The property features a number of murals dedicated to Disney films, including beloved movies Aladdin, Snow White, and The Lion King. Characters including Aladdin and the Genie are found on the walls of the open-plan living room and kitchen/diner area, alongside Princess Jasmine, Abu, Rajah, Iago, and the Sultan. As expected, the former owner was a "massive" Disney fan, telling her estate agent she had visited Disneyland more than 20 times in her life. Moving to the bedrooms, one features a theme from The Lion King while another blends a combination of Snow White with the Ministry of Magic from Harry Potter. Echoing the 1937 classic film, a Magic Mirror mural appears above a fireplace, which is a replica of one used from the Harry Potter films. Images of other characters adorn the rest of the room, including those of Maleficent, Ursula, the Evil Queen from Snow White, and Jafar. Adding to the Harry Potter theme, one door even has the iconic sign Platform 9 ¾ on it. The wall along the staircase features another classic film - Mary Poppins - with a silhouette of the traditional London skyline taking up centre stage. Quotes from a number of Disney films also find themselves on each step. Nostalgic childhood store to RETURN in days - just four years after all but two shops closed Heading into the kitchen, cupboards have been decorated with the names of iconic Disney songs, including fan favourites Hakuna Matata from The Lion King and Under the Sea from The Little Mermaid. Joining the smaller bedrooms inspired by The Lion King and Snow White, the main sleeping space is dedicated to a combination of Lilo & Stitch and Wreck-It Ralph. The room features bedding adorned with beloved character Stitch while the walls are painted reminiscent of Sugar Rush - the fictional video game inhabited by one of the main characters in the 2012 animated film. "Step into the spacious living/dining/kitchen area where the magic begins. "With plenty of natural light and an open plan design, you'll feel like you're in the happiest place on Earth with ample room for all the family, and can easily accommodate a large dining table and chairs, with double doors opening onto the newly laid Indian sandstone patio." Is Driftwood bar in Glasgow city centre shut for good?

Driftwood, a Sauchiehall Street institution since the late 1990s, has long been a fixture of Glasgow's nightlife. However, loyal customers have been left reeling after learning that the popular pub has reportedly shut down for good. Adding to the uncertainty, all of Driftwood's social media accounts appear to have been deleted, leaving regulars searching for answers. When the Glasgow Times searched for the social media channels, we were met with a message which stated that the page cannot be found. (Image: Newsquest) (Image: Newsquest) (Image: Newsquest) READ MORE: Prices for alcoholic drinks at TRNSMT 2025 have been revealed Known for its quirky concoctions and themed events, Driftwood earned a cult following for its Buckfast jelly bombs, Disney-inspired cocktails, and its infamous pie and bean pizzas. The venue was equally known for its buzzing atmosphere and loyal clientele. Social media has since been flooded with tributes and expressions of sadness from fans and former staff. Donald McLeod, owner of Glasgow venues Cathouse and The Garage, shared his disappointment online: 'This is desperately sad news. "I'm gutted for my friend and owner Dario, Nicola, and their team, who have worked tirelessly for 28 years to make this corner of Sauchiehall Street an iconic Glasgow institution—only to see it torn away from them in the blink of an eye.' Cathouse's official social media added: 'They said only two things would survive a nuclear attack—cockroaches and Driftwood. "We are living in the decline of bars and venues, and it never gets any easier seeing places disappear. "Our hearts go out to the staff who have been made redundant and the customers who frequented Driftwood during its 28-year reign in Glasgow.' Former staff have also shared their memories. One wrote on Facebook: 'I'm gutted to hear about this. "I worked there when it was Los Borrachos, from October 1999 to February 2001—my first bar job. I was there for a year and a half. Lots of memories.' The Glasgow Bartenders Club questioned the reasons behind the closure, while videos mourning the pub's potential end have been circulating widely on TikTok. One emotional clip read: 'Wasn't going to drink tonight, but Driftwood in Glasgow is closed and might not reopen, and their accounts are gone. My heart is broken.' Another simply asked: 'What do I do now that Driftwood is closed forever?' There was no sign on the door to indicate a closure, but the bar wasn't open (Image: Newsquest) The Glasgow Times visited the premises of Driftwood, and it appears closed with no signs indicating if it has shut for good or when it will be opening once again. As of now, no official statement has been released by the bar's owners, but with its digital presence wiped and industry insiders mourning its loss, the future of Driftwood remains uncertain. The Glasgow Times has approached Driftwood for comment.

I'm a nurse and here's the worst baby name I have ever heard – it's so bad it keeps me awake at night

The nurse assumed that the baby name wouldn't be legal OH BABY I'm a nurse and here's the worst baby name I have ever heard – it's so bad it keeps me awake at night WE'VE all put on a false smile when we've heard a baby name that gives us the ick. However, even the most po-faced of people would struggle to keep a straight face after hearing this moniker. 1 A maternity nurse has revealed the worst baby name she has ever heard Credit: Getty A nurse has revealed the very worst baby name she has ever heard, claiming that it still keeps her up at night. 'Richie Rich Putin,' wrote the disgusted Reddit user from Germany, adding that labor and delivery nurses at a local birthing center had recently deemed it the the 'worst name' to ever curse the cradle. It's a 'creative' combination of actor Macaulay Culkin's 1990s classic film 'Richie Rich,' and the last name of Russian president, Vladimir Putin. 'I used to think the name laws are more strict [in Germany] than in other countries,' wrote the Redditor. 'The city will decide whether the name you chose is an actual name or the child will be bullied for it.' However, this particularly unusual title clearly fell through the cracks. 'Just felt like I had to share that while lying awake thinking about my soon-to-be-born child's name,' she added. Fellow redditors were equally horrified, sharing their thoughts in the comments. 'Do parents really hate their child that much? Or do they think it's funny and don't think it through for the kid's future?,' questioned a concerned commenter. 'That poor child,' another sighed. 'Can you imagine all oligarch bootlicking that must go on in its home?' Channel 4 star horrifies fans as she reveals 'truly awful' baby names ahead of birth of second child Sadly, side-eye-worthy baby names are currently en vogue among expecting moms worldwide. Be they Disney-inspired handles such as 'Snow White' and 'Se7en Simba,' or geographically-influenced names à la 'Elae' — pronounced LA, like the abbreviation for Los Angeles, California. Emma Hutton, who crowned her daughter Elae, doesn't seem to understand why haters have a hard time embracing the unconventional name. 'I know everyone's not going to like it. I know it's not going to be everyone's cup of tea,' Hutton barked in a viral vid. 'But I like different names.' 'It's 2025,' she added. 'I didn't know that people wouldn't be able to understand basic English.' This story was originally published on the NY Post and has been republished here with permission
