My hero stood taller and stronger than any man I've ever met. My hero understood me better than anyone. My Hero is the coolest, most badass human being I know.' He concluded: 'Not only was my hero a famous tough guy movie star, my hero was my father, and he was a damn good one. Love you, Pops. I'll see you again some day. Tell Hudson I said hi.' Hudson Lee Madsen, was Luke's older brother and Madsen's son, who took his own life in 2022 when he was 26 years old. John Cleese fans to see 'different side' to iconic star in new documentary

John Cleese fans will see a "different side" to the actor for the first-time ever in a brand-new documentary. The Fawlty Towers star, 85, has joked viewers will be able to see him as a "decrepit, addled, nasty old geriatric" in new film John Cleese Packs It In, which will follow the star behind the scenes during his final, 23-date European tour. In the 90-minute documentary, which will be screened in more than 350 cinemas across the UK, John will battle various ailments, encounter chaotic travel and grapple with his own stubborn refusal to stop. Speaking about the documentary, he said: "For the first time, audiences will see a different side to me - not just the dashing, devil-may-care, devastatingly handsome bon viveur, but also the decrepit, addled, nasty old geriatric that my PR team work day and night to hide from the public. "You will see with your own eyes what it's really like for a moribund 85 year old to struggle through a 23-city European tour, desperately trying to squeeze a few laughs from audiences who are clearly disappointed that they've wasted their hard-earned cash on over-priced tickets. "This hatchet job is not just shocking, it's also hilarious, as audiences everywhere laugh, not with me, but at me." The comedy icon - who is also one of the minds behind Monty Python - visits 16 European cities and performs 23 shows across six weeks in the film. John Cleese Packs It In will also feature the star reflecting on his seven-decade career, which began in 1963. John Travers of CinemaLive, distributors of the film in cinemas, said: "We're genuinely excited to be working alongside Medium Sized Fish Productions to share this incredible documentary about John Cleese in cinemas later this year. "We can't wait for audiences to meet the man behind the comedy legend." Cleese is no stranger to cinemas, after appearing in several films throughout his career, including the Oscar-nominated A Fish Called Wanda, and he portrayed Q in 2002 James Bond movie Die Another Day. John Cleese Packs It In is showing in UK cinemas from Thursday 13th November 2025. Tickets are available from

A Look at Michael Madsen's 8 Most Iconic Movie Roles, From 'Reservoir Dogs 'to 'Sin City' and More

Michael Madsen has starred in some of the most memorable projects of all time. Throughout his 43-year career, Madsen has appeared alongside screen legends like Susan Sarandon, Geena Davis, Samuel L. Jackson and more, and he's collaborated with some of the industry's best directors. Most notably, he frequently worked with Quentin Tarantino, featuring in five of the Oscar winner's 10 films. On July 3, 2025, Madsen was found unresponsive in his Malibu home and pronounced dead from cardiac arrest at age 67, his reps confirmed to PEOPLE. "Michael Madsen was one of Hollywood's most iconic actors, who will be missed by many,' wrote his managers and publicist in a statement. In Madsen's honor, look back on some of his most timeless roles, from Thelma & Louise to the Bond film Die Another Day and more. Madsen portrayed Jimmy Lennox, the traveling musician boyfriend of Sarandon's Louise, in the 1991 cult classic. Speaking to The After Movie Diner, he revealed that he earned the role by taking Sarandon out for lunch after screenwriter Callie Khouri and director Ridley Scott questioned whether he'd be the right fit for Jimmy. 'We never talked about the movie, we just chatted with each other about everything else in the world, and the next day, they called me up to say, 'Okay, do you want to be Jimmy?' ' he recalled. In his first project with Tarantino, Madsen starred opposite Harvey Keitel, Tim Roth, Steve Buscemi and more as ex-convict Vic Vega (also known as Mr. Blonde). At the Raindance Film Festival in 2014, he credited Tarantino with being 'responsible' for launching his career, calling Reservoir Dogs his 'genesis' as an actor. A departure from his villainous roles, Madsen played the foster father of Jesse, a 12-year-old orphan who seeks to free the eponymous orca held at an amusement park. He told The AV Club in 2015, 'I'm glad to have been in it. It was one of those things that kind of balances out my bad guys, you know?" Opposite Al Pacino and Johnny Depp in the film adaptation of Joseph D. Pistone's autobiography, Madsen took on the role of mafioso Sonny Black. In his career retrospective with The AV Club, he considered Donnie Brasco one of the five best in his filmography — though he refused to read for the role. 'If I am [perfect for the role], then why don't you just give me a contract? Because I don't understand what the whole reasoning is,' he said. Only after he went to New York to meet with Pacino did he receive an offer for the Oscar-nominated spy thriller. Madsen added, 'Every time I see Donnie Brasco, I appreciate it a little bit more. It was very, very well done. … It's a damned good movie.' He gave another memorable performance playing NSA chief, Damian Falco, in Die Another Day. The Lee Tamahori-directed film also featured other Hollywood heavyweights, including Pierce Brosnan as James Bond, Halle Berry, Judi Dench, Rosamund Pike, John Cleese, Toby Stephens and more. Perhaps one of Madsen's biggest roles came in 2003, when he played Budd in Kill Bill. In a 2004 interview, Madsen revealed he was originally slated to play a different role in the film, but Tarantino wound up cutting that part and gave him Budd instead. The actor would reprise the role in Kill Bill: Vol. 2. In 2005, Madsen was one of many talents, starring in Sin City. Directed by Frank Miller and Robert Rodriguez, the film was based on the former's comic series of the same name. In addition to Madsen, Sin City also starred Bruce Willis, Clive Owen, Mickey Rourke, Jessica Alba, Benicio del Toro, Brittany Murphy and more. In 2015, Madsen once again reunited with his friend and longtime collaborator Quentin Tarantino for his western The Hateful Eight. 'I think he knows me so well, we don't have to talk a lot about certain things … so it's a symbiotic kind of understanding we have with each other,' he revealed in a behind-the-scenes interview. 'I can't really say there's another director that I have that with.' They would work together one more time on 2019's Once Upon a Hollywood. Read the original article on People

