7 Baltimore Ravens on the roster bubble entering training camp

With the report date just five days away, we're looking at seven big-named Ravens who are squarely on the roster bubble. The Ravens have a dominant roster, with ten players landing in the top ten rankings from ESPN's positional poll. Baltimore has few holes on the roster, and even less opportunity for an under-the-radar or veteran player to steal a job or cause a surprise cut. In five days, the entire team will return to the Under Armour Performance Center motivated after an offseason of slights and trash talk from looming opponents. With the report date just five days away, we're looking at seven big-named Ravens who are squarely on the roster bubble. QB --Devin Leary Baltimore didn't select a quarterback in the NFL draft and signed no signal callers in the undrafted free agent class. The Ravens have an MVP as QB1 and a solid backup in Cooper Rush. Baltimore did select a quarterback in last year's NFL Draft, Devin Leary, out of Kentucky in the sixth round, but it didn't work out too well. Leary was cut in the preseason and then signed to the practice squad. If the Ravens carry two quarterbacks on the roster, Leary could be released and signed to the practice squad again. RB Rasheen Ali Baltimore didn't draft a running back and only has four players on the roster at the position. Henry is an All-Pro, Justice Hill is a solid No. 2 running back, and Keaton Mitchell provides a home run threat. Ali needs a strong training camp to warrant the Ravens carrying three running backs. WR Malik Cunningham Baltimore has ten wide receivers on the roster after selecting Colorado's LaJohntay Wester in Round 6. Cunningham is the only player in the position who is not a natural wide receiver but offers special-teams abilities. Cunningham needs an intense training camp to warrant a roster spot over Dayton Wade, Anthony Miller, and Keith Kirkwood. TE Zaire Mitchell-Paden Baltimore has a big three at the tight end position, and two of the top players in the league. Charlie Kolar is the clear No. 3, making things difficult for Mitchell-Paden. DT-C.J. Okoye Okoye, a Nigerian native, first joined the Chargers as part of the International Player Pathway Program. He had a sack in his first organized football game in the preseason. He'll compete in a position group that includes Nnamdi Madubuike, Travis Jones, John Jenkins, and Jayson Jones. OLB David Ojabo A former second-round pick entering the final year of his rookie deal, Ojabo will battle Adisa Isaac, Tavius Robinson, and rookie Mike Green for snaps. Things can only go up for Ojabo after he played in 13 games last season. He has four sacks in his first three seasons, and it's now or never for the former Michigan pass rusher. OL Ben Cleveland Cleveland saw action in all 17 regular-season games as a backup at left guard, plus both playoff contests. The 2021 third-round pick finished the final year of his rookie deal and had no major suitors on the open market. Baltimore added three players to the NFL draft and has solid depth in key positions. Cleveland could be the odd man out if Emery Jones, Carson Vinson, or Garrett Dellinger established themselves at the offensive guard position.

Ravens training camp: 10 players who need to have a strong 2025 preseason

There are several positions with competitions scheduled, and we're taking an early look at 10 players who need to have a strong 2025 preseason. Baltimore is loaded on the offensive side of the football, and GM Eric DeCosta knowingly chose to restock the defense with the organization's first two NFL draft picks. OL Ben Cleveland The Baltimore Ravens retained one of their key free agents, re-signing Ben Cleveland. Cleveland saw action in all 17 regular-season games as a backup at left guard, plus both playoff contests. The 2021 third-round pick finished the final year of his rookie deal and had no major suitors on the open market. Baltimore added three players to the NFL draft and has solid depth in key positions. He'll compete in a position group that includes Nnamdi Madubuike, Travis Jones, John Jenkins, and Jayson Jones. DE-Adedayo Odeleye The 6'5″, 265-pound Nigerian-born prospect was part of the 2022 NFL International Player Pathway program with the Texans before spending this season on the Baltimore practice squad. Nicknamed "Dayo," he began playing American football at Loughborough University in the United Kingdom. Edge Rusher -- David Ojabo Kyle Van Noy and Odafe Oweh are the unquestioned starters, but the Ravens are hoping second-round pick Mike Green can assume a role from Day 1. Ojabo will battle Adisa Isaac, Tavius Robinson, and rookie Mike Green for snaps. Things can only go up for Ojabo after he played in 13 games last season. He has four sacks in his first three seasons, and it's now or never for the former Michigan pass rusher. OLB Adisa Isaac A 2024 third-round pick, Adisa Isaac saw action in four games and played 32 defensive snaps, as his NFL debut was delayed by a hamstring issue, which sidelined him for the Ravens' first two games. LB Trenton Simpson With Malik Harrison and Chris Board departing in free agency, John Harbaugh confirmed that Trenton Simpson would be first up in the battle at linebacker. Simpson was productive over Baltimore's first 11 games, logging 65 tackles (34 solo), but he was a liability in the passing game. Simpson was entirely out of the Ravens' inside-linebacker rotation following the Week 14 bye, and he was limited to special teams during Baltimore's two-game postseason run. Simpson finished the 2024 regular season with 73 tackles (40 solo), including 1.5 sacks, four pass defenses, and one fumble recovery across 17 games. He'll battle special-teams standout Jacob Hummel and fourth-round pick Teddye Buchanan. CB-Jalyn Armour-Davis Armour-Davis is entering a crucial time in his career. With the Ravens' cornerback position stacked with young talent, the former Alabama defensive back is getting reps at safety. Before the NFL draft and free agency, Baltimore had four cornerbacks on the roster. Since then, the Ravens have added Chidobe Awuzie, Bilal Kone (rookie), and Robert Longerbeam (rookie). T.J. Tampa is in a similar boat after missing most of his rookie season to various injuries. Armour-Davis will enter year four needing a strong training camp.

