Opium husk worth 40L seized, 4 held in Churu
Jhunjhunu: The police Saturday seized 273 kilogram of opium husk worth Rs 40 lakh and arrested four people in Churu district. Two vehicles were also seized. According to Ratangarh police officer Dilip Singh, the police were patrolling Saturday night when they received a tip-off about drug trafficking. They stopped and searched a car near Sankat Mochan Balaji Temple on the Ratangarh Highway. The occupants, 25-year-old Mahavir Prasad Meghwal from Barwali village and 29-year-old Vikram Singh Rajput from Chawandiya village, both in Didwana, revealed they were piloting a Fortuner car carrying the opium husk, he said. Meanwhile, a Fortuner car arrived at the police checkpoint, carrying 48-year-old Kulwant Singh and 40-year-old Gurpreet Singh, both from Punjab. Upon searching the car, police found 272.35 kilogram of opium husk in 14 bags, estimated to be worth around Rs 40 lakh. According to the police, the accused were transporting the opium husk from Madhya Pradesh to Punjab. A case has been filed under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act (NDPS).

SHO, advocate held taking bribe
Jaipur: Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) Thursday arrested a police station house officer (SHO) and an advocate after catching them taking bribes. Inspector Dilip Singh, posted as SHO at Rajtalab police station in Banswara, and advocate Sharif Khan, a resident of Banswara, were arrested and booked under Prevention of Corruption Act . Ravi Prakash Meharda, DG, ACB, said a complaint was received of a family being harassed by Rajtalab police. Their vehicles were seized during a property attachment process. The SHO allegedly demanded a bribe to avoid confiscating the remaining vehicles and property, and to stop further harassment. Inspector Dilip Singh, through middleman Sharif Khan, reportedly demanded Rs 6.5 lakh. During verification of the complaint, the lawyer agreed to accept Rs 3.5 lakh as bribe on behalf of SHO Singh, of which Rs 1 lakh he took inside the premises of Rajtalab police station. Dilip Singh was caught taking the remaining Rs 2.5 lakh on Thursday.
