Two students killed, three injured in late night car accident
Indore: Two engineering students were killed and three others seriously injured after their four-wheeler lost control and rammed into a divider before overturning by the roadside in Tejaji Nagar late on Monday night. All the victims were friends who were out for a drive when the accident took place. All five students were residents of Dhapla village near Maheshwar and were staying in Indore for their studies. Tejaji Nagar police station in-charge Devendra Markam said that it seems the car involved in the crash was being driven at high speed when it went out of control, hit the divider near the bridge, and overturned. "It is, however, not clear how it happened as no other vehicle was seen nearby. We are checking the CCTV footage of the highway and the dhabas nearby to ascertain what happened," said Markam. He said that the deceased were identified as Dheeraj Patidar, 20, son of Kishore Patidar, a resident of Dhapla village, and Dhruv Patidar, son of Daluram Patidar from Dhargav, Mandleshwar. Both were pursuing BTech from an engineering college in Indore and were living in a rented flat in Radio Colony. The injured students have been identified as Hemant Patidar, Aditya, and Yashraj. Hemant is pursuing a BSc. All three were rushed to different hospitals for treatment. Markam said that after receiving information, they rushed to the spot but found the bodies of both students inside. "The others were not there. Maybe they were rushed to the hospital by some passersby. The family members have refused to give a statement currently," he said. Initial police investigation revealed that Dheeraj brought the car. The group of friends went out for a late-night drive around the city when the accident took place. Upon receiving information, the police reached the spot and arranged for ambulances to transport the injured to hospitals. The families of the deceased and injured students in Mandleshwar have been informed. CCTV footage from the area is being reviewed to ascertain the exact cause of the crash.
