Alexander Skarsgard on cahllenges he faced in acting career, recalls "crying in the shower" after bad auditions
Actor Alexander Skarsgard opened up on the challenges he faced in Hollywood in the initial years of his career, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Actor Alexander Skarsgard opened up on the challenges he faced in Hollywood in the initial years of his career, according to The Hollywood Reporter. During a recent appearance on Jesse Tyler Ferguson 's Dinner's on Me podcast, the actor recalled "crying in the shower" after bad auditions, before his 2008 breakout year with his roles in Generation Kill and True Blood, as per the outlet. "I found those experiences -- they were horrible -- when you go in for something that you know you're not right for, and you're not connecting with a character at all, but you're at a place where you feel like you can't say no to the audition," Skarsgard said of his struggles with the audition process, even after he starred in 2001's Zoolander. "I was always on the cusp of being fired by my agents," the Pillion actor added. "If I say no to this audition, they're probably gonna drop me, so I gotta go in, but I don't connect to the role. I'm completely wrong for it." He admitted he gets "a little PTSD" thinking about that time in his career, "because I remember the feeling of coming back to my little shitty apartment in L.A., you know, crying in the shower after a day like that. I just felt filthy in my soul and, like, zero confidence. I was like, 'I'm the worst actor in the world, and I also have no dignity because I go in and audition for this stuff. I'm wasting their time.' It's a rough feeling," according to The Hollywood Reporter. A son of actor Stellan Skarsgard , he began acting at age seven but quit at age thirteen. After serving in the Swedish Navy, Skarsgard returned to acting and gained his first role in the US comedy film Zoolander (2001). After appearing in films such as Melancholia (2011), Battleship (2012) and The Legend of Tarzan (2016), Skarsgard starred in the drama series Big Little Lies (2017-2019) as an abusive husband, which earned him a Primetime Emmy Award and a Golden Globe Award. He went on to appear in the films Long Shot (2019), Godzilla vs. Kong (2021), Passing (2021), The Northman (2022), which he also produced, and Infinity Pool (2023).

Eiza González's Scrutiny Over Her Body Image As A Teen
Fountain of Youth star Eiza González shared how she was brought back to a difficult moment as a teenage actor when Millie Bobby Brown called out journalists for their "disturbing" comments about her appearance. During a May 26 appearance on Jesse Tyler Ferguson's podcast Dinner's on Me, Eiza recalled facing scrutiny around her appearance like Millie did earlier this year. "It really made me sad because... when I was like a teenager, you know, I broke into the industry," Eiza recalled. From 2007-08, Eiza starred in a Mexican remake of the Argentine telenovela Floricienta called Lola, érase una vez (Lola: Once Upon a Time). "They were waiting for the reveal of this character, and I came on stage, and I sang a song, whatever," she recalled. "The next morning, I'm watching the version of Today Show in Mexico, and they're gonna talk about it. I'm like, I'm 14 'Oh my God, it's just happening, this is crazy.' I'm doing what I wanna do. And the presenters came on, and they're 40 and 50-year-olds, and they're like, 'Ugh, she's so ugly. She's so fat. They could have gotten anyone, like why would they get her?'" Eiza became a bit emotional as she recounted the harsh experience. "I remember even right now, I'm just like, 'Oh my God, it was just so jarring," she said. "And I was just like sitting there, like embarrassed with myself. Like even [now] it makes me tear up." Earlier, Eiza explained that she suffered a "deep depression" after the death of her father in a "tragic accident" when she was only 12, which made this experience even harder to navigate as a teen. "Now you become this child where you're chasing approval, and now you're like completely lost of identity. And you're also completely lost because you're mourning and you're grieving, so you're sad. And then I'm touring and having to smile and be a role model and pretend like I'm okay when everyone's bombarding you. What you're supposed to do, what you're not supposed to do." But, support from her "amazing mother" being there for her through it all helped Eiza persist. "I definitely got lost. I was very unkind to myself, my body, my thoughts, my soul, because I just never felt good enough," she continued. "And it's something that stays with you forever because it's sort of brands you, it marks you for life. And so it becomes a catch-up." Millie's clapback by calling out the "disgusting" headlines resonated with Eiza, reminding her of her own experience as a teenage actor. "I really identified with what she was saying because she was reading this, she was explaining about her terrifying [experience] and I just found that really interesting because she was talking about being a grown woman and sort of finding the way she wants to dress and act and be, and she doesn't have to do it under other people's terms. It's under her terms." If you remember, back in March, Millie, who started at age 12 on Stranger Things, faced nasty comments from certain media during her press tour for Electric State. On March 3, Millie called out the problematic headlines and discourse. "We always talk about supporting and uplifting young women, but when the time comes, it seems easier to tear them down for clicks. Disillusioned people can't handle seeing a girl become a woman on her terms, not theirs. I refuse to apologize for growing up. I refuse to make myself smaller to fit the unrealistic expectations of people who can't handle seeing a girl become a woman. I will not be shamed for how I look, how I dress, or how I present myself," Millie wrote. It's truly heartbreaking that Millie, Eiza, and many entertainers of all ages experience such nasty critiques on their appearance, whether from social media or, in some cases, professional media. Hopefully, the fear of being called out by name will start deterring the culprits. Listen to the Dinner's On Me episode here.

