Miley Cyrus confirms plans to mark Hannah Montana 20th anniversary with special tribute in 2026
Miley Cyrus has confirmed that she is preparing a tribute to celebrate the 20th anniversary of Hannah Montana, the Disney Channel series that launched her career in 2006. Speaking on Sirius XM, Cyrus revealed that she intends to 'design something really special' to honour the occasion. The singer and actress reflected on the impact of the series, describing it as the beginning of her public life. 'It really was the beginning of all of this,' Cyrus said. 'It's crazy to think that I started as a character that I thought was going to be impossible to shed.' Cyrus explained that the character of Hannah Montana has since taken on a nostalgic role for many fans. 'I've now been integrated into everyone's life as the character itself,' she added. While no specific project details have been confirmed, speculation among fans includes the possibility of a tribute concert, a documentary, or limited-edition merchandise. Some have also suggested she may re-record original songs from the series, now that she has the legal ability to do so. A full cast reunion appears unlikely, with Cyrus's former co-star Emily Osment previously distancing herself from reprising her role. Cyrus's tribute project will coincide with the 2026 anniversary of the show's debut, which chronicled the double life of Miley Stewart, an ordinary teen with a secret career as pop star Hannah Montana. The series ended in 2011. In 2024, Cyrus was honoured as a Disney Legend and credited her early career to the character. 'This award is dedicated to Hannah and all of her amazing, loyal fans,' she said at the D23 event.

Disney Legend Dick Van Dyke is 'still' working on computer animation skills at the age of 99
Dick Van Dyke is "still" a computer animator at the age of 99. The Hollywood legend is best known for his roles in classics such as Mary Poppins and Chitty Chitty Bang Bang but also created the 3D-rendered effects used on Diagnosis: Murder when he starred in the medical crime drama, and his wife Arlene, 53, has confirmed that he keeps up with his hobby to this day. During a Q+A at a Vandy Camp event held at the Arlene and Dick Van Dyke Theater at Malibu High School, a fan pointed out that "not very many people know Dick Van Dyke was a computer animator" to the rest of the audience. Arlene replied: "Still is! And he has a credit for computer animation on Diagnosis: Murder!" The fan then asked Arlene - who married Dick in 2012 - what the Disney Legend had recalled to her about starring in the 1964 musical alongside Dame Julie Andrews. She said: "[Mary Poppins] such an important movie in the history of visual effects. He said it was really hot!" The former sitcom star was not able to attend the event in person due to ill health. Arlene told the audience: "I have to inform you that Dick is not up to coming to celebrate with us today. I'm sorry. "When you're 99 and a half years old, you have good days and bad days ... and unfortunately, today is not a good day for him, and he's sick that he can't be here.' The actor appeared on a livestream but Arlene added she was 'pretty confident' her husband would make the next event 'in person'. Speaking about how much Vandy Camp means to her husband, Arlene said: 'It is a celebration of your childhood, all of our childhoods, the music that's in the fabric of all of us, [and] Dick Van Dyke is a big part of that.' Calling her husband's fans 'the greatest human beings I've ever known," she added, "These Vandy Camp [events] are a wonderful opportunity to have you all in the same room and meet each other."

Miley Cyrus claims Disney banned her from singing ‘Hannah Montana' songs after series ended
Miley Cyrus was apparently not allowed to have 'The Best of Both Worlds.' The 32-year-old pop superstar has revealed that Disney allegedly banned her from singing 'Hannah Montana' songs after her series ended in 2011. 'After I left Disney, I wasn't allowed to perform any of the 'Hannah Montana' music,' Cyrus said on 'The Ringer' podcast. That meant that the singer had to say goodbye to hits such as 'Nobody's Perfect' and 'He Could Be the One' as well as 'The Best of Both Worlds,' which was the theme song of 'Hannah Montana.' (However, she could still perform 'The Climb,' which was featured in 2009's 'Hannah Montana: The Movie.') At the time, Cyrus was already moving in a different, less Disney-friendly direction with her new label, RCA, that would result in 2013's 'Bangerz' LP. So, performing 'Hanna Montana' material that she had outgrown didn't feel right for her anymore. Still, having become a teen sensation playing Hannah Montana on the Disney Channel series from 2006 to 2011, it was strange for Cyrus to cut the chord from those tunes that shaped her TV identity. 'It was still sad knowing those songs have my voice, my face, and I wasn't allowed to sing them,' she said. Miley Cyrus is now allowed to perform her Hannah Montana songs
Miley Cyrus is now allowed to perform songs from her Hannah Montana days. The 32-year-old pop superstar famously broke away from the wholesome image she had created on the musical Disney Channel series when it came to an end in the early 2010s, and was forbidden to perform songs from its soundtrack until the corporation named her a Disney Legend. Speaking on the Every Single Album podcast, she explained: "After I left Disney, I wasn't allowed to perform any of the Hannah Montana music. "It's not like I wanted to. I mean, performing The Best of Both Worlds between We Can't Stop and Wrecking Ball wouldn't have really made sense. "But after being inducted as a Disney Legend, I was given permission to perform those songs in the future, which is pretty cool." Hannah Montana followed the adventures of a schoolgirl who lived a double life as a world-famous pop star. It ran for four seasons from 2006 until 2011 and a cinematic film was released in 2009. Each season and the movie spawned a top-selling soundtrack featuring original songs, and The Best of Both Worlds Tour took place in 2007. The Climb - which was featured in the final scene of Hannah Montana: The Movie and released under her own name - is the only track from the franchise that Miley has performed in recent years. Upon her acceptance of the Disney Legend honour towards the end of last year, the Easy Lover hitmaker insisted that she was "proud" to have starred as the fictional pop star as she referenced a track from the initial soundtrack. She said: "I had gotten a taste of what my life could be, and from that moment on, I did not want anything else. " "A little bit of everything has changed, ... but at the same time, nothing has changed at all. "I stand here still proud to have been Hannah Montana." "IIn so many ways, this award is dedicated to Hannah and all of her amazing loyal fans, and to everyone who has made my dream a reality. To quote the legend herself, 'This is the life.'"