1 player on the Ravens roster bubble at each offensive position after the 2025 NFL draft We're examining one player on the Ravens roster bubble at each offensive position following the 2025 NFL draft Baltimore is loaded on the offensive side of the football, and GM Eric DeCosta knowingly chose to restock the defense with the organization's first two NFL draft picks. Should the Ravens consider drafting a quarterback in the middle rounds?

The Baltimore Ravens did select a quarterback in last year's NFL Draft, Devin Leary, out of Kentucky in the sixth round, but it didn't work out too well. Leary was cut in the preseason and then signed to the practice squad. He did not see any action in the 2024 season, and last month, he was signed to a reserve/future contract. As of now, he is not the Ravens' third-string quarterback, as they do not have one. Their second string is Josh Johnson, who is 38 and has only made five pass attempts since 2021. In other words, the Ravens should be looking at depth behind Lamar Jackson in both free agency and the draft this offseason. They won't take a QB in the first round, and it's doubtful they'll grab one in rounds two or three. However, here are some names for them to consider in rounds four through seven. Dillon Gabriel, Oregon His stock is lower simply because of his size. Gabriel put up Heisman-worthy numbers in the Pacific Northwest, but pro scouts regard him as too short. Well, Doug Flutie overcame that issue and had a solid career. Drew Brees wasn't a shrimp or anything, but he's far below the prototypical height you want in an NFL quarterback. He went on to have a career that ranks among the elitists of the elite. Maybe Gabriel will be the next to follow this pattern. Taylor Elgersma, Laurier Elgersma is not just an intriguing quarterback but a historical one. He could become the first player from a Canadian college to be selected in the NFL Draft. He's already become the first player from a Canadian school to play in the Senior Bowl, where he was most impressive. 'I have a ton of confidence, but these players I am going against here are truly the best in the nation,' Elgersma said in an exclusive with RG. 'The top guys in this NFL Draft class, so obviously, I have to step up from what I'm used to. We've got some studs out there in Canada too, but this is definitely a step up for sure.' It will be interesting to see if he translates his game from the Canadian gridiron to the American version. Will Howard, Ohio State A solid height/weight/speed guy who just won a natty, it's puzzling why his stock isn't higher right now. For some mysterious reason, he's not really regarded as all that elite, but his measurables, stats, and track record of winning all check out. And for what it's worth, his stock seems to be rising right now, so if Baltimore wants him, they might have to spend their third or one of their fourths on him. You know the painfully tedious draft cliche 'day one starter?' Well, Howard looks the part of a day one-second string. Quinn Ewers, Texas Making the right call by declaring now because you have to sell when your stock is at its highest price. After all, as the soda pop commercials have shown us, he's the Deputy of Fansville! Ewers leaves school with a CV that shows some inconsistency, as he didn't truly show up in some of the biggest games. However, he was also likely not going to accomplish anything beyond what he already did in school, so the time was right. Plus he has all the talent in the world to impress scouts and GMs during the process.
