Siddhant Chaturvedi Grooves To Preet Re Ahead Of Dhadak 2's Release
Dhadak 2 is a spiritual sequel to the 2018 film Dhadak and a remake of the Tamil film Pariyerum Perumal. Following the soul-stirring first song, Bas Ek Dhadak, Dhadak 2 makers released their second track, Preet Re. The song, which features Siddhant Chaturvedi and Triptii Dimri, steers away from spectacle and instead focuses on the simplicity of young love. Ahead of the film's theatrical release, Siddhant Chaturvedi entertained fans with a dance video with the latest song, Preet Re. While fans were also in love with the melodious tune, the actor has now got them grooving. In the clip, Siddhant Chaturvedi is seen dancing effortlessly to the beats of the song and in the caption, he wrote, '#PreetRe- here's me Grooving to one of my favourite tracks from the #Dhadak2 with my boys Neeraj Yadav Neeraj Lama. Preet Re gives the audience a glimpse into the early phases of romance between Siddhant and Triptii's characters in Dhadak 2. In the music video, Siddhant and Triptii appear to be college students who gradually fall in love. The song video depicts daily love encounters in a joyful and light-hearted manner, mirroring relatable feelings of affection and new romance. Dhadak 2, produced by Dharma Productions, Zee Studios, and Cloud 9 Pictures, is a spiritual sequel to the 2018 film Dhadak and a remake of the Tamil film Pariyerum Perumal. Speaking about his role in the film during the trailer launch, Siddhant said, 'As an actor, I feel truly fortunate that Karan sir had faith in me and chose me to portray a small-town character. Until now, most of the films I've done have been urban-centric, and since I come from a small town, Ballia, I was missing that kind of small-town story." The film delves into themes of caste inequality, societal limitations, and prejudice. Dhadak 2 is set to hit theatres on August 1, 2025, competing with Ajay Devgn's Son of Sardaar 2. 'Watching Me, Smiling...': Boney Kapoor Shares Sridevi's Photo From Before Their Marriage
Last Updated: Boney Kapoor married Sridevi in June 1996. However, the latter passed away in February 2018. Boney Kapoor often remembers his late wife, actress Sridevi, via his Instagram posts. On Wednesday too, the film producer took to his Instagram handle and shared a throwback picture of his late wife from before they got married. In the monochrome photo, Sridevi was seen resting her head on the back of a chair and looking at the camera with a beautiful smile. The filmmaker was talking about his physical transformation journey when he recalled how Sridevi always wanted him to lose some weight. 'The seeds were sown by my wife. She was always after me to lose weight. She was a health-conscious person herself. I used to go for a walk with her. I used to go to the gym with her," he told us. 'She (Sridevi) was very clear on when she wants to eat, what she wants to eat. I tried my best to do that but I couldn't. For the past two years, post TJMM, when I saw myself, I felt I should…and my kids also wanted me to look sharper, leaner, and better. Of course, health-wise also I needed to. I'm 69 today so I'm not getting any younger," he added. 'I feel Sri is still around me, my wife is still around me and motivating me to lose weight. 'Lose weight', she said. Aamir Khan's production house shared a congratulatory note praising debutants' performance. Taking to their Instagram stories, Aamir Khan Productions shared the congratulatory note and praised the team. 'Congratulations to the entire team of Saiyaara on its remarkable theatrical success! In fact, Saiyaara also emerged as the highest opening day earner for a romantic film in recent years, surpassing Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani (Rs 11.1 crore), Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya (Rs 6.7 crore), Tu Jhoothi Main Makkar (Rs 15.73 crore), and Kabir Singh (Rs 20.21 crore). Remarkably, the film achieved all this with just 8,000 screenings across India, less than half the usual count for films of this scale. Despite the limited show count, many theatres reported houseful shows in major cities. Globally, Saiyaara raked in $11.9 million over its opening weekend, placing it at number 9 on the global box office chart, per Comscore. The Indian weekend gross was $6.6 million, with the final tally expected to go higher. On the work front, Aamir's Sitaare Zameen Par minted around Rs 165 crore Net in India after a month of its release. Directed by RS Prasanna, the film also featured Genelia D'Souza in the lead. The film follows the story of Gulshan Arora, a suspended basketball coach who, as part of his community service, is assigned to train a team of neurodivergent adults. Initially, Gulshan is reluctant, but through his interactions with the team, he learns empathy and discovers a new perspective on life. Saiyaara strikes a chord with GenZ, likely to gross ₹200-300 crore
