Destiny Rising game to release on Android and iOS in August: What to expect

The Destiny franchise is set to release its first smartphone game and a sci-fi RPG shooter spinoff for both Android and iOS users next month. Chinese developer NetEase Games revealed the launch date of the upcoming game while unveiling a new gameplay trailer that highlights upcoming missions, strikes, PvP combat, and PvE elements players will get to experience. Titled 'Destiny: Rising,' the game was first announced back in October last year, and it is scheduled for release on August 28, 2025. Notably, the developer of this game, NetEase Games, has also been behind the development of other games like Marvel Rivals and Diablo Immortal. Destiny Rising: Availability and pre-order benefits Destiny: Rising is available for pre-order on the Apple App Store and Google Play Store for free. The game will release on both platforms on August 28, 2025. According to NetEase, ahead of the release of the game, Destiny: Rising is hosting a pre-registration event that offers special launch bonuses to those who sign up early. As pre-registration crosses player milestones, more rewards are unlocked. Having already surpassed 5 million sign-ups, players are now set to receive 10 free draws at launch. Destiny Rising: What to expect Destiny: Rising takes place in an alternate timeline prior to the original game's events, making it accessible to newcomers without having prior knowledge of Destiny and Destiny 2. Players can create a fully customisable Lightbearer named Wolf or play as familiar characters like Ikora Rey and Iron Lord Jolder. The game includes solo, co-op, and competitive multiplayer modes, along with features like customisable Primary and Power Weapons, cross-character weapon sharing, a new weapon type, and a Mythic-tier gear rarity. Destiny: Storyline Destiny is a science-fiction action game franchise developed by Bungie, and now the spinoff to it Destiny: Rising is being developed by NetEase Games. Destiny blends first-person shooter gameplay with role-playing and MMO elements. Set in a post-apocalyptic future, players take on the role of Guardians, defenders of Earth's last safe city, wielding powerful weapons and abilities granted by a mysterious force called the Light. The game features lore, cooperative multiplayer modes, competitive PvP arenas, and frequent expansions that introduce new storylines, gear, and challenges. It originally launched in 2014 and has grown into a long-running live-service game. There are mainly two games in this franchise so far, Destiny and Destiny 1, with a number of downloadable content (DLC) being released over the years. ALSO READ:

Destiny's mobile spinoff will arrive in August

Destiny: Rising, the mobile-exclusive sci-fi RPG shooter set in Bungie's Destiny universe, will be released for iOS and Android on August 28th. The launch date was announced by Chinese developer NetEase Games alongside the release of a new gameplay trailer that shows off some of the missions, strikes, PvP battles, and PvE features that players can expect to encounter. The game was announced in October last year, spawning from the $100 million Bungie investment that NetEase (the developer behind Marvel Rivals and Diablo Immortal) made in 2018. NetEase says that Destiny: Rising is 'set in an alternate timeline before the events of the original game,' allowing players who are new to the franchise to jump in without needing to experience previous Destiny titles. Players can choose to take on the role of a 'fully customisable' Lightbearer named Wolf, or play as established Destiny characters like Ikora Rey and Iron Lord Jolder. Game features include single, co-op, and competitive multiplayer modes, customisable Primary and Power Weapons, the ability to share weapons across character arsenals, and a new weapon type and 'Mythic' rarity gear tier. The Destiny: Rising release date announcement follows a limited-access playtest that was launched in November, with preorders for the game now available on Google Play and the App Store. NetEase is also holding a pre-launch event that allows players to register to receive special in-game bonuses, with more rewards being unlocked when registration milestones are crossed.

Destiny Rising's Closed Beta Date Info Coming, New Trailer Drops

Destiny Rising It hasn't exactly been sweetness and roses over at Bungie lately, mainly in the Marathon department, but the future of Destiny will soon be discovered in July as its new 'Frontiers' era launches. But it's been easy to forget another Destiny project is launching, NetEase's Destiny Rising, a mobile game that creates a 'non canon' story set many years before the events of the main game as players battle threats. Now, the reveal of the next major test is set to be announced tomorrow, May 21, according to a community manager posting on Discord (via The Game Post): There is also a new trailer that's been released for the game: While players were obviously skeptical of a NetEase-made mobile game, feedback from the last closed test was surprisingly positive among the community in terms of how it plays, and there are some aspects that players wish were in Destiny itself. That includes things like cool new supers, a crossbow weapon class and now, apparently the ability to dual-wield guns. These things do not exist in the mainline series. Comments on the new trailer are mostly about how it looks better than Destiny 2 (I'd say that's an exaggeration, but it certainly looks solid, and I did enjoy playing it). FEATURED | Frase ByForbes™ Unscramble The Anagram To Reveal The Phrase Pinpoint By Linkedin Guess The Category Queens By Linkedin Crown Each Region Crossclimb By Linkedin Unlock A Trivia Ladder I do wonder how community sentiment may or may not change once the full gacha aspects of the game start playing out, as there was only a brief preview of that in the test. It's just normal gacha stuff, hero classes that can be extremely rare drops and you'll want to upgrade them with even more drops. And all of this can be very, very costly and certainly akin to gambling. It's a little unfortunate this is yet another closed test, implying the full release of the game may be a while away yet. I know there are also requests for a desktop client version of the game, lower-spec visuals or not, so players don't have to be hunched over their phones with controllers to play. No word on that. When this was first announced, NetEase seemed like a net negative, having made games like Diablo Immortal. Now? NetEase is the company behind the wildly successful and hugely praised Marvel Rivals, so that narrative has changed. And it seems like they're on track to make a good Destiny game after all.
