New York Yankees. Brian Cashman. Yankees are going to beat the Cubs in the World Series," Jeter said. "I'm going with the Yankees because Cashman basically said he's all in. So, I expect the Yankees to do something at the trade deadline." Jeter believes his former team will make it back to the Fall Classic for the second consecutive season, but this time against a new opponent. The Yankees fell in five games to the Los Angeles Dodgers in the 2024 World Series. This year, Jeter believes the Cubs will make it over the favored Dodgers. The Cubs currently sit as the second-best team in the National League, just a half game back from the Dodgers, and lead their division by a single game over the Milwaukee Brewers. The Yankees, despite leading their division for most of the first half of the season, are currently fourth in the American League and second in their division behind the Toronto Blue Jays. Both teams figure to be very busy at the MLB trade deadline, as the Cubs will look to hold off the Brewers in the second half, and the Yankees will look to pass the Blue Jays en route to a postseason run. Alex Rodriguez Predicts Winner of 2025 World Series Without Hesitation

Alex Rodriguez Predicts Winner of 2025 World Series Without Hesitation originally appeared on Athlon Sports. With the MLB All-Star Game wrapping up Wednesday night at Truist Park in Atlanta, it didn't take long for the Fox Sports crew—featuring baseball legends Derek Jeter, David Ortiz, and Alex Rodriguez—to offer their 2025 World Series predictions. Advertisement The second half of the season resumes Friday, and while both leagues feature clear front-runners—the Los Angeles Dodgers in the National League and the Detroit Tigers in the American League—the race remains wide open for which teams will make the biggest impact come October and November. Jeter kicked things off by picking his former team, the New York Yankees, to defeat the Chicago Cubs. Ortiz followed by backing his longtime club, the Boston Red Sox. Naturally, Rodriguez kept things interesting by siding with the Yankees as well, predicting they would beat the defending champion Dodgers to capture their 28th title in franchise history. 'Whatever GM, there's going to be a competition of the best front office that makes the boldest moves at the trade deadline,' Rodriguez said. 'And I'm going with the most resources—Yankees and Dodgers. All eyes will be on Brian Cashman to finally get over the L.A. Dodgers in October.' Advertisement Right now, the hottest team in baseball is the Boston Red Sox, riding a 10-game win streak. Despite their surge, they still sit third in the AL East, trailing the New York Yankees in second and the Toronto Blue Jays, who are narrowly holding on to first place. At the All-Star break, the current American League playoff picture features the Tigers, Astros, and Blue Jays as division leaders. The wild card spots are held by the Yankees, Red Sox, and Mariners. In the National League, the Dodgers, Cubs, and Phillies lead their respective divisions, with the Brewers, Mets, and Padres currently occupying the wild card positions. Derek Jeter Picks World Series Winner Without Hesitation

Derek Jeter Picks World Series Winner Without Hesitation originally appeared on Athlon Sports. The first half of the 2025 MLB regular season is now in everyone's rearview mirror, and it will soon be back to work for all 30 teams in the big leagues, with the MLB All-Star break concluding on Tuesday night. Advertisement Ahead of the second half of the season, former New York Yankees superstar shortstop Derek Jeter dropped his World Series prediction, which he shared after the National League defeated the American League in the Midsummer Classic at Truist Park in Atlanta. "So this year I am going with the New York Yankees," Jeter said while doing his broadcasting duties for Fox Sports. Aaron Judge (99) of the New York Yankees looks on during the 2025 MLB All-Star Davis-Imagn Images Known as "The Captain," Jeter also picked the Chicago Cubs to represent the NL in the Fall Classic while seemingly adding some pressure on the shoulders of New York general manager Brian Cashman ahead of the July 31 trade deadline. Advertisement "[The] Yankees are gonna beat the [Chicago] Cubs in the World Series. Going with the Yankees because [Brian] Cashman basically said he's all in, so I expect the Yankees to do something at the trade deadline." The Yankees could use a boost via a trade, as they have seen the Toronto Blue Jays overtake them for the top spot in the AL East. New York entered the All-Star break just second in the division standings with a 53-43 record, trailing the 55-41 Blue Jays by two games. That is not to mention the red-hot Boston Red Sox, who are on a 10-game win streak and are just three games out of first place in the AL East. Aaron Judge and the Yankees went all the way to the World Series in 2024 but got dominated by the Los Angeles Dodgers in five games.