Joshua Jackson Says Daughter Juno, 5, Had a Few Key Suggestions for Rebuilding Their House After It Burned in L.A. Fires
Joshua Jackson's daughter had some ideas about what to add to their house when they rebuild it The actor's childhood home, in which he lived with his daughter Juno, 5, burned down in the Los Angeles fires Jackson shares his daughter with ex-wife Jodie Turner-SmithJoshua Jackson's daughter had some suggestions for rebuilding their home after it burned down during the Los Angeles fires. The actor, 46, appeared on Today on Tuesday, May 27, and spoke about how he lost his childhood home during the fires in Los Angeles earlier this year. Jackson said that it was "not easy" and that the first six weeks were a "scramble," but noted that his daughter Juno, 5, was particularly resilient in the face of the disaster. "It just so happened that the day of a fire was a transfer day, so I drop her off at school, her mom picks her up, which was a blessing because it meant I had six days to kind of get it together, figure out a place for us to live, get the house restocked, get our feet on the ground," Jackson shared. "But it also meant that for six days, she didn't know her house burnt down." "So when she comes back, I sit her down and tell her, 'Honey, I've got some bad news. The house burned down.' She starts to cry, which is good, right? She's processing," he continues. The proud dad says his daughter began asking if specific things were okay after the fires, to which Jackson had to answer that they had all burned down as well. "I say, 'This is not a grown-up thing. You can ask me any question you want about this and I will tell you whatever you want to know.' And she said, 'I would like to see some pictures.' So I go, 'Okay,' and I show her some pictures of the house," says Jackson. "She looks at it and she goes, 'Daddy, when we build the new house, we should build it with water around it because water doesn't burn.'" "I go, 'Okay,' and then she says, 'And you know what, we should build it with dirt around it because dirt doesn't burn.' I said, 'Honey, these are great ideas. I'm going to write these down and we're gonna write out a list.'" The father-daughter duo ended up spending an hour going through it and creating a list, which became "turrets and rainbows and unicorns." "This is the kind of thing to watch her process, this is loss, and she still bring it up, 'I miss my house,' and we've gone up there a bunch to try to keep a connection with the land and help her through it, but I'm astonished by her resiliency and her ability to process," says Jackson. Jackson shares his daughter with ex-wife Jodie Turner-Smith . The actor opened up about his divorce from Turner-Smith on an April episode of Jesse Tyler Ferguson's Dinner's on Me podcast and shared that he will always put his daughter first, despite all of life's outside factors. "If I ever did anything to estrange my daughter from myself, I would be in duress," he said. "I actually can't conceive of it because I don't even wanna think of the pain that that would be." "Regardless of how messy the divorce is, beautiful the divorce is, easy [or] hard the co-parenting is ... I think this generation of dads is understanding, like 'I need to be here. It's gonna be hard, but this is important, and I've got to do this,' " continued Jackson. "It's my job – shared with my ex-wife – to do everything that we can to nurture you, cultivate you and give you all the tools that you need in life." Read the original article on People

Joshua Jackson and Jodie Turner-Smith Face New Showdown Over Their Daughter in Divorce Battle
Joshua Jackson and Jodie Turner-Smith have hit another roadblock in their ongoing divorce proceedings. The exes, who were married from 2019 to 2023, are reportedly facing a new court showdown amid their divorce battle, as they seemingly can't agree on where to send their 5-year-old daughter to school. According to docs obtained by TMZ, the pair are on the same page when it comes to most of their terms, but Jackson, 46, won't budge on their daughter's elementary school. As a result, Turner-Smith, 38, reportedly wants the judge to force Jackson into adhering to a court order that gives her the power to pick their child's place of education. In docs reportedly filed by her attorney, Laura Wasser, the actress said she wants their daughter to move to a new school next year, but Jackson isn't onboard. She claimed she researched the new school, conferred with him about it and made sure it was close enough to his home — but he's still reportedly refusing to agree to a switch-up. Us Weekly has reached out to both parties for comment. Jodie Turner-Smith Accuses Joshua Jackson of Demanding Sole Legal Custody of Their Daughter According to the legal docs, Jackson and Turner-Smith used a mediator to come up with a temporary schedule to govern the 50-50 custody of their daughter. He will allegedly pay $2,787 a month in child support with no monthly spousal support, as they settled on a lump sum. She is also asking Jackson to pay $75,000 for her attorney fees related to the school battle. Jackson recently spoke about his 'important' role as a father in an April 22 interview with Jesse Tyler Ferguson on his 'Dinner's on Me' podcast. "If I ever did anything to estrange my daughter from myself, I would be in duress," Jackson said. "I actually can't conceive of it because I don't even wanna think of the pain that that would be." The Doctor Odyssey star continued: "Regardless of how messy the divorce is, beautiful the divorce is, easy [or] hard the co-parenting is ... I think this generation of dads is understanding, like, 'I need to be here. It's gonna be hard, but this is important, and I've got to do this.' It's my job — shared with my ex-wife — to do everything that we can to nurture you, cultivate you and give you all the tools that you need in life." Jodie Turner-Smith Claims Estranged Husband Joshua Jackson Hasn't Paid Child Support Amid Divorce Turner-Smith also recently praised her daughter ahead of her kindergarten year. "She's just blossoming into such an intelligent, young, bossy, little one," she told E! News in March. "I mean, she's been reading since she was 3, so she already hit that milestone. I mean, she's about to go to kindergarten. I mean, that's a big milestone." The Queen & Slim actress added that although it's exciting to see her daughter grow up, it's also a bittersweet feeling. "I kind of want to cry," she said, "but I'm also very excited for her growing up, because I just need to get to hang out together more."
