Bhopal: The total MBBS seats available in Madhya Pradesh's NEET UG state-level counselling have shown an unexpected decrease this year. The Directorate of Medical Education has confirmed 4,775 seats for the upcoming admissions, marking a reduction from last year's 5,075 seats. The decrease stems from the withdrawal of recognition for 250 seats at Index Medical College and 50 seats at LN Medical College, amidst an ongoing investigations, resulting in an overall reduction of 300 seats. Both are private medical colleges. There is no increase government MBBS seats. DME has released the seat matrix for review and objections. Registered applicants can initiate choice filling and seat locking from July 31, with allocation results scheduled for announcement on August 6. The current counselling round encompasses 29 medical institutions, comprising 17 govt and 12 private establishments. The distribution includes 2,575 MBBS seats in govt institutions and 2,200 in private ones. Of these, 3,496 positions are accessible to MP students, with the remaining seats allocated under All India Quota, Government of India Quota, and NRI Quota. Registration concluded at midnight on July 30, with over 14,000 candidates enrolled. Following the completion of choice filling, seat allocations will proceed, after which candidates will continue their admission procedures at their respective institutions.

The Directorate of Medical Education (DME), Chhattisgarh, on July 29 begin the online registration against NEET UG round 1 counselling. Candidates eligible to register for state quota seats in the Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) and Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) courses can register for the seat allotment on the official website – The last date to register for round 1 is August 4. The choice filling and locking facility will be made available from July 29 to August 5. The merit list will be released on August 6, and the seat allotment process will be done on August 7. The round 1 seat allotment list will be announced on August 8. After the first round of counselling, admission to government medical colleges is mandatory for candidates who are allotted a seat. Admission is not mandatory for seats allotted in private medical colleges, government dental colleges, or private dental colleges. All allotted candidates must appear for scrutiny. Candidates who fail to take admission in the allotted government medical college will be excluded from the counselling process. The round 1 scrutiny process at the allotted institute can be done between August 9 and August 14 and the admission process will be held from August 9 to August 14. If a candidate is allotted a seat in a government medical college in round 1, they must physically report to the college and get their documents verified by the scrutiny committee. Upon successful verification, admission to the allotted college becomes compulsory. Candidates who wish to upgrade to round 2 must log in to their candidate portal and confirm their willingness to upgrade using an OTP. Once this option is selected, the previous choice list will be cancelled, and the candidate must fill fresh choices, lock them, and complete the final submission. It should be noted that a government medical college allotted in round 1 will not be allotted again in round 2 or in later rounds.
