Piya Valecha on switching careers, personal loss, and staying relevant; says, 'Influencing is the need of the hour, but acting is my calling'

Actor Piya Valecha, who has appeared in shows like Dilli Wali Thakur Girls, Chandra Nandini, and most recently Imlie, says while she has stepped into the world of digital influencing, acting remains her core identity. Speaking about the shift, she maintained that content creation is not a priority, but something she embraced to stay relevant. 'Influencing is the need of the hour, but I am an actor and will always enjoy acting as my profession,' she shared. Piya, who was last seen in a cameo in Choti Sarrdaarni in 2023, has previously worked in television shows including Saavdhaan India, Aahat, Code Red, Yeh Hai Aashiqui, Baalveer, and Bahu Hamari Rajnikant. Opening up about a difficult personal chapter, the actor revealed she had faced a series of emotional setbacks that coincided with professional disappointments. 'Some wounds leave deep scars mentally and emotionally,' she said. 'I was switching my career path for a relationship to work out, and at the same time, that ended, I lost my father, and I was replaced in a show I had signed. 'I did whatever best I could just to keep going,' she added. 'That phase made me realise who my real friends were, and I felt quite alone while facing it all. Spiritually, I tried to stay centered, but balancing life and its demands hasn't been easy.' She also commented on the pressure of keeping up with public expectations. 'No one has time for your real or sad stories. Everyone wants to know what's next — what you're doing professionally. How successful, rich, or famous you are determines how people treat you.'
