NFL Power Rankings heading into training camp

NFL players and teams are getting ready for training camp. What else would one want to do in July heat than to put on some pads and get physical with teammates. Actually, many players are probably looking forward to getting back on the field and getting primed for the 2025 NFL season. The Power Rankings take a look at how all 32 teams stack up. First, one has to wonder what is in the water in Ohio. The Cleveland Browns and Cincinnati Bengals can't be accused of making wise decisions. 32. Cleveland Browns Well, it is now understandable why the Browns selected Shedeur Sanders. They think he is fast, especially with his pedal leg. Nothing like getting a couple of outrageous speeding tickets to make the front office feel comfortable with their decision to draft him after selecting Dillion Gabriel. The only thing fast for Cleveland is its trip to another high draft pick in 2026. Well, it is now understandable why the Browns selected Shedeur Sanders. Their front office must think it is okay to take care of one part of the roster every offseason. How else can it be explained that Trey Hendrickson is in a contract stalemate and first-round pick Shemar Stewart remains unhappy and unsigned? Those are vital cogs to the defense, which has to be strong in order to set up Joe Burrow, Ja'Marr Chase, Tee Higgins & Co. Right? New Orleans Saints New coach Kellen Moore might be wishing he was still an offensive coordinator in one of his former stops. The Saints' quarterback situation is dismal. Spencer Rattler, Tyler Shough, Jake Haener, and Hunter Dekkers have a combined seven NFL starts and zero wins. The NFC South is putrid and New Orleans is the bottom of its barrel. At least they didn't draft a quarterback in the first round (kidding). The Falcons went defense-centric. They are still stuck with Kirk Cousins and his monster deal. At least they didn't draft a quarterback in the first round (kidding). The Falcons went defense-centric. They are still stuck with Kirk Cousins and his monster deal — for now. They did well at three with Abdul Carter. Jaxson Dart adds to Jameis Winston and Russell Wilson, who has been anoninted the starter. Another long season in store at MetLife. Get ready for a shakeup in the front office before 2026. They did well at three with Abdul Carter. Jaxson Dart adds to Jameis Winston and Russell Wilson, who has been anoninted the starter. This team is light years from the Detroit Lions squad he left as offensive coordinator take charge at Soldier Field. Finishing anywhere but last in this division would be a stunner. Anthony Richardson is now Anthony Richardson Sr. The Colts hope the name change will have the quarterback play up to the expectations they had when drafting him. The injury-prone quarterback has a shoulder problem, not from carrying his baby son on them. That would likely be from toting this offense. The backup is Daniel Jones. That combination doesn't exude optimism. Tennessee Titans They drafted Cam Ward first and one would never know a quarterback was taken first overall because everything was overshadowed by a fifth-round pick. The Titans added some defense in the picking process. They will take a long time to rebuild. Just make sure they take care of Ward. They need to make sure Drake Maye is left upright at all costs. TreVeyon Henderson should give Rhamondre Stevenson ample support. Mike Vrabel will show folks his ability is more of what he was in the beginning at Tennessee than at the end of his run with the Titans. The Pats were wise to get Will Campbell. New York Jets Justin Fields in 2025 is a better option at quarterback than Aaron Rodgers in 2025. The Jets believe that and the former Ohio State star has a clear path to prove he is an NFL quarterback. It would be delicious if Fields excels on the field while the grand old man struggles as he plays out his career in Pittsburgh. Gang Green fans would eat that up. Jacksonville Jaguars Trading up for Travis Hunter was a spectacular splash. Let him do his thing on offense and defense while monitoring total plays. Wyatt Millum should bring grit to the line. Miami Dolphins Rather than continuining to beat the drum on how the Dolphins are bullies and only beat lesser teams, let's give Steve Spurrier a chance to take a double shot. One at Quinn Ewers, the seventh-round pick, and the other at his successor in Texas, Arch Manning. 