Exceeding industry expectations, Mohit Suri-directed Saiyaara, featuring debutants Ahaan Panday and Aneet Padda, has found an audience with the Gen Z with its compelling love story and musical tracks, pushing its global box office numbers over ₹100 crore in the first few days of its release. The romantic drama from the Yash Raj Films banner revolves around Krish Kapoor (Panday), a struggling musician, and a young writer (Padda) diagnosed with early-stage Alzheimer's disease. The movie explores the feelings of love and loss through the relationship between its lead characters. Saiyaara has already broken records for a movie led by debutants, by entering into the ₹100-crore club in its first weekend. Film trade analyst Girish Wankhede expects Saiyaara to be the fastest film to reach the ₹200 crore-mark. Bhuvanesh Mendiratta, managing director, Miraj Entertainment, believes that the film has the potential to touch ₹300 crore in its full run. Cinepolis India anticipates the film to collect an additional ₹60 to ₹70 crore in its second weekend. Earlier, such excitement and momentum for films with new actors was seen in Dhadak, Aashiqui 2, and Kaho Naa... Pyaar Hai. PVR INOX, India's largest cinema exhibitor, said that the movie recorded over 15 lakh admissions in three days (opening weekend), with 77 per cent occupancy on Sunday. For Miraj Cinemas, the film saw a footfall of about 2.5 lakh people across its properties, with occupancy averaging slightly over 60 per cent for the opening weekend. Meanwhile, BookMyShow sold over 3.5 million tickets on its platform for the opening weekend, making it one of the fastest-selling movies in recent months. This reassures the industry that with the right content, theatrical business can shine and bring audiences back to theatres, said officials of the country's leading theatre chains. 'We increased the shows and added night shows to accommodate the high demand for Saiyaara. The film worked very well in the Hindi belt, including Delhi, Jaipur, Bhopal, Patna, and Lucknow (driving the demand),' said Devang Sampat, managing director, Cinepolis India. 'Saiyaara is expected to cross a footfall of one million in its first week, which underlines its strong resonance with audiences.' Mendiratta added that the film has performed especially well in North India, with cities like Jaipur, Ludhiana, Lucknow, and Patiala reporting houseful shows. The film also has a strong connection with the age group between 15 to 30 years. He said that the younger audience is showing up in large numbers, with many coming in for repeat viewings, reflecting on the film's emotional impact. 'The film's early success reaffirms the audience's growing appetite for emotionally rich storytelling, especially when paired with fresh, relatable talent,' said Ashish Saksena, chief operating officer (COO), BookMyShow. 'Ahaan Panday and Aneet Padda have captured the relevance to and imagination of Gen Z and millennial viewers, marking a strong debut, with the film's soulful music and heartfelt narrative driving strong engagement pan-India. Cities like Delhi-NCR, Mumbai and Pune are leading ticket sales, followed closely by Bengaluru, Hyderabad and Kolkata. Saiyaara is on the way to become one of the biggest opening weekend performers this year on the platform, second only to Chaava,' Gautam Dutta, chief executive officer (CEO), revenue and operations, PVR INOX, said that the phenomenal response to Saiyaara is a strong testament to the film's emotional connect and the power of theatrical storytelling. 'What's especially exciting is the way it's striking a chord with Gen Z audiences, particularly in metros like Mumbai, Delhi-NCR, Bengaluru, and Pune, where youth numbers were significantly above average. Saiyaara has also become a record-breaker, becoming the first film led entirely by debutant actors to enter the ₹100-crore club within its opening weekend,' Dutta added. Kunal Sawhney, COO, Moviemax Cinemas, said that the film has seen a steady demand on weekdays, and expects similar footfall in the upcoming weekend. Similar to Miraj Cinemas, its properties across Lucknow, Ghaziabad, Pune, and Noida have significantly contributed to its overall performance. 'The momentum has been so strong that it has already impacted the release slate. Son of Sardar 2 has reportedly postponed its release due to Saiyaara's continued performance, and I believe that decision is directly linked to how well Saiyaara is holding ground. With major releases lined up in the coming weeks, it's rare to see a film maintain such a strong hold, but Saiyaara seems poised to run well into the release of big-ticket films like War 2,' said Mendiratta. Wankhede explained that with the audience being overexposed to crime and thriller genres, Saiyaara fills the gap with its romantic and emotional theme. At the same time, the movie did not have any major competition with other releases on July 18. He also noted that the actors' minimal exposure in terms of promoting the movie created curiosity, with all its music tracks being a hit with the audiences prior to the film's release.
