Jaguar Land Rover refreshes Discovery Sport with new features and trims
The Discovery Sport has been given an upgrade and new naming conventions. The Discovery Sport has been given a nip and tuck and new naming conventions as Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) look to breathe some new life into the model. Dynamic S Starting with the entry level Dynamic S it gets the black treatment with gloss black lower body sides, lower bumpers, wheel arches and front claw detailing. 2026 Land Rover Discovery Sport Revealed With New Landmark Edition
Although it has aged gracefully, the Land Rover Discovery Sport has been around in much the same form since 2014, which is a long time for the same generation of a single model. It was facelifted for the 2020 model year, one of many times Land Rover refreshed this stylish and off-road-capable SUV. Now, for the 2026 model year, another round of updates has been applied to the Discovery Sport, headlined by a new Landmark Edition. Unfortunately, the one major change the Discovery Sport needed hasn't materialized, so let's get into the nitty gritty of what's new - and what's not - for this Land Rover. As a celebration of Land Rover's Discovery brand, which spans over 35 years, the Discovery Sport Landmark Edition arrives with subtle styling updates and a few extra features. One of the first additions you'll notice is the mountain range logo on this model, something first introduced on the 1989 Discovery. It can be seen on the aluminum treadplates and in the puddle lights of the 2026 Disco Sport. The Dynamic exterior of this derivative has a standard Narvik Gloss Black contrast roof, although a body-color roof is still available. A panoramic roof bathes the cabin in natural light, and the SUV gets a surround-view camera system and dual-zone climate control. The Landmark Edition is the only Discovery Sport trim for 2026, replacing both the S and Dynamic S. Overall, then, there's nothing amazing about the Landmark Edition, but it does add a touch of distinction to the Disco Sport. For the Discovery Sport range as a whole, the 2026 model year adds several new accessory packs. The existing Biking Adventures and For Dogs packs have been joined by the following new ones: Beach DaysRoad TripSnow Days The names say it all, with the Beach Day pack adding special sunshades and a collapsible load area organizer to keep your sandy beach gear neatly packed. For the Road Trip pack, the Landy gets Click & Go media holders for second-row occupants, along with cross bars and a roof box to carry extra items. Finally, the Snow Days pack features a Ski and Snowboard Carrier and Cross bars, which Land Rover claims can support four pairs of skis or two snowboards. Rubber floor mats also form part of the Snow Pack. We would have liked to have seen an uptick in power, as the Discovery Sport has a slightly underwhelming 2.0-liter four-cylinder turbo engine producing 246 horsepower. The 0-60 mph time is 7.3 seconds, making it significantly slower than luxury SUVs like the all-new BMW X3 and Mercedes-Benz GLC-Class; we're not expecting Defender V8-like performance, but still. This, coupled with unexciting handling, doesn't do much for the SUV's driver appeal. Then again, the 4,409-pound tow rating and 23.6-inch water wading capability are both very good for the segment. And, to be fair, the Disco Sport does ride comfortably. The sole Landmark trim starts at $49,900, excluding a destination charge of $1,275 - that's exactly $1,000 more than the base 2025 model. One of the more notable options is the $1,500 third row, a rare option for SUVs of this size; do note that there isn't much space in this third row. At this price, the Discovery Sport is well-specified and still looks the part, but it remains an aging SUV and is off the pace of the best models in the class. The fact that Land Rover has trimmed the lineup down to a single model suggests that it's preparing to phase out the current Discovery Sport.