'My question is, if he was this good, how come they let Quinn Ewers play all the time last year? He was a seventh-round pick.' Rather than continuining to beat the drum on how the Dolphins are bullies and only beat lesser teams, let's give Steve Spurrier a chance to take a double shot. Everyone should be cheering on Jack Bech at wideout. Geno Smith isn't a spring chicken. Then again, neither is Pete Carroll no matter how much enthusiasm he has. Pittsburgh Steelers The Steelers' faithful wasn't thrilled when the team signed Aaron Rodgers. If this is truly one-and-done in Pittsburgh, chances are it will be a season to forget. Could Rodgers be the only quarterback to have Mike Tomlin wind up with a sub-.500 season? It's a strong possibility. The Steelers' faithful wasn't thrilled when the team signed Aaron Rodgers. Dallas Cowboys Brian Schottenheimer feels in the deep end with sharks circling. The only person in a worse spot could be former Cowboys OC Kellen Moore. Seattle Seahawks The best thing that could happen to Sam Darnold was Seattle landing Cooper Kupp. He isn't Justin Jefferson but he certainly is a superstar and has plenty left. The former Viking QB would do well to look for the ex-Ram often, which should open up others receivers. Will Tetairoa McMillan make the rise from Arizona Wildcats to Carolina Panthers successfully? Trevor Etienne should not be expected to have the same results as his brother Travis is in Jacksonville. Houston Texans The Texans had best hope Iowa State wide receivers can make it in the NFL because they drafted a pair of them. It was good to focus on pass-catchers given how injury-prone that group was in 2024. The Texans had best hope Iowa State wide receivers can make it in the NFL because they drafted a pair of them. Sam Howell is going to bounce from team to team it seems. Do not expect 14 wins from Minnesota, again. This team's hopes and dreams hinge on J.J. McCarthy's knee. Tampa Bay Buccaneers Todd Bowles and Jason Licht earned extensions for their roles in building an NFC South dynasty. They should add another division championship and not threaten to win the Super Bowl in 2025. Amazing what being in the worst division in the NFL can do for bank accounts. Trey McBride is a gem at tight end. Will Johnson and Walter Nolen need to be watched to see what they delivers as rookies. The Cardinals will continue to get better. Denver Broncos Not about to argue with Sean Payton, especially when it comes to scoping talent. Jahdae Barron will mesh with Patrick Surtain II in the secondary. Will RJ Harvey or Pat Bryant be assets on offense? Harvey brings big rushing numbers from UCF. Payton finds gems. See: Nix, Bo. They needed a tight end but Terrance Ferguson felt like a stretch at 46. The running back room is full of talent. Sean McVay will figure it out. The Rams have Davante Adams. Jayden Daniels will get better and he already is a superstar. Trey Amos (DB) and Jaylin Lane (WR) were strong picks. The Commanders won't catch anyone by surprise in 2025. Kansas City Chiefs The Chiefs remain the class of the AFC West. However, the Broncos and Chargers are gaining on them. Josh Simmons is either a steal or a guy whose injury history is going to haunt. Green Bay Packers Green Bay Packers safety Kitan Oladapo (27) participates in the team's minicamp at Ray Nitschke Field. A brilliant draft in Green Bay started with the first wideout taken in the first round (Matthew Golden) and followed by the huge Anthony Belton. The Packers are a powerhouse and will be a team to watch. The Detroit Lions best keep their eyes open. 4. Philadelphia Eagles Anyone going to argue with anything Howie Roseman does in the draft? Didn't think so. That still doesn't mean the offseason losses won't hurt the Super Bowl champs. Anyone going to argue with anything Howie Roseman does in the draft? Didn't think so. Tyleik Williams will give size and depth to the defense. The biggest thing in Detroit is not having players on IR. The Lions still have upside though they have gained used a lot of it up in the past few years. The Lions' season hinges on being healthy after a year where everyone and anyone was injured. Baltimore Ravens Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson hands off the ball to running back Derrick Henry. How do they keep getting players like Malaki Starks and Mike Green? Is everyone else blind to their talent? Nah. The Ravens' front office is simply smarter than everyone. Derrick Henry, Lamar Jackson and the offense will continue to be unstoppable. Browns new quarterbacks share first impressions on day two of rookie minicamp

BEREA, Ohio (WKBN) – Cleveland Browns rookie quarterbacks Dillion Gabriel and Shedeur Sanders spoke to the media about their first impressions of rookie mini camp and the adjustments so far to the National Football League. Garbiel, drafted 94th overall in the third round, is not worried about the outside noise after draft day and is ready to compete in the Browns quarterback room. 'It's not new to me, I've done it at every stop and I've done it at every level,' said Gabriel. 'Thank goodness for that and great preparation, but also know that my competition is yesterday.' Sanders, who has garnered far more national media attention, was selected 50 picks after Gabriel at 144th overall in the fifth round. But now, the son of NFL great Deion Sanders says all focus is on the field now that he is in Berea at rookie minicamp. 'I just feel like in life and everything is just me versus me, I can't control any other decision besides that, so I just try to be my best self at all times,' said Sanders. 'I'm doing what I need to do whenever it is, I'm just thankful for the opportunity. Things could have been a lot worse, but I'm here smiling in front of you all at this facility right now.' The final day of Brown's rookie minicamp is Sunday, and OTAs start at the end of May. Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc. All rights reserved.