Michael Madsen's actress sister Virginia breaks silence on his shocking death: He ‘has left the stage'

Michael Madsen's family are in mourning after the actor's shocking death. His younger sister, actress Virginia Madsen, addressed his sudden passing, shortly after the 'Donnie Brasco' star was found unresponsive by authorities in his Malibu, Calif., home on Thursday, July 3. Michael was 67. Advertisement 11 Virginia Madsen and Michael Madsen at the 'Die Another Day' screening in 2002. Getty Images 'My brother Michael has left the stage,' Virginia, 63, told Variety in a statement. 'He was thunder and velvet. Mischief wrapped in tenderness. A poet disguised as an outlaw. A father, a son, a brother — etched in contradiction, tempered by love that left its mark.' The actress — known for her roles in 'Candy Man' (1992) and 'Sideways' (2004) — made it clear: 'We're not mourning a public figure. We're not mourning a myth — but flesh and blood and ferocious heart. Who stormed through life loud, brilliant, and half on fire. Who leaves us echoes — gruff, brilliant, unrepeatable — half legend, half lullaby.' Advertisement Virginia ended her heartfelt statement on a personal note. 'I'll miss our inside jokes, the sudden laughter, the sound of him. I'll miss the boy he was before the legend; I miss my big brother. Thank you to everyone reaching out with love and memory. In time, we'll share how we plan to celebrate his life — but for now, we stay close, and let the silence say what words can't,' she concluded. Virginia and Michael supported each other during their careers, often appearing on the red carpet together at each other's premieres. 11 Michael Madsen and actress Virginia Madsen attend the Miramax Feature film premiere of 'Kill Bill Vol. II.' Two of his former co-stars, Harvey Keitel and Vivica A. Fox, also reacted to the news of his passing. Advertisement 'We've lost another great American poet. AP Besides his legendary film career, Michael was a published poet and has a book, titled 'Tears for My Father: Outlaw Thoughts and Poems,' due out next year. Tarantino wrote in the foreword for the book: 'For me, the real journey that Michael the writer is exploring is what it means to be a man in a world where the notions of manhood that some of us grew up with are barely remembered. But then if everybody embarked on the hero's journey, everybody would be a hero, wouldn't they?' 'Michael was a talented man with an AMAZING on screen presence! My deepest condolences & prayers to his family. #GoneToSoon #RestInParadise,' Fox exclusively told The Post via email. 11 Michael Madsen died on Thursday, July 3 at the age of 67. 'Michael was also preparing to release a new book called 'Tears for My Father: Outlaw Thoughts and Poems,' currently being edited,' they continued. 'Michael Madsen was one of Hollywood's most iconic actors, who will be missed by many.' The Chicago-born actor's feature film debut came in the 1983 sci-fi techno thriller 'WarGames,' however, during her four-decade-career, he quickly became typecast as a tough guy — a move he said stemmed from his role as Mr. Blonde in 'Reservoir Dogs.' He's up there with George Stevens and Alfred Hitchcock, Elia Kazan,' Michael told The Hollywood reporter in 2018. 'Because of that, because of my relationship with him, it became bigger than anything I ever did. And then 'Kill Bill' put the final stamp on that one. It's a great blessing to have that and at the same time, it is really hard to get out of it. And people don't want you to get out of it.' He added, 'It's really hard to break out of that nest once you've built it.'
