Ianis Hagi shows true colours as Rangers hero gives ex SPFL rival priceless words of advice after box office transfer
Danny Armstrong says he's become good pals with Ianis Hagi after the Rangers hero gave him some priceless advice on how to survive Romanian football.. The former Kilmarnock signed for Dinamo Bucharest earlier this summer and made his bow for his new club following his surprise summer move from Ayrshire to Romania. And, after a 2-2 draw against Csíkszereda, Armstrong admitted Hagi - who left Rangers when his contract expired in the summer - was able to help him out. "Before I came here, I asked Ianis what he thought of Dinamo and the city of Bucharest. I just wanted some advice because it was a big move for me. "He spoke so well about Bucharest, about Dinamo, about the league. "I'm trying to learn Romanian and my colleagues are also teaching me a few words. As the days go by, I'll try again to learn. "It's something new for me, but it's good that many people speak English, so I'm happy about that. "I would say the football here is more intense than in Scotland and it's maybe more technical. The game is also more aggressive. "But it's something I will adapt to and I like learning new things and a new style of play. I'm looking to get better every day, that's my plan. Newsboy's horseracing tips for Tuesday's three meetings, including Musselburgh Nap
Newsboy fancies his nap, Oasis Diamond, to prove a real gem at Musselburgh and also expects Calafiori can score at Wolverhampton and complete his Daily Double OASIS DIAMOND (2.30, Nap) looks set to shine in the Celebrating The Musselburgh Festival 2025 Nursery over five furlongs on Tuesday afternoon. The daughter of Oasis Dream, trained by Michael and David Easterby, was considered good enough to race in the Windsor Castle Stakes at Royal Ascot in June. And although down the field, finishing 10 and a half lengths behind the winner Havana Hurricane, she was then well backed last time out in a Class 6 Nursery at Catterick. Always prominent, she disputed the lead from a furlong out and ran on well to hold off Gillali Lass to score by a head. Back in the same class again today, the two-year-old is fancied to follow up. On the All-Weather at Wolverhampton, CALAFIORI (7.00, nb) can make amends for an unlucky second last time by taking the HighBet Acca Odds Boost Nursery under Billy Loughnane. The George Boughey-trained gelding was beaten a short-head by Dinamo at Thirsk last week after getting caught in a pocket and hampering rivals. Although he ran on strongly once in the open, the line came just too soon for him and he had to settle for second. With a clearer run today, the son of Ardad is expected to gain compensation. McKenna explains how Croatian legend sold him on Zagreb move
The Scotland defender has completed his surprise move to the Croatian side after leaving Las Palmas following their relegation from La Liga last term. And he was delighted to find out he will make history when he makes his Dinamo said: "I was told I will become the first Scot to play in Croatia. I didn't know that - I thought I was maybe one of the first and perhaps the first Scot at Dinamo, but I didn't know I was the first Scottish player in the country. "I hope I play well and that Scotland will be proud of me. Read more: "A lot of Croatian players have played in Scotland in recent years, but obviously no one before me has gone the other way. "I'm happy to be here. This is a huge club and I'm grateful for the opportunity they've given me. I'm looking forward to playing here for a few years. "First, my agent called me about the interest from Dinamo and then I spoke to Zvonimir Boban. "The great thing was that the conversation wasn't just about football, the whole family got involved. He even spoke to my girlfriend. We all felt welcome even before I officially arrived. It wasn't a difficult decision. I know they are a huge club because of everything they have done in European competitions. Growing up, I heard about them because they were always competitive in Europe. When I got the call, I didn't hesitate. "Dinamo gives me the opportunity to play in Europe and win trophies and I really liked that. They have been very successful for many years and I want to be a part of it."
