Restaurants to try in Dubai this week
The heat may be relentless but so is Dubai's dining scene. This week's list is all about flavour, flair and a little bit of fun. From French seafood with Provençal polish to wagyu paired with wine that deserves a standing ovation. Whether you're after a beachside brunch, a pool party with bottomless everything or a dinner that feels like a holiday, here's where to eat this week Lobster Night at Café L'Occitane Just because you couldn't make it to the South of France this summer, doesn't mean you can't experience French flair at it's finest. Imagine a lobster beignet in one hand and and a glass of French fantasy in the other as the smell of lavender hangs in the air. Except, instead of being in a sun-drenched courtyard in Provence, you're in Dubai. The south of France lands in City Walk with Café L'Occitane's new Lobster Night. This four-course seafood showcase leans into Provençal charm with finesse and flavour. The beignet comes first, light and crispy, with a punchy basil and lime aioli. Then a crab and lobster cake alongside a fresh tomato relish. The main plate is a lobster tail dressed in garlic butter with mashed potatoes on the side. Dessert is a strawberry shortcake topped with lemon verbena Chantilly and basil sorbet, elegant without being overdone. Spartan Middle East to bring region's first City race to Etihad Arena
One of the most intense and gruelling obstacle races in the region is moving indoors later this summer. Spartan Middle East, which organised the epic Trifecta and Dawn 'til Dusk races in Dubai earlier this year, is heading to the UAE capital for another fun-filled challenge. A unique format will see participants take on a 3km course featuring 15 signature Spartan obstacles at Etihad Arena in Abu Dhabi. Set to take place on Saturday September 20, the race has been designed with speed, intensity and accessibility in mind. The event will be held in a climate-controlled, indoor environment and include a small outdoor segment. Indoor 'City' courses have been designed for speed, intensity and accessibility. (Credit: Spartan Middle East) Younger athletes will also have the chance to compete with three dedicated races for the little ones. A 1km course will be available for kids aged between four and six, a 1.5km for ages seven to nine and a 3km course for ages nine to 14. Everyone who completes the race will walk away with a well-earned Spartan t-shirt and medal, along with a banana to refuel at the finish line. Previous Spartan events this year have featured more than 5,500 people attending the most recent race at Bab Al Shams, while more than 6,000 people were at January's Trifecta weekend at Dubai Parks and Resorts. (Credit: Spartan Middle East) And now the intense race moves down to the UAE capital, with the support of the Abu Dhabi Sports Council. Abu Dhabi hosts the annual Spartan World Championship, which is set to return in November, and fans of that event can get some indoor practice ahead of time. Anyone interested in taking part can register here to secure their place at what promises to be another tough but rewarding race.
