Court orders company to pay a former employee Dhs280,000 in compensation

The Abu Dhabi Labor Court-First Instance has ruled that a company be obligated to pay Dhs280,156 in compensation to one of its employees. The latter had worked for the company for approximately 25 years. However, there was a delay in the payment of the monthly wages, and the end-of-service gratuity was also unpaid despite the termination of the employee's contract. Specifically, an employee initiated legal proceedings against his employer requesting that the court order the defendant to pay him the following sums: the outstanding balance of his wages, expenses incurred in the course of the legal action, and the costs of the enforcement process. The employee initiated legal proceedings on the basis of his claim that he had been in the employ of the company for a period of approximately 25 years, receiving a monthly basic salary of Dhs7,000, and the full salary is Dhs14,000. The employee demanded an end-of-service gratuity of Dhs165,667 and back salaries of Dhs205,900. The Court determined that the case documentation did not contain any evidence to suggest that the company was not liable for the requested wages, thereby affirming the employee's right to receive the delayed wages amounting to Dhs212,433. Following the acknowledgement by the employee of payment amounting to Dhs91,411, subsequent to the deduction of the aforementioned amount, the employee would be left with a remaining balance of Dhs121,022. In view of the fact that the individual in question specified his request at Dhs114,489, the court was obliged to rule on this amount. The Court further explained that Article 51 of the Labor Law stipulates that an employee who has completed one year of continuous service with their employer is entitled, upon the end of their service, to a gratuity. The amount of this gratuity is determined in accordance with the standards and cases stipulated in the aforementioned article. Given the aforementioned facts, and in consideration of the employee's 25-year and two-month tenure with the company, the employee is eligible to receive a compensation amounting to Dhs165,667.

Designed by Hong Kong-born, Netherlands-raised artist Kasing Lung, Labubu is one of the standout members of The Monsters, a twisted Nordic fairytale-inspired universe that's found a cult following in Asia and beyond. Deliveroo has now launched the viral sensation right to your home in Abu Dhabi, meaning no more queuing, camping out online, or wrestling for a drop at a mall pop-up. These shaggy little icons are now just a few taps away. And for the true collectors (or those chasing the TikTok clout), limited-edition Labubu blind boxes will be released every day at 4pm exclusively on Deliveroo, priced from Dhs280. Here's how to get a labubu at home in Abu Dhabi

Click, click, boom… In case you haven't tuned in to News Hour in the UAE yet, here's what's got everyone talking: Labubus. 'La-what?', you ask. Well, these adorable new dolls with disturbingly cute smiles have taken the internet, social media, news headlines, BlackBerry broadcasts, telegrams and fax machines by storm – so to answer the question that's on your mind: here's how you can get them. Images: supplied The details The UAE's winning quick-commerce app, Deliveroo, will handle all the hassle, so you don't have to waste any time queued-up, pushing your way through, or crowding at stores (or e-stores) to get your hands on one of these trending little collectors' items. The furry little fellows will now be dropped off by your friendly neighbourhood Deliveroo rider beginning today, May 26. If you're really in on the craze and going the collector route, there's more news: limited labubu blind boxes will drop daily at 4pm on Deliveroo, priced from Dhs280. A little context The labubu love spread via social media earlier this month, and here's what we know: it's a creation of Hong Kong-born, Netherlands-raised illustrator Kasing Lung, who created the character as part of a cast in The Monsters , a Nordic fairytale series. Throw in an ounce of exclusivity via the marketing team, and ding-ding-ding, we have a winner. If you're as old as we are, you'll remember the tamagotchis – yep, the 'virtual pets' that took the world by storm around Y2K – as well as the furby dolls that became a huge global craze shortly after. So, if you see one of these fresh faces with their upto-no-good grins hanging off a co-worker's bag, grinning at you on the metro, or serving your lunch (okay that last one's a stretch), it's okay to be startled, but fret not – it's only a harmless little labubu, now available on Deliveroo.
