Edwin Arnold Linger

Edwin 'Ed' Arnold Linger, 86, of Morgantown, passed away Wednesday, June 18, 2025, under the compassionate care of Cortland Acres Health and Rehab in in Weston November 19, 1938, Ed was a son of the late Lewis Jackson Linger and Eleanor Arnold July 2, 1965, Ed married the love of his life, Deigratia 'Ann' Kitzmiller. Together they have shared the joys of marriage for nearly 60 years and she will miss him cherishing their memories of Ed are his wife, Ann Kitzmiller Linger of Morgantown; one son, Edwin 'EJ' Jackson Linger of Morgantown; two siblings: Ann Louis Linger of Miami, Fla.; and Lewis Linger and wife Beth of Weston; two brothers- in-law: James Kitzmiller and wife Patricia of Dallas, Texas; and Thomas Kitzmiller and wife Michelle of Columbus, Ohio; three nieces: Kimberly Christopher of Davie, Fla.; Mary Linger of Beckley; and Natalie Linger of Weston; and several cousins and extended family found his calling early in life, graduating from Weston High School in 1956 before pursuing a BS in Animal Husbandry from West Virginia University in served in the Army Reserves in the professional journey began working as the manager of WVU Livestock Farm and later as an instructor of Horse Sciences. Ed was also an advisor to Block and Bridle Club, worked at Kitzmiller Stables, and finally as owner of Linger Stables. His farming background included raising, showing, training, and selling cattle and horses in the Tri-state area. Ed was a 4-H All Star, superintendent of the State 4-H Junior Horse Show at Lewisburg from the 1970s-2000, and supervised the Monongalia County 4-H Horse Show held at Linger Stables in the was a member of the WV Farm Bureau. His dedication and service to the farming community earned him several accolades, including the Society of Gamma Sigma Delta's Distinguished Service to WV Agriculture, Forestry, and Consumer Science Award in 2006, and the 'Friend of 4-H' Award. He was also a member of the first committee that started the Quarter Horse Association in Northern West Virginia, where he served as president one year, and a member of the American Quarter Horse Association for 30 matter the occasion, friends and family will remember Ed's outfit as a sometimes-well- worn cowboy hat and lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Monongalia 4-H Leaders Associations, 270 Mylan Park Lane, Suite 250, Morgantown, WV request for cremation has been honored at Pat Boyle Funeral Home's On-Site Crematory.A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, June 27, at Weston Masonic Cemetery, with Pastor Charlie Barrett officiating.
