The new flavour was announced as part of a line up of new sweet treat releases offered by the snack food brand. The newest flavour of the nation's favourite biscuit features a tantalising pink chocolate covering. Colourful, pink wrappers make the newest McVitie's treat stand out on shelves. Shoppers rushed to try out the bold new flavour but were left saying the same thing after finding them in store. Biscuit lovers were left with a sour taste after seeing the price of the new McVitie's Pink Digestives Raspberry & Cream Flavour. At a whopping £2.50 per pack shoppers said Sainsbury's could keep the sweet treats. But despite the excitement of the new flavour shoppers were left stunned by the "ridiculous" price. After an image of the new biscuits was shared to social media alongside the eye watering price tag fans hit out at the treat supplier. Amanda Holden, Roman Kemp & Denise van Outen step out on blue carpet to mark 100 years of McVitie's Chocolate Digestives While McVitie's claimed the biscuit would "bring together nostalgic flavours in a fun, fruity, and irresistibly moreish bite" fans could only focus on the price. The pink biscuits sparked an outrage from shoppers who said they could get shop brand digestives for just 50p. When the new biscuits were announced Benazir Barlet-Batada, Marketing Director at McVitie's, spoke about the release. How to save cash on your food shop Money saving experts at HSBC UK have revealed their top tips to saving cash on your food shop. 1. Set a budget Creating a budget will help to stretch your budget. Start by working out how much you spent on food over the last three months, then each month you get paid, set aside a certain amount for food. 2. Plan your meals Make a list of your main meals for the coming week, including the ingredients you need, and stick to it. Don't get drawn into offers for things that you don't need. If you already have some food leftover from the week before, try to see what you can do with that first. 3. Think about when and where you shop It's best to shop on a full stomach so you don't get tempted. Shopping less often can help you to think about what you buy and it may help you to stick to your budget. 4. Go online Shopping online is a good and easy way to manage your budget. It can also help to track expenses, whilst also preventing impulse buys. After seeing the price of the new biscuits in Sainsbury's one fan said: "At £2.50 I let the shop keep them, ridiculous when shop brand digestives are 50p. "These companies hike the price on purpose they'll be reduced to pennies if they don't sell well." Another commented: "For £2.50 they can keep them." And a third added: "Expensive at £2.50 for biscuits. Bet these will be in Farmfoods soon for £1.00." Another wrote: "I need to experience." And a fifth replied: "They have them in my store I will get some tomorrow after work."

McVitie's fans 'need' to try new Digestives flavour 'now'

As part of McVitie's' 100th anniversary celebrations of its iconic Chocolate Digestive, the brand is launching a new flavour – but you'll have to be quick if you want to snap them up If you're a fan of McVitie's Digestive biscuits, you're in for a treat as the brand prepares to launch a new edition of one of its much-loved snacks. The plain Digestive was first produced in 1892 and has gone on to see numerous adaptions – most notably the Chocolate Digestive – as well Caramel and Gold Bar versions in more recent times. Now, the Digestive has taken on a new form and after an image of its packet was shared to Instagram, foodies admitted they can't wait to tuck in. The account, UK's Newest Foods divulged: "PINK Raspberry & Cream flavour Digestives coming soon to Sainsbury's RRP £2.35." McVitie's say the new product is part of the 100th anniversary celebrations of Chocolate Digestives and is a "fruity reinvention, now topped with a smooth raspberry and cream flavour coating." ‌ ‌ Snack lovers may be sad to learn the biscuits will only be on the shelves for a limited time only, however, as McVitie's added in a mouth-watering product description: "Bringing a burst of colour into the biscuit world, McVitie's is putting a fruity spin on its iconic range with the launch of the limited-edition McVitie's Pink Digestives Raspberry & Cream Flavour. "The McVitie's production lines are now baking perfectly pink biscuits. Each biscuit is a golden-baked Digestive topped with a luscious raspberry and cream-flavour coating, bringing together nostalgic flavours in a fun, fruity and irresistibly moreish bite." "Whether you're enjoying the summer of sport, a biscuit break with friends or looking to perk up a sunny picnic, McVitie's Pink Digestives are the seasons' ultimate sweet treat." Writing in response to the Instagram post, hungry Brits highlighted its resemblance to another iconic biscuit as they admitted they couldn't wait to snap them up and scoff them down. "I need these now!" one person declared. "All my dreams have come true!" ‌ A second pondered: "If these taste like Pink Panther biscuits, oh my God." A third added: "I used to love pink wafers as a kid!" Whilst a fourth person declared: "I can't wait to see this in stores here in London." Benazir Barlet-Batada, Marketing Director at McVitie's, said: "As we continue to celebrate 100 years of McVitie's Chocolate Digestives, we wanted to mark the next chapter in our history by reinventing the nation's favourite. Fun, fresh and packed with fruity flavour, the new Pink Digestives are designed to delight devoted Digestives fans and foodies alike." Last month saw some of London's most famous landmarks illuminated with dazzling light projections to celebrate the anniversary, meanwhile. The London Eye was transformed into a towering tribute, showcasing a jaw-dropping 360-degree rotating projection of the beloved biscuit. And Tower Bridge joined the festivities with a vibrant showreel of fireworks, balloons, and confetti. The ambitious projections required eight weeks of meticulous planning and precision mapping to align the visuals perfectly with each landmark, using advanced hologauze and projection technology.
