Mahadev" and films such as "Shiddat" and "Uri: The Surgical Strike", says he was eager to break out of good guy roles and that's when "Kankhajura" came his way. Raina essays the antagonist Max in the SonyLIV series, directed by Chandan Arora. It also stars Roshan Mathew. "I was deliberately not taking up anything else because I wanted to experiment. And that's the time when this opportunity came to me and I just grabbed it. I really didn't have to think even for once whether I should do it or not. So everything fell in place for me because I was looking for something that has different shades," the actor told PTI in an interview. Asked if playing a negative role came with any challenges, Raina said it was just like any other project. "But yes, it requires some kind of homework and preparation. A little more than what you would usually do because that's something that you are playing for the first time. I don't have a habit of watching the monitor while working. "Comedy is something that I really want to do right now. So, I think comedy is something that I want to do," he said. "I think Roshan is one of the most secure actors that I have met in my life. Usually, a two-character thing can become a little tricky to play with. I have followed his work earlier, 'Parasite' and other series and other movies, a couple of them in Malayalam also. I think he was a fantastic actor," he said. Following years of television and films, Raina made his OTT debut in 2019 with the drama series "Bhaukaal". The actor said the transition to streaming space was smooth. "I think I was fortunate enough that the makers were ready to work with me and they wanted to work with me. They had trust and faith. It was a very smooth transition and a very smooth platform for me."

Nitesh Tiwari is pulling off the biggest casting coup for his upcoming film, Ramayana, starring Ranbir Kapoor. The film already has a stellar star cast with big names like Yash, Sai Pallavi and Sunny Deol. Now, recent reports claim that Mohit Raina will reprise his role as Mahadev Shiva in the film. Mohit Raina is best known for playing Lord Shiva on television for several years. As per portals like India Forums, Mohit Raina is currently in talks to play Lord Shiva in Ranbir Kapoor's Ramayana. Reportedly, their negotiation is in advanced stages. However, it is important to note that there is no confirmation on this yet. Mohit Raina's portrayal of Lord Shiva in the television series Devon Ke Dev…Mahadev (2011–2014) remains one of the most iconic performances in Indian television history. His calm yet powerful presence, dignified demeanour, and strong screen presence brought depth and authenticity to the role of Mahadev. Meanwhile, Nitesh Tiwari's Ramayana already stars Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Ram and Sai Pallavi as Sita. While Yash plays the antagonist, Raavan, Sunny Deol will reportedly be seen as Lord Hanuman. The film will also feature Lara Dutta as Kaikeyi and Sheeba Chaddha as Manthara. Ravi Dubey will be seen as Lakshman, and Arun Govil will play King Dasharatha. Kunal Kapoor, who will play Lord Indra in the film, exclusively told News18 Showsha earlier, 'This is a very important film in our cultural history. It's a really important part of our cultural ethos. I think it's important that you have filmmakers and people to give it the kind of scale it needs. This is mounted at a scale that we've never seen before." He explained, 'It is going to be something very special that deserves the kind of movie that the story should have. I am very excited about it. I think the audience is going to be surprised by what they see." As for the film's release, Ranbir Kapoor and Nitesh Tiwari have locked Diwali 2026 and Diwali 2027 for Ramayana Part 1 and Ramayana Part 2, respectively.